I don't really see too much of a problem except Saturn's shiny wig, floppy sleeves, and need of some facial treatment. Though... Venus's hair is showing, and Uranus's bow is crooked. Seems more nitpicky to me.

ehhh, the longer i look, the more i see issues. venus's bow doesn't meet her collar. what is going on with saturn's sleeves? uranus's bow is drunk. and everyone's makeup seems to have stopped at fake eyelashes (they could have gloss on, but i can't tell). there's no brow treatment, especially on venus, uranus could use some light powdering to help minimize her skin-shine. mercury's wig looks almost shellaced...

Anna's is pretty good but I'm too distracted by those massive arm rolls. Also the downward point of the bodice is crazy unflattering. Elsa looks like she tried to bone the corset a couple times rather than using some real shapewear under it and the shoulders of the cape look kind of off but other wise looks fine. These could be saved easily with better foundation wear and a more cutesy hands-clasped-behind-back pose for Anna.

The reason they don't cosplay fat characters is because they don't want others or themselves to see themselves as fat. They want to `escape` their fatness.

I can't wrap my head around the logic of "They've tried really hard to make a great coord/cosplay/whatever, just give them props." If they applied that effort to losing weight, they wouldn't be a hindrance to themselves or society.

So, unless they're cosplaying someone fat, i.e. not a scream for acceptance and they are comfortable with their weight, then their getup is automatically bad.

Of course they like the character. I never said fat people can't have emotions nor should they not identify with characters. But they are fat and know it, so, again, why would they try to cosplay a normal sized character? Cosplay is about dressing up as a character. Secondly, of course there's not many fat characters. At least not fat anime characters. This is because fat isn't normal. Any attempt to say it is normal is wrong. It is commonplace? Sure. It is OK or normal? No.

Because cosplaying isn't always about dressing up as characters who look like you. I mean I admit that I think it is fucking *awesome* when I see someone who looks like the character they are cosplaying. But someone cosplaying a character who they don't look like doesn't automatically make it bad.

This doesn't just apply to weight, but even body build. Wide shoulders, built, tall, fit, whatever.

Okay yes, they are fat. They would probably look much better cosplaying characters that fit their body type.

But that is not what is being argued here. The costumes themselves, while obviously made bigger to accommodate them are well made. That is the main distinction between a good cosplay and a bad cosplay. This is not a thread called "lol fatties are gross" or "people cosplaying things they shouldn't". It is about bad cosplays. And yes, these are not screen accurate, and there are flaws and concessions made. But, from a purely construction viewpoint, these costumes are well made.

The same could be said about people wearing regular clothing that doesn't match their body type. Not only is she trying to dress up like a character who is obviously skinny, but that dress is extremely unflattering because it was designed to fit a thin person. She should really be wearing something to cover those arms or at least flatter them somehow (if at all possible). Plus the way the bodice is shaped makes her gut look even more massive.

The reason why fatties dressed as thin characters is so gross to me (and possibly others ITT) is because it's almost like you're looking at what the character would look like if he/she gained several hundred pounds. It's disgusting, and I know I hate seeing it when it's one of my favorite characters. I didn't like Frozen and especially didn't care for Anna, but I can only imagine how displeased I'd be seeing this tub of lard if I was a fan.

If it is simply because of the silhouette is off and therefor massively changing the design of the dress/clothing as well as the character...then I can't argue that. I disagree, but it is a totally legitimate argument and view point to have. Especially since it can be applied to scrawny people wanting to cosplay bigger or built character.
