Since they're giving out free tests of their new faux suede today I thought it would be nice to post creations from spoonflower. The Good, the Bad, and the Faded.

Just found out today that this is the first pattern of fabric that comes up when you search "lolita" on spoonflower. I normally love Elegy, but this is bad!

You obviously are not part of the lolita comm and know the inside joke about the derpy horse. It's actually quite the opposite of ableism.
Check out Lovely-Horse-Derpy-Chan on facebook. They donate all proceeds of sales to the red cross.

Not sure what I would need in terms of fabric type or yards though for a jsk. It looks like the ultra cotton has the best colour turn out though?

here's a quote from her flickr "catframes swatches

here is the same print on four different spoonflower base fabrics. all three new fabrics do a better job with black, but i feel the ultra cotton is kinda oversaturated in the reds (look at how the wallpaper in the frames behind the cats came out) and the texture feels really rough and cheap (worse than kona and i already don't like kona). the silky faille and performance knit look awesome, but i'm not sure if the silky faille is too "flowy" for lolita dresses. i have not tested any of these in the wash - that will be my next step."

>> No.7604800

Does anyone have recommendations for what fabric to order on if I need it to make and hold big pleats? I have the little swatch booklet so I know what to expect material wise, but my pleats will be wider than the swatch squares so I have no idea how they would hold up.

Has anyone purchased/worked with Spoonflower's performance knit or modern jersey (or any of their stretchy fabric types)?

I want to make some normalfaggy batwing tshirts and longish tunics in cute prints for summer but I'm worried the prints won't hold up well on fabric that stretches.

Googling has informed me that they're prone to fading, which I'm fine with (hoping to counteract that by picking stuff that's kind of pastel to begin with) but I don't know if the fading is typically an allover, consistent thing or if I'm gonna end up with like, super faded areas on the back or armpits.

>> No.7608419

Do they have any fabrics that would be good for sewing tights? Alternatively has anyone worked with fabric on demand that can vouch for their stretchy fabrics? I just really want to get some matching tights printed for a dress I made.

leggings yeah... Like something opaque like Black Milk

It's just basic as anything. You can't really fuck up how simple you went but adding things, like maybe a bow at the front or just standard shit like that could make it more interesting. Construction looks solid. no wonky waist band/10

You used enough fabric, it has a nice shape, a good looking waistband.
