Personally I think white and pastels can look best on black girls (better than on lighter skinned girls, anyway) but it really depends on how dark/light she is and the undertones of her skin than just being black. For example I think warmer toned skin don't suit pastels as well as a cooler, darker skintone. I think in that case, anon's recommendations of jewel tones is accurate.

One thing I would say is that blonde wigs often do not suit black girls; stick to pastels if they suit her, or black (if she's going to be wearing wigs).

I'm black and have found that my best colors are beige/offwhites, light pastels, and red. And recently, cosplay showed me that royal blue works too, but I don't own any lolita in that color yet.

She can probably pull off neat things like mint, but tell her to avoid salmon because that's just a bad color in general for lolita, on everyone.

I think it is because the dress itself has this really weird cut that hardly looks good on anybody.
The bodice part is so awkwardly placed and so small/short it always looks like you have absolutley no tits at all, and makes her already awkward looking pose look even more awkward. The bolero doesn't help either. I didn't like her photo with Fanny Rosie too; same problems.

It was posted on her blog under her outfits, so it has to be her. She is wearing the same shoes and bag she always wore with this coord too. Not sure if/how much she shoops herself.
I don't know why people told her to lose the petti, the dress looks so much better in this coord. Without a petti it just looks sad. Is there a way to make long gloves work with lolita?

I have this thick woolen winter OP with short puff sleeves that I can't figure out how to wear. The dress itself is too warm to wear in the kind of weather where bare arms are appropriate so I've been trying to find something to wear with it. But it looks terribly frumpy with a blouse underneath and the big puff sleeves look ridiculous underneath a bolero or cardigan. My solution was to make some long gloves that reached until maybe an inch underneath the sleeves.

Personally with her coloring, I think she would look better with white/off-white. She could do one of two things:

Ugh, I agree completely. Bold, bright colors like those would be better utilized as accent colors rather than main pieces like blouses are tights. I honestly don't get why that's becoming a trend now.

A lavender blouse with some gorgeous amethyst jewelry and that flower crown would have been much, much more beautiful. And if she's going to have big headgear, she needs bigger hair to balance it.

That's a good dress for her, though. Though in the future she might want to look into longer skirts. It could just be the way she's posed (or the tights) but that one cuts her off in a place that makes her calf look really undefined and shapeless.

How I would fix this outfit:

-Bigger hair to carry the bow or get another headpiece
-Open-necked blouse with frillier puff sleeves (or possibly elbow-length)
-Less but more carefully thought out accessories that better match the theme of the dress
-Ankle socks, tights or bare legs. The socks as they are now cut her legs off awkwardly and make them look chunkier than they are.
-Shoes with a delicate, higher heel instead of a low chunky one.

Though to be honest, this style really doesn't suit her. She would look much better in dark colors and jewel tones. And she would look much better if she shaped her brows a bit and got some more loll-friendly frames. Also possibly bangs.

The wig is a good color on her, though something with layers to soften her jaw might help more. I think she would look far better in navy and emerald green than black. Th black's alright, though. I'm not a fan of the floppy bonnet. I would much prefer her in a hat.

I like the necklace and the bodice of the dress on her (though it looks like it might be a bit tight, bodices designed like that definitely compliment her figure best). She was right to save all the detail for the skirt.

The pearl belt needs to be either straightened out, replaced by one that doesn't fall so oddly on the skirt, or saved for another outfit. The shoes are alright, but look horrendous with those tights. She has thick, shapely calves and smaller ankles; tights like that do not flatter her legs at all. She should show off their shape with some solid ones. I'm not going to touch the bag.

I really don't like OTT sweet when it's done like this. It looks like she just threw on whatever without thinking if it matched, fit the theme or even looked good. It's quantity over quality.

She definitely needs a natural colored wig that doesn't have a long, thick fringe of bangs like that. Sideswept ones would be nicer. Either way, pastel hair just isn't working for her. If she's going to continue to do sweet, she needs to tone down the accessories and the pastel vomit and learn how to add on items that actually match the dress and the print. Learning how to bring out her eyes and lips wouldn't hurt, either. As it is now, her wig kind of swallows her whole face.

All in all, I think she has some real potential, but she should just stick to simple coords until her wardrobe is bigger and she's mastered how to style herself. Then she can slowly build and experiment. (Also, I think this coord would look cuter with mint instead of sax)

For me I think it's the combination of fairly mature accessories (shoes, hat, pearls) with a sweeter or at least more hime dress and socks. Also, the lavenders of the dress and socks clash.
I still think it's pretty cute, though.
