I just don't see the point of complaining. If you liked the older gens then just play those games instead. To be honest, though, I've realized in later games we have the opposite problem. I end up never catching any of the water types because there's so little moments where you need to use swim.
I agree Gen 3 had it to the extreme, but there needs to be a balance. And at least Gen 3 had a reason for it, with the whole magma/aqua thing.

Sure, there's a lot of Water stuff, but it's based off of an island-heavy part of Japan (Kyushu) and you have to meddle with Team Aqua. I'd be confused if there wasn't a lot of water travel.

I buy at least two of every main game (one of the first two released, and then the third one whenever that comes out), and they did add a good bit. Aside from the Pokémon walking with you, the plot was expanded, and the post game was new, too. I think they do tend to listen to complaints when it comes to the remakes. Of course they're never perfect for everyone, but they're generally pretty well received.

Gen III wasn't my first, that was Red in maybe 2000, 2001, but it come out when I was in third/fourth grade, so it's the one I remember best, along with the complaints for it. When it comes to the first two games, everyone seems to say Gen I is, objectively speaking, the worst, and Gen II is just "eh." I don't really hear any bad for it, but there's also never any serious praise. I don't know why Gen III is the one they decided to pick on the most for all the "shit game, shit plot, shit soundtrack, shit mechanics, Hoennbabbies" nonsense. The most legitimate complaint is the absolutely balls to the wall crazy amount of legends they added that gen. The Regis were literally the most useless pieces of shit.

I really, really hope they do what >>7543178 said and add more water based activities so you're not just fucking around in the ocean for hours on end. I can't handle running away from Wingulls every time I move again.

But no, the number of legendaries in Gen 3 was 12
Gen 4 had 14 (15 if you wanna count Rotom as a Pseudo)

As for Gen 3 as a game, it introduced the double battle mechanic, on route weather conditions, secret base, one of the best games for breeding control (emerald) and started the Battle Frontier. It also had the most outrageous hidden mechanics and secrets I've seen in a good while out of pokemon games. Lest we not forget the efforts needed to capture Feebas! Also the introduction of FAR cheaper healing items made for the game's progression vs income easier on people who fucking know how to manage money.

Oh and how could anyone forget contest halls (something I'm not a huge fan of but it was more content for people and I actually know a lot of folks who REALLY enjoyed playing them, and they aren't easy)

Gen 3 was a massive set up from Gen 2 and while Gen 4 was a fantastic looking game with some awesome new mechanics and concepts, Gen 3 was the mold breaker and will continually be reckognized for that.

I'm currently making a Red cosplay. Trying to figure out the best way to hang the balls on my belt while being able to pull them off easily without wires.

Also debating on whether or not to have his badges (all 16), and Pokedex or not. Most people wouldn't see them, but I like to be as authentic as possible.

Unfortunately there's no velcro that I know of that's quiet. As for the magnet if it's a pokeball that opens then you could put a super strong one on the inside and then have another one sewn into the belt.

Thanks for the picture, that actually gives me a good idea for where you can place the magnet. You could put it on the red half directly above the hinge where the plastic is thinnest. If that doesn't work then you'll probably have to super glue the magnet on the back and then you can just cover up the magnet with your hand when you are holding it.

From what I've heard they are pretty strong but I'm not sure because I haven't dealt with them myself. If you can find something stronger for a decent price then go for it. I mean think about it this way, it's better to have something that you KNOW will work then to be unsure and have to reorder (and spend more money and time) if it doesn't work.

True. I'd want something strong enough to pull through the belt, and the ball. I'd hate for someone to be able to see the actual magnet, instead of the belt under the balls. Break the immersion.

I've also thought about trying to find little toys of Reds team and gluing them inside the balls. If I opened the ball, you could see what pokemon was supposed to be inside, and give the cosplay a little more depth. But then again, it might just seem cheesy and overdone.

I've noticed that too.
I've played a game from every gen in order, my first being Yellow, but my favorite is actually gen 2/Johto. It was like having two games in one with being able to go from Johto to Kanto. I did love the addition of contests in gen 3 though, and I hope they bring it back/keep it in the remake.

Thank you! I also did a Jolteon Gijinka this weekend but it's no where near as serious. I wish Mega Absol was a little more powerful in the game compared to his Mega-Evolved friends.

I'm personally hoping for Mega Eeveelutions. I know Mega Evolutions get compared to Digimon a lot but I think that battle-wise they take the place of legendaries since you can't use legendaries in official matches, plus you can only mega evolve one pokemon per battle, so you can keep it as your hidden ace. It's a nice thing to have.
