There are plenty of good examples. Where most Wa lolita goes wrong is when bright colours and unflattering prints are involved. If it looks like a costume, it will look terrible. Just because something's "old school" doesn't mean it can't suck. The first one has way too much going on in terms of pattern and design. It also just looks vaguely mallgoth with the black with red accents and the dragon going up the side.

The second one has ugly print, there are random ribbons coming out of the sleeves, the neckline is wrong for a kimono, and the fabric used just looks cheap overall.

Brand =/= automatically good, also Meta is known for being vaguely ita. Maybe the dress by itself is decent, but the coord sucks. There's no cohesion between the jsk and the shoes or the bag; none of the colours match with or are from the same colour palette as the main piece. The only things that match are the clips and her blouse/socks.

I will concede the fourth and fifth as decent coords, but you've still only given 1.5 examples of "good" wa.

I'll untwist my panties when you can actually deliver.

For prints and things with a lot of details, I literally wash them by hand in the sink, with lingerie detergent. You fill up the sink, swish them around, and only scrub at actual stains. Oh I'm a crazy washer.

I only buy items that can be handwashed. I handwash all my loli. They are like my precious offspring.

>grab 2 plastic bags
>wash with soap
>fill with water
>freeze bags of water

(Ideally your tub should be wide so that the fabric can all spread out. My bathroom is tiny so I have to do with a tall but skinny cylinder tub.)
>fill tub with detergent and some water
>toss in ice
>be melt
>add cup of vinegar
>dip my loli into tub

If new: soak for 15min, stir a little
If not new: hunt down any stains or target problem areas and rub if necessary. Soak for 10-20min

>remove loli from tub
>gently press but do not wring water out
>hang loli someplace clean. I have racks in my bathroom
>to save on bills, this now dirty tub will be used for normalfag clothes later.

>new tub, fill with water no detergent
>If shirt is a strong colour, add half the amount if vinegar you previously used.
>melt ice in tub
>Soak for maybe 15-20min

From here I do either (a) or (b)
(A) toss into machine on dry spin
(B) press out water and hang on rack.

If a dress is too heavy or has lots of shirring i opt for A because I fear the stretchy of gravity. If you have the space, you should let all your loli dry flat, but I don't.

Finally I'll turn the dress inside out to sun. I can't stand clothes that don't smell sunned. Please feel free to comment. I think I might be doing too much...

>Mix it in well
>Add clothing, one piece washed at a time
>Make sure entire piece is soaked, sometimes I'll set my shampoo bottles on top of it to keep it submerged
>allow to soak 10-20 minutes, scrub out any stains before soaking
>drain soapy water out through holes in basket by tipping it
>allow fresh cool water to run over loli for 10 minutes
>drain
>repeat until clean
>repeat process with softener if possible
>press out water with towels
>lay out loli to dry partially on towels if it can't be machine dried
>hang up in next to sliding door in the sun to dry completely (inside out to prevent sun fading)

I have a well, so I don't have to worry about the cost of water. This might be less practical for those who live in cities.

It's really not otome-suitable, IMO. Too gothic-looking.

Have you tried pulling it down slightly? Maybe you're wearing it an inch or two higher than it's supposed to be worn. It looks like it's sitting a bit high for your waistline in that pic, but it could just be that the waist laces aren't tied fully. Honey Cake actually didn't do well upon release, it didn't sell out the way Sweetie Violet did, and most lolitas thought the pancake theme a bit too tacky. I think a few e-famous lolitas wore it, which in turn got a few less famous lolitas to want it, a few of them must've had deep pockets and got into some bid war, and now the prices are super high. The hype is pretty much self-prepetuating by now, some girls just want it because some of the auctions went for $800 so they think it's a status piece (pretty much like iron gate).

Wrapping ribbon usually sells well every year, and I like the chiffon reinterpretation. The mistake was that AP "updated" the colours into weird and funky ones, almost everyone I spoke with said they can't find a colour they actually liked. Keep in mind their main market is Japanese girls, so just because it doesn't sell well in the West doesn't mean it's not popular.

I think people on both sides of this behaved inappropriately. I'm amazed (by this and by other things I've seen on LSE) at how little respect some people have and how quickly this devolved into a few people ganging up on others, calling each other crazy, etc.
It seemed to me like several of these people were under their actual FB accounts, and it's likely that their "friends" could see how they were behaving. Even if not, do you want people you might buy from or sell to to see you acting like that? Or your fellow comm members? I sure as hell wouldn't want to have to interact with a solid third of the people who commented on that post, and I've already noted about five or six people to whom I will never sell.

Although, one thing I have heard is that if brands don't protect their copyrights they may risk losing them in the future (dilution) that's why you get companies like Starbucks going after people making stuff like a beer called Frappuchino, and mouthbreathers online get all up in arms "hurrr like anyone would mistake beer for coffee!!1" when that's not the point, because what would happen is that it would start out with beer, then some other beverages would get marketed as Frappuchino, then people start making coffee beverages called Frappuchino and they lose a major court case and don't have the sole claim to the Frappuchino name anymore.

Having some experience with this field, I can say that whether or not the AP logo is trademarked in Japan, they would have to have registered it in the new country for it to be effective there. What they can do is get someone using their logo in trouble for being an unofficial distributor but that's not technically illegal.

The reason a replica print is illegal is because laws to protect artists grant copyright to artwork as soon as it is made. A non print garment can usually not be protected this way. Similarly a logo isn't considered art so it can't be protected unless it a registered trademark.

There is some grey area where in some cases the general public has come to know a brand and its logo without a registered mark and an imposter tried to use the same name and logo for their own business and courts have shut them down, but no one in the U.S. knows or cares about AP.

So where is the point, where I know if my gf is a lolita?
I mean she is only wearing dresses and a few look like lolita dresses, when I first met her she was wearing cat ears and holding a plushie.

My favourite store is SheenasBellaBows. She has so many unique and interesting pieces and they're all very high quality.

You can get hair accessories also from ParadiseRose, LittleLolitaBoutique, LittleBanshees, SakuraFairy and CuteCandyClouds.

At first I thought you were my boyfriend but he never comes on /cgl/ and I wasn't holding a plushie or in cat ears

Just look at the tags or ask

Anti-replica knights are honestly way more annoying than replica-chans 80% of the time. I don't buy replicas myself but don't care either way about them, but to me it's way more obnoxious the way they doggedly go after people like this than the supposed replica-chan defenders they like to go on about.

bloomers undernead shorts will just look wonky. I've seen a few examples of sweet boystyle, so any style could work in boystyle too, as long as you coord well.

A 7.5 women's should be the same as a 5.5 kids, so you can keep that in mind while browsing kids' shoes.

I'm a 23.5 too, and I always wear a 7.5.

I have a dress I got in the mail and it's covered in really gross sweat stains all over the bodice. Like, it's supposed to be offwhite, but it's almost yellow. How do I wash it without risking water getting onto the skirt, which has embroidery that could run?

Do you mean 23.5 JP size or 23.5 cm. I've been buying shoes from China for years at 23.5 cm (traced and measured my foot etc) and have never owned any US shoes over a 6.5 that fit.
>>7541034
Well I don't know anymore but a friend of mine wears 4.5 US woman's and measures at between 21.5 and 22cm (Japanese sizing doesn't seem to go off strictly cm however)

You should really trace your foot however. Do not go off a conversion chart. Stand on a piece of paper, bend at the waist, and trace your larger foot. I'd recommend wearing the normal legware you prefer (socks, tights, etc) too. Then measure in CM. I own three pairs of JP shoes, all their '23.5' size and two fit great and the other is a bit snug in the toe. However all my Chinese shoes that are 23.5 CM fit perfectly.

Yeah and it seems to be different between companies... Liz Lisa and AP I wear 23.5/M without a problem. But the Meta shoes I just picked up in 23.5 are small in the toe area. I guess it's one of those things you have to trail and error between brands, which seems like it would be a lot of time and money.

On that note, experience with VM and IW's shoe sizing, anyone? Which size correctly corresponds to which US/EU shoe sizes? Or do the brand's sizing also go all over the place?

Try a hand spot-wash with a diluted vinegar spray and water in your sink. Are the stains just around underarm area or do they extend towards the bottom of the bodice?

I wish I knew... I own the SS short boot knock offs at 23.5 and they are roomy (I'm anon above, 6.5 US) but if you're springing for the real thing you don't want to guess... Maybe email IW/VW and say 'my foot measures X CM with socks on, which shoe size do you recommend'?

I actually even own a pair of S AP engineer boots that I can wear OK, a little toe squish, but the Meta 23.5 I bought feel just as small as those... so it looks like it can be all over the place.

I have issues about choosing the right size for shoes. I have measured my feet in cm one is 23 cm, one is 23,4/23,3 cm and i'm unsure about the sizing of these BL shoes. Should i pick a 230 or a 235? I have a 37/38 EU usually. Also, the enamel shoes are confortable? Because usually i find enamel shoes uncorfortable to my big toes, maybe it was the wrong size?

Same, my feet measure between 23 and 23.5cm and I always wear a 6 or 6.5 in US sizes.
With Japanese shoes, it just depends - sometimes I'm an S, sometimes I'm an M. I usually buy my lolita shoes in M because I like to layer legwear a lot.
Also, I wear a 4-4.5 in kids' (depending on the shoe) and a 4 in men's.

Not sure if anyone cares (probably not) but I want to tell you girls that you are awesome.

It's so refreshing to see well dressed, cute girls nowadays, rather than these girls that look like sluts and more often than not act like one as well.
I see lolita girls as cute and beautiful girls, that make me want to be their prince, whereas the average girl gets me to think dirty stuff and thats it.

I just got a lolita gf recently, and she told me that there are quit a few people talking shit about your style, so I felt like telling you that.

Absolutely, that's bullshit.

Unless you are hella tall because then it could be that the person selling it to you is hella short, and they are OTKs on them.

Message them about it, and talk it out, I guess.
