So lately, I've been seriously getting into Kaizoku Sentai Gokaiger thanks to my boyfriend, and it's to the point that we were thinking about cosplaying from the series. Any tips on how to craft the helmets, reputable places to find the costumes, etc.?

Also, general thread for tokusentai cosplay.

I love Gokaiger too and I wish I could help but all I know is the helmets are expensive.

I did a civilian costume instead. If you find that the suits are too much for some reason you can always do that.

Hmm... Do you know about how much they run? Or maybe if there's a good tutorial for helmets we could possibly follow? I'd be up for trying to make one, if the process isn't too difficult.

We were thinking about doing the civilian costumes too, if the cost proves to be too much for what we're willing to spend. Then again, we've got over a year for this, so hopefully we can piece it all together.

Aniki Cosplay is the only place where you can get a reliable full set or helmet and those are $700+ depending on the series but it's guaranteed it will be accurate and amazing.

Helmets are pretty advanced, just google "Making Sentai Helmets" Most require decent sculpting and casting skills.

Ah, yeah, I just saw their page not too long ago. Their portfolio is really awesome. I would love to order from them, but they don't offer Gokaiger at a full costume set in their list.... Welp.

I've always had serious respect for tokusentai cosplayers, but man, looking into it more has really made it that much more admirable. I never realized how expensive it could get. Are there any other options besides Aniki Cosplay that you guys would recommend? Looking on the Ranger Boards only gave me results for merchandise, not really tips for the cosplay.

Oh, thanks a lot! This is really awesome, and I always forget how useful craft foam can be. It's been a while since I've cosplayed anything, and this definitely helps a lot. Sorry I seem so clueless, haha.

Pretty much all sentai suits are high quality spandex since they have to do martial arts and stunts in them.

I think it's fine to cosplay sentai alone. Works fine as a Red or the Johnny-come-lately. I already want to be the Tokkyu 0 purple and there's no confirmation they exist yet

Man, I have to finish my Captain Marvelous cosplay at some point. I have everything but the coat finished. I left the bag of red velvet on the subway when I fell asleep on it. Now I have to go haggle with the same dude in the fabric district again for red velvet. Ugh. But I did not buy a mobirates for nothing, it is happening!
