Most of these coords posted could not be worn were I live. It gets over 100F easily. Right now we're already in the 90s.

How I survive in the summer:
>Opt out blouses for chiffon or other sheer or lightweight fabric boleros.
>Ankle socks and sheer thigh high lace stockings
>IF I go blouse less, i wear ankle socks. Having legs covered and shoulders uncovered looks stupid. Also a halter neck jsk looks better then other jsks without a blouse
>parasols
>short wigs opposed to long ones, or natural hair with up-dos
>hats to shade your face and neck
>cute sandals or wedges or open toes shoes-regular or lolita, doesn't matter as long as they match your coord and look good
>always carry water

Boystyle/kodona is... just that, a boy's style, as opposed to the girl the lolita is. The words are basically interchangeable despite what some try to argue, kodona was just a nickname coined by a vkei style icon to describe his own style.

Aristocrat on the other hand is when a lolita "grows up"- a grown aristocratic lady and not a young miss, so her skirts become longer, overall look is more mature and less youthful/kawaii-focused. Honestly a lot about it is basically just victorian goth focusing on an ankle length silhouette (sometimes pants as well, but still feminine and elegant).

This isn't really a discussion for this thread, though... Try lolita general.

Anon, do you have a sewing machine or know how to hand-sew any one of the washing machine safe stitches? You can just unpick (take out the stitches) along the sides of the dress and remove some fabric before putting it back together. The dress can look perfect and tight on you, too.

There are some days in the summer when wearing lolita is really stupid but I want to do it anyway. You have to resign yourself to the fact that you're going to be sweating your ass off. At that point it doesn't even matter what blouse you choose so fuck it. Once you've got like 3 layers tucked up around your midsection, it's just going to be rivers of sweat. So change your approach - dress for the sweat. Wear sweatpads under your arms, carry a parasol, a handkerchief to dab yourself, a bag that is not a rucksack or backpack type (your back will get soaked with sweat), bring and drink tons of water and that 1000 yard maiden stare.

I don't understand why anons are dumping every picture of a lolita with a straw hat. Let me teach you the reality of summer. Hats look very summery but when you put it on your head it is hot, it traps the heat coming from the top of your head and you just feel like your brain is barbequed.

Just because somebody is wearing short sleeves doesn't automatically equate to hot weather co-ord, anybody wearing a shirt under a JSK is asking for a heat stroke. I do it sometimes, but you must plan your day carefully, make sure you are in the safe refuge of an air-conditioned venue 95% of the time.

General summer do's and don'ts

Wear:
> Chiffon (the light, breathable kind, not the F21 kind)
> Cotton
> Your back should only have one layer of fabric stuck to it
> Boleros, chiffon/lace shawls, mini capes
> Sleeveless but please shave pits and have slim arms
> One petticoat
> No thigh gap? Wear tights
> Cotton shorts instead of bloomers (bloomers are just stupidly hot)
> Tie your hair up, if your hair is thick your hairstyle should split your hair into different sections e.g. twintails, pigtails
> Light colours
> Berets are better choice than boater hats
> Dark coloured umbrella/parasol

Do not:
> Cover the back your neck (whether with hair or fabric) but chokers are okay
> Wear black or dark colours unless super thin/light fabric
> Wear caps or hats if walking in the sun for more than 10 minutes
> Wear shirt under your dress. What are you layering for? It's summer
> Don't layer your clothes
> Wigs
> Bodyline's shirts, save them for cooler days
> Boots that extend to your knees
> White or transparent umbrella/parasol. Those things don't help.

The length of your sock is negligible. You should worry about the thickness instead. Your legs are pretty exposed, it's not covered by pants or jeans, so as long as there's some breeze, any socks or tights will be okay.

This is how I wear lolita in summer. Adjust these tips according to how and where you sweat. My weaknesses are my back, my neck, my head, crotch area. My hair is black and really thick - I can tie four separate plaits or more if I want to - maybe if your hair is thin and blonde, hats won't be a problem, I don't know.
