I saw a Gossip Girl mango drawn by some korean dude once.
Everyone looked really 70s and Chuck Bass wore a gay looking ascot.
Korean mangoes are almost all exclusively weirdly drawn and have some weird lips.

A weeb girl at my uni in my advanced illustration class insists on putting anime eyes on everything, even though the professor has failed her projects since the beginning of the semester for it. I've never liked latex for the suits, I always thought neoprene would be a much better option since the suits never appeared 'shiny' to me in the original show and the more contact with the LCL, the better, which a wet suit like material would achieve.

If it's any good at all, it's FREAKISHLY expensive. You can find Chinese knockoff latex versions for less than $200. And even then, I don't know how well those suits stay together, and there is no physical detail to them (thick sections in the shoulders, "vacuum sealing" wrist cuffs, etc.), they're just colored suits.

it's the same stuff they make wet suits/dive suits out of. it is matte and has a slight texture. I always thought the plug suits would be something similar, not a latex, but that's just me. I've only seen one girl do a plugsuit out of it and it looked great, it was an asuka from the reboot (which i have not watched, but I remember she had an eye patch and the suit wasn't her default one maybe?), but I think people were upset about her being too fat for asuka to pay attention to the plug suit material. I'm sure someone has a picture of it though.

They might not have the best faces for it, but I saw their suits in person and they were amazing. Some of the people in this thread, I've seen their suits in person as well... and they are kinda crappy up close

And up close they look pretty thrown together. Popped seams, ill fitted. They just look nice in photos because they are pretty girls.

The 4 I'm posting had literally superb craftsmanship. Their lines are drawn on with sharpie, its all piping. That in itself is a pretty awesome feat

I have never seen a plug suit I consider perfect or 'superb'. Number 1, I hate latex, I believe it is the wrong material to use for the plugsuit, I have never seen any shots of the original anime, or the later released manga, that showed the plugsuits as shiny when they weren't wet. They have the suits seperated into the leotard layered over the other pieces >>7501663 seen here and the detailing is not correct on the butt/hips (the black lines should be higher). The wrist guards are seriously terrible, they look like 2D cut outs? And I'd like to be able to see the actual front of the armored pieces and their boot covers to get a better idea of how bad/good the entire suit is. Rei's Backpack looks acceptable, but I cannot really tell in that picture and I want to see the collars on all the suits. Kaworu's seems in the background in every picture, but I THINK I like how they filled the 3D partS? can't really tell. And I can't see the 'piping' on the thinner lines to see if they really know what piping actually is or if they just sewed down a strip of black.

then the fit through the saddle/crotch is really bad. You/Your friends' suits are not terrible, I never said they were. They have parts that need work and parts I'd like to see better (boot covers and close up of the chest and collars). But I think it's really hard to take you seriously when you throw words around like 'superb' and 'amazing' in terms of their craftsmanship. I don't particularily care for Lulubird's suits either, but they are a good example of 'good' craftsmanship for the time period, those suits were made years ago, before the reboot and before we had access to certain materials and shared experience via social media like we have today. They were probably the best at the time they were made though. But I don't like the material (EXCEPT the black underparts, I like that a lot) and yes, they have a lot of weird puckering, but their wrist guards are really nice.

Not me or my friends, but I guess that's hard to really prove over the internet if you just really like a costume. I know them as friends of friends and I've seen them close up. I went to school for fashion design and I had a lot of respect for the tailoring they had going on. I guess I should have been more specific than "superb" and said "really cleanly put together" which is my version of a well made costume.

I think what's throwing me off on the wrist cuffs is that they do not appear to be attached to the suit. The piping does look nice and I like that their shoe covers look really secure and aren't puckering. I also am always a fan of anyone who does the feet FLAT and not wedged, where did this idea come out that the feet are wedged up several inches on the heel? Maybe the reboot? Because I think it looks dumb and inaccurate (like on cifera's above) and just some kind of way to make their butts look better. The hip details are great, like in OP's picture you can see that the hip stripes are just flat and a thin separate piece that they added on top of the leg pieces, which they should be very 3D and pop off of the suit and curve at the top. Plug suits are, design wise, extremely unrealistic unfortunately. You can see how she had to make the collar seperate from the chest piece, or else should wouldn't have been able to move her head/neck at all to pose. Which reminds me of the Vampy Rei suit that she bought the armor chest piece for and it's obvious she can't move her arms or neck very well in it because of how stiff it is to give it the correct rigidity to make it accurate. Granted, I do really like the look of that Rei chest piece Vampy bought because it's very spot on to the original character design, but it's impractical because she can't move her arms or neck. Which is another modification you have to make for sake of comfort, making the shoulder/upper arm pieces flexible to move and pose in.

Just because a majority has used a certain material doesn't really mean it's the best in terms of accuracy IMO. Neoprene is probably expensive and hard to work with so I assume people don't even want to try it (or they don't even think about it since as you say, most people use another material). I just think getting away from a super high gloss is best in terms of accuracy. But again, just my opinion and I never watched the reboot so maybe they added a lot of gloss to the plugsuits in the new animation.

Mari's interface is a headband in the rebuild, but in the original series, the neural interface parts aren't on headbands. If they were, they would be sold to cosplayers as headbands, like those Chobits Chii ears are. Not as clips. Even Asuka's round Rebuild interface headset are individual parts, not on headbands, as you can see when she's putting on the test type plugsuit while talking to Misato.

And, even if they were on a headband, Asuka could still wear them without pigtails for the same effect.

The girls do actually have wedged feet in some official stuff, though. I'm a toyfag and the newer Rei and Asuka figmas both have small but definite wedges. I think going with the wedges helps achieve the thin, long-legged look too so I don't really fault it.

Perhaps I'm in the minority, but I think she actually looks bad in the suit. Her arms and legs look shorter and her hips bigger (and not in a good way)
The missile boobs look ridiculous.
My only major beef with suit is the shoes; hopefully the maker will find a way to make look smoother
