Didn't see a thread up, so... Post about anything you need help with regarding cosplay or lolita.

ok, I need elf ears for a cosplay.
I have medium skin tone.

Aradani Costumes have some elf ears. Incidentally, I ordered some and got them in today, so I need help with this too... I've had no experience with this before, so I'd like some insight.

See, they offer three prepainted skin tones, which are light, medium, and dark. Light is best for well, light skin, dark is best for dark skin, and being tan, I figured medium would be the choice for me. I even sent a message to them and they said medium would do well. But... As you can see here, it ends up being a little lighter than I expected.

So a few things.
> 1. Even though they are prepainted, should I still paint them (to match my skin colour more), or do they look fine as they are?
> 2. How do I hide the parts where you can see the elf ear and my regular ear meet, so I can make it look more natural?
> 3. I need to use the spirit gum adhesive to stick them onto my ears, right?

>>7490347
I was actually looking at them. I found some tutorials but they were like
"yeah, just paint them, should take 5 minutes, paint in these areas"
and I'm just here like:
>what kind of paint?
>what kind of brushes?
>what kind of tutorial is this?

Does anyone possibly have a larger version of this? I can't find it bigger for the life of me

You should be able to make them look a bit natural with some makeup foundation, but I'm not fully confident because I never tried it.
When I had a pair of elf ears (full cover ears) I got some liquid latex and smoothed the edges of the prosthetic down. And yes, you'll need to use the spirit gum, probably, but the liquid latex will adhere them on too. Best to use both.

They're probably talking about rubber mask greasepaint, but you can paint with a mixture of acrylic paint + liquid latex. You can buy latex at Michael's it's sold as "Castin Craft Mold Builder". Latex dries a /lot/ darker, so something that looks pink on your palette will dry red, etc.

>>7490347
The lightness is less distracting than the pinkness. I assume you're going to be wearing foundation/makeup with cosplay? Seal the ears with a light layer of castor oil and then apply your makeup over them.

>>7490407
About that... I don't really know how to do basic makeup for cosplay. Don't have any experience with makeup, really. But basically I'd find some makeup that looks nice with my skin tone? Then apply that to the ears too after sealing it with castor oil?

Anyone have any advice for buying/making a bra that doesn't have a middle strap? I need something with a little lift for my Ragyo cosplay but all the silicone/strapless bras I'm finding have a middle piece. Pic related.

>Ragyo

You will probably have to use boob tape, seeing as the sides of her dress are open as well.

>> No.7492753

>>7492503
Get those stick on cups. That's about the only thing that might work (but chances are those would show on the side, so you may have to just use a ton of boob tape).

>> No.7492758

>>7492503
If the other suggestions fail, you may just have to use a strapless with a clear middle piece.

>> No.7492760

>>7492503
get the stick on cups, trim them so they don't show on the sides, and then use boob tape, stick it sort of underneath your boob a little and then lift up and stick it to your chest area under your collar bone.

I hope that makes sense.

That'll give you the lift you need and keep your nipples in check.

So this is going to be my first time buying a wig, any site recommendations? I don't have a ton of money, so maybe some good cheap wigs? I'm cosplaying Ellie from the last of us for reference.

Anyone have any patterns for making kinda funnel shaped pieces? I need to make some boots that have a very open top then go thinner. I've never done boots before so I'm kind of inexperienced in this area.

>> No.7493326

>>7493319
Anon, you have an entire other thread to yourself about your damn boots, at least wait until that one dies to go reposting to the other threads

There wasn't a help thread when I made it. Thought I would post here better before some other anon would send me here?

Not sure whether to post this here or in the lolita thread but I got an offbrand chiffon blouse which turned out to be a bit more of an offwhite than the white I was looking for, so it doesn't match with the bright white bag, tights, wristcuffs. To whiten it up, would it be safe to just try soaking it in a bleach solution and hoping for the best? Or is there a better way?

I'm planning on making an enderman cosplay and I was trying to come up with some material ideas for it but the only one i could think of was cardboard. I'm just wondering if anyone has any better ideas about what material to make it our of or at least some knowledge on how to make cardboard not look like shit.

So I'm waiting for a wig I ordered that I'm going to have to style, but I don't have a wig head yet. I'd rather get one that's actually the size of my head (23"), since I'm going to have to sew in wefts, but all the ones I see for sale are 20". Anyone know where to find larger wig heads? Or is there a good way to DIY a normal sized one larger?

Just sew some tassels on to it. Here's a video showing how to do it for a scarf, but you it wont be any different for a the shawl.

you could sew tassels onto it, or you could make tassels out of the fabric itself like pic related. prolly more work though.
