anyone looking for commissions?
anyone taking commissions?
this is the thread to do.

for those taking commissions, please state what kind of commissions you'd be willing to take, what you have experience in, as well as a photo of your work.

for those wanting to commission, post a description and photo (if you can) of what you would like.

(dear only anon that actually bothered to drop commission info last time, I lost your email, and the archive filters it out)

but someting as niche as the number of buttons?
like people will be counting each and every one?
are you going to be posted in the bad cosplay thread for not having the exact amount of buttons?
maybe if the buttons were supposed the most prominent thing in the cosplay and were relevant to the character, but they're not. you're just being nitpicky. we actually have a thread for that.

uh, if someone is making something to sell I would think that yes, they would have the correct number of buttons. I'm not sure why you're having a hard time grasping that. It's as trivial as not having piping on a collar when their should be piping. Will every one in the world care? No. Does it matter to other people? Yes.

not to mention, if I'm buying a comissioned cosplay, I'm going to assume the blouse is made to order. If something like an extra button was forgotten in the finished piece, It almost makes me think that the blouse was just picked up in a store and happened to have the right kind of front detailing and she just added the collar and cuffs.

Sorry, but that's something that stands out to me if you're showing off work to sell.

From a sewing perspective what I can tell you is that the buttons on the comissioned costume are placed properly (you need to have the button at the widest part of the bust to prevent gaping, and the distance between that and the collar determines the spacing) and spaced evenly. The first is true on the character image, but not the second. If you look at it the buttons below her bust are closer together and on real clothing that would look sloppy and weird. Also take into accound the proportions of the character compared to a real human body. I'm more bothered by the width of the belt, and dropping the top of the waist so it sits a bit lower would help achieve the longer torso the character has.

Gaping is actually due to an improper full cup alteration on the pattern (basically just a bad fit through the bust, which button placement is not going to fix). I think the button placement could be done properly but I do agree with you on the belt and skirt changes would help.

Sorry, not to say that button placement is irrelevant or anything, since yes, you need buttons in specific areas and widths down the facing. But I think there is wiggle room to add the sixth button if the belt and skirt were adjusted.

I've had such shitty experience with commissioners, it's sad.

I'm away at the moment, but when I get home in three weeks, I'm looking to take on one or two lolita (or simple cosplay) commissions. I don't want to do anything big/expensive right now, though, just simple blouses, JSKs, etc. Pic related is my most recent piece of work.

Other details; UK based, I invoice in £GBP, I'll need you to provide detailed measurements in metric (cm, I'll send you a measurement form). I don't do rush orders. I won't be starting work again until 20/4/14 at the earliest. Email is in the field, so shoot me a message and we can talk about what you need/prices. As an estimate, for the blouse in pic related made from poly-chiffon, I'd ask for £45-£55 depending on size.

I'd like to get started doing photography for Europe, I do amateur photography for local events and the city I live in, and have good artistic vision and Photoshop skills.

Would like to help out and start building a portfolio.

I made this costume after the game trailer came out, so I was working from a different reference picture than the one here. It was not a commission, but something I made for myself right before a con. It's entirely handmade, not a purchased blouse. The skirt does sit a little lower on me than the dress form, but I am stupidly short waisted and barely 5'3". The waistband portion is a little wide. If I made it again I'd shorten it.

I have a few more examples here: http://s92.photobucket.com/user/mockingbird426/library/

The women's 3rd season Trek uniform is me (lengthened about 1.5" from official length to cover my butt). The blue velvet Elizabeth is also me. The corset is spiral and spring steel boned, with the black basting intentionally left off (so obviously not something I'd do on a commission). I preferred it aesthetically that way, though I'll probably add it if I wear it again. The white lolita-inspired dress was a commission, client's design. The skirt was sold premade. The Imperial Officer uniform and Sylveon hoodie were made for a guy I know.
