If shipping is the issue, here's my suggestion:
Buy two of one of the wig styles linked. You should have enough wefts to rip for each of her pigtails, and a base wig too. Style the base wig, and use this tutorial to make your wig.

Will Kill La Kill still be relevant next year? Should I just give up? I'm newer to cosplay I've done vastly popular things like Pokemon and Zelda, but I've never tried to cosplay something newer.

I recently restyled my sanageyama wig for his blindfold outfit but I'm starting to dislike it. Should i spike it in the back and go more for a sasuke look or keep it more on the side?

It looks pretty nice, but I think it could use some refining though. The spike tips look good, but everything leading up to them is kinda sloppy. Spikes are hard to make clean looking but it makes the whole wig look way better overall if you can. Still, this is definitely one of the better Sanageyama wigs though!

Making raid trip sanageyama for AM this july. Anyone know what that necklace he wears is made of? Its never drawn very well and my best guess is its a chain of some sort.

Also for his track suit trench coat- whats the best material to make it from? Haven't done much sewing and not sure of the name of that type of material. Is there a decent starter inforgraphic on forming a coat from scratch or a decent site with some instruction?

I really don't want to be attacked for this question, but I've never watched the anime but I've been seeing some really good cosplays come out of this fandom. Like, stunning cosplays. However, I heard that the material of the show is sometimes less than... tolerable, for certain audiences. Depends on what else you've seen. If you can tolerate South Park, Gurren Lagann and Dead Leaves then it will be fine. I don't recommend watching it with family, but it's fine. Where other shows have rampant fanservice for no real reason (guy falls on top of girl and face lands in boobs etc) this show at least give it a point.

I'm interested in cosplaying Mako in her Goku uniform in several months but I'm extremely new to cosplay and am looking for some tips, if anyone has any to give. The hat style looks to be a Greek Fisherman cap but anyone have any hints on what sort of trenchcoat to look for? There aren't a lot of references that I can find. I think it's a problem a lot of people have with drawing too. They see things as individual things and not a whole so everything looks bad. They see Senketsu's patch as a boob cover and not part of senketsu's face. Or even if they see it as his eye they don't take that into consideration when it comes to the other eye so still, looks real bad.

Some Ryuko wig progress I'd like some crit on, mostly regarding the red stripe placement.
I did the front part of the bangs, and I'm working on the red stripe's placement before I sew the weft in. (The red bit arrived as a separate clip on, bleah.)

I've got to straighten the back and a bit of the sides since the wig is really thick and likes to flip upwards, but is there anything else it looks like I'm missing?

It might help you to know it's based off Jotaro Kujo's outfit from Jojo's Bizarre Adventure (pic related). Mako's hat, just like his, is only really the front half of the hat with the back "torn" off. (Don't do a full hat. It will look stupid and would be missing the point of the outfit reference.)

As far as the coat goes, to get it to look right you have to make your own, because in the design it has big, exaggerated proportions. Try finding a trench coat pattern and widening/lengthening the sleeves/shoulders/bottom/etc!

To the humble Monkey-kun from last thread or any other Sanageyamas out there, I ran into a bit of a snag. So I was worried about how the fuck to make my armor bar things and just said fuck it and sewed vinyl down. It doesn't look terrible but how did you guys get it to fold? I feel stupid for just expecting it to fold perfectly in a circle and idk how to get it to fold around the wrist or collar now..

If you buy from a reputable site they'll be passable, but from my experience there's always going to be some things that need modifying. Think of it as buying a base cosplay, you have to build on it.

I'm another two star Mako in the making and I was wondering what you guys thought about el-wire life fibers like psychedelicpaprika's? I'm on the fence about how I want to make them. El wire is an option, but the other thing I was considering was some metallic/reflective bias tape I found, that might imitate the look of the shifting fibers IRL. I need to be able to put it on my cap/hip stars, whatever I use.
There's also the option of bright red bias tape but I'm worried that'll be too plain? Mako is my girl and I want to go all out with this and look spectacular! Thanks for any help, cgl.

I'm thinking of doing Gamagoori and my hair works well for his style wise, but it's naturally a dark dark brown. Rather than use a wig, I would rather just dye my hair to match that color, but I hear bleaching is really bad for your hair and that most light dyes won't actually come out that light of color if your hair is dark to begin with.

Without a seam? Nearly impossible. Superskilled seamstresses/tailors might be able to, but you'd need to make your own design, I think. It's a dress, but one piece and has pleats at the bottom. Honestly, that makes very little sense in the world of pattern-making, because the fabric you'd use would have to flare out around your waist in order for you to make the pleats without a seam showing.
TL;DR
No, it doesn't seem possible to make her dress without a visible seam. I wouldn't sweat it though because KLK characters have very little seams shown in any outfits.

Okay, this will probably sound stupid, but whatever. The thought of cosplaying Ryuko has crossed my mind as I love the show and I have a small waist/flat stomach. However, I'm super nervous about my belly button. It's a t-shaped innie for the most part, but, I have a lip that sticks out on the top. Kind of like pic related except not that dramatic unless I'm stretching. Will this freak people out or look really bad? Should I opt for her episode one outfit instead?

If you decide to do Ryuko, all I ask is that you do it well-- don't halfass it. Have a scissor, make it look true to the original design without actually wearing her outfit-- I've seen so many lazy guy!ryukos that think a red stripe in their hair and a poorly made senketsu eye look acceptable.

Crunches are a terrible, useless exercise. If you want a good core, do Deadlifts and Front Squats, and throw in planks. As far as definition goes, run a diet called Ketosis (google it). Basically, no carbs so your body uses your fat as energy instead. it'll burn fat like nothing else. "toning" exercises don't burn fat anymore than legit strength-building compound lifts. Do SS or something, you need more muscle mass too. As far as protein goes, your body increases protein synthesis AFTER a workout. You have a good 24 hours afterwards, then it slowly tapers off. If you are working out daily though, it doesn't matter when you take your shake. Goal should be 1g of protein for every pound of bodyweight daily.

Crunches really don't do anything for you. SS is really the way to go if you want quick newbgains. I was thinking of doing calisthenics now but it'll take too long to get back to a decent point.

I've browsed /fit/ more than /cgl/ but I imagine they'd be more tightly knit considering the importance of body. Tight stomachs without equipment would be best left to the pull-ups/chin-ups and, of course, diet.

This. If you want abs l, it's mostly about diet, and if you need a stronger core, front squats and DLs are best. If you don't have a gym, do planks/weighted planks. I do absolutely zero ab isolation exercises and my core is very strong, just from heavy compounds, to the point I can hit a 550ish DL beltless and a 335ish front squat beltless. Crunches are a waste of time.

Her eyebrows are very pronounced, but they still have a distinct shape. You'd probably be better off following it more closely to avoid the Rock Lee look. Also consider light contouring on your face (Satsuki's face is fairly sharp), as well as a bit more eye makeup. Definitely do a thicker line of eyeliner on the top, a slight wing usually looks good. Another thing to consider are fake eyelashes, but for her they'd only be on the outer edge. More emphasis on the eyes should make all the difference in the world, because it's easy for them to get lost, especially with black wigs.

I have never seen anyone cosplay Simon from TTGL with black hair...idk she seems to need blue hair to me (but a deep inky blue.)

Objection! her hair and uniform is dark blue. Have a look at pic related. If they wanted her hair to be black they would have made it a dark grey like her breast plate bra thing (what is that even?) Or like Satsuki's hair. Artists sometimes use blues to represent black but I'm pretty sure this is not the case here they have represented black in other ways. Like why would they make the rest of the black stuff in the show grey but then suddenly blue for the black? It dun make sense.

I take back what I said. Just skimmed through an episode, it switches from black to blue colour purely based on shot colouring, not transformation. It's possible that Satsuki just had dark blue hair, too, but they probably both have black.

But I still generally prefer Ryuko cosplays with black-blue hair just cause it looks nicer.
Dunno mang, what do you guys think?

Hey guys, I'm working on my Satsuki mock-up, and I'm having trouble with the gold "stripes" on un-transformed Junkets. Do you think it would be better to applique on bias-cut strips, or try to pattern out one or two pieces that fit in? I'm leaning towards applique, but I'm worried it will be hard to get it to lay nicely.

Everything else is turning out fantastic so far, I'm just stuck there.

im a pretty noob cosplayer so im more than likely buying shit instead of making it myself
i found a fairly crap cosplay on cosplayfu.com
and ill probly modify that a bit
but the wigs the problem for me
can anyone point me in the direction of a decent wig for gamagoori?
i have basically no styling experience either
