I feel the same way for a lot of of store or brands that sell mori stuff, since it's the kind of thing you could make yourself relatively easily with a bunch of nice spare fabric.
Thankfully, thrifting and handmade isn't looked down upon for these kinds of fashions, if you know what you're doing at least

Would anyone have any suggestions for getting into mori dolly etc?
I know they don't have really strict rules like lolita does, but how would you differentiate between lets say mori outfits and cpk outfits, or do they just sorta overlap naturaully

There can sometimes be a very fine line between the three as all of them have stemmed from upcycling vintage clothes and puts emphasis on layering and handmade items, and often they'll overlap, especially cult party and mori.

To over-simplify:
Dolly- Puts emphasis on dark vintage. Lots of jewel tones, dark colors, can sometimes be pretty elegant depending on styling. The thing that mainly separates it from the other two is that it uses lots of patterns, especially one that you'll see on upholtery. Kinda looks like your grandma's old curtains.
Mori- Almost nothing but earthtones. Point of this fashion is to look like a forest dweller and less on the "kawaii" aspect. Lots of oversized, long length layers. Chunky ivory lace accents are popular because it's adds cuteness while still keeping that dishevealed forest-y look. Basicaly the i-dont-care-what-you-say-im-comfortable-and-warm-as-fuck while still looking like an ethereal forest fairy idk
Cult party - Harder to define than the other two, sometimes it'll end up looking like a mishmash of different j-fashions.....The most popular looks it some where between mori and fairy kei complete with pop culture motifs and therefore usually utilizes pastels. Handmade looking accessories are really common, sometimes it just looks like they've literally just rolled out of bed and just layer whatever comfortable kawaii shit they can find (especially since sleep wear items are also popular). Hairstyles and makeup usually reflect this, some people purposely do their makeup so they look kinda sickly

Of course, since a lot of them don't have "rules" especially CPK, you can just kinda do whatever you want with them, but sometimes it makes it hard to define them too so

I love that my hair length and overall natural look seems to be popular for this style. I barely would have to do anything, which is kinda funny since my hair is like this through a haircut mishap of cutting off too much. silver lining, right?

I should have known, thanks anon. I'm terrible at sewing but I'd like to think I could sew some lace to my socks, its just finding the right lace that really looks nice. I'm surprised a mori craft site or blog isn't a thing, or maybe I'm just totally missing it? sorry, the adderal is kicking in for me!!

i can't wait to get more into the mori style, i think its something good for me, i've always been into the "goffic" styles but i think the light and natural colours will be good for me.

the thing i love the most about mori is that, because it doesn't really have many rules, you can actually make your clothes- and don't have to spend a fortune with buying brand name, noth that theres anything wrong with it, but its more of an option to make your own things, you know?

This doesn't look like it's been posted yet, maybe it'll be helpful to you. Aside from differences in clothes, I think that makeup and hair in mori should be a lot more natural-looking than in dolly and cult party, which have bolder looks. Someone also made a cult party guidebook not too long ago.
