Nothing special, but not in any way "bad". They had medals the first year, but since then it's just been paper certificates. Judging is done before the show, but is pretty short per person. If you're not a participant though, then it's pretty much what you should expect. Stage. Backdrop. Lights. Production looks good overall (there are some cons with 3000 people that still don't understand the concept of lights, but that's not the case here)

I went to the first Anime-ZAP! and there were literally 100 people there. But it was $10, and lasted all day through the next day. Not much to do, but for $10 I really shouldn't complain. There were a couple times where I wasn't bored, so I think it was worth it.

I wouldn't say it was awesome, but it has improved. I feel bad for The Audio Pool. They were so fucking good, but the crowd (while enthusiastic) was small. It was really bogus that their touring poster said that they were supposed to be in Chicago, not East Peoria (helluva ways down south). They seemed pretty chill in spite of that and the dumb blizzard on Sunday.

It looks like the tea event for Baby is optional. I think I'd only go for the tea meet and the rest of the weekend would be spent in Chicago or something.

Most of my friends are doing both. They're a month and a half apart, which is plenty of time for me. I guess some of my friends do have trouble though, mostly those without jobs. Fucking economy.

I love Midwest for getting guests that nobody else ever seems to get. Every year is bigger and better than the last one, so I'm just excited. Good on them for actually getting some guests from Japan finally too.
