Best is probably the Mega64 panel, though it's been getting more crowded and less lengthy in recent years. Worst is probably the location; downtown LA isn't terribly photogenic and most of the hotels are just far enough away to be inconvenient.

Also, Claris would be doubtful due to the fact that they're like 15 or something, and never show their actual faces because they're so young. Notice how all their promo art is always some type of illustration?

I'd also love to see Dempagumi.inc, Especia, MomoCloZ, Juice=Juice, or maybe Morning Musume. MomoCloZ has never performed in America as far as I know, so they might be possible. More possible than the others, anyway.

Yeah, I watched the performance. It's a shame Pinky couldn't show up, their choreography relies so much on the images of all the members that it felt really incomplete without her there, W.W.D especially.

I'd love to see them live, but I wonder if overseas shows make them a profit. Idols are a rather niche interest in the west, so there's a large chance that the show could completely bomb and leave them without any profit at all. I think that's why those Miku shows have become popular lately; they have to pay for the equipment and probably some license to do it, but I can't imagine it costing as much as bringing over an idol group. There's a lot more to deal with when you're dealing with 2-8 real people, plus staff who accompany them, rather than a hologram and the people who run the equipment.

last year's AX was my first con and thought it was great so I'll be trying my hand at actually cosplaying this year. girlfriend and I did Kiki and Tombo for Halloween as a last minute getup and it turned out well so we might try bringing them to AX.

I began working on mounting my road bike with the propeller but didn't get around to finishing this project. would I even be allowed to bring my bike as a prop? I have no experience with what constitutes as a prop, not sure I even would want to take it considering I'd have to walk with it everywhere, but I'd figure you guys might know more about this than I would.

>Best/worst aspect about AX
I fucking hated the Project-H ecchi panel. the guests themselves were great but the wait was filled with barely 18 year olds chanting "tits!" at anyone who walked by. to top it all off we waited in line next to a group who were reenacting their favorite scenes from bible black....

>>Best/worst aspect about AX
Well, after going for 7 years, i have a huge list of pros and cons, but it's mostly nitpicking. The biggest pro is simply the experience of going to one of the largest anime cons on this side of the US. The feeling of literally being surrounded by everything you love (and hate) for 4 days is amazing. The biggest con would be cost, no matter what I do to try and "save up", I always end up spending waaaaaaaay more than I planned for (somewhere in the $1K+ range for badge, room, food, stuff).

Best: There are so many Japanese industry specialists that come out, they can always reach out to their fans, and there are so many fucking cosplayers that you're bound to catch at least one or two beloved rarities and a good number of high-quality cosplays from either dedicated cosplayers or career cosplay for series you like.

Worst: The lack of any decent food for cheap for a fucking mile, the fact that LA is full of a bunch of judgemental faggots that will give you crap if you leave the convention for any reason in cosplay, the creepers who are out to grab whatever genitals they can get their paws on because they think that's fine in cons, the catty bitches who cause shit during this massive convention, and the thieves.

Overall the community and overall surroundings are the only problems with the con. It's honestly fantastic beyond that.

Best: usually has a solid guest lineup with decent/good musical acts, cosplayers everywhere

Worst: parking sucks if you don't want to pay/walk (cheap parking is farther away, free is even farther), photoshoot areas are very limited, it's LA so shit costs a lot in general, fuck LA traffic and traffic leading to LA, 4th of July weekend which means HORRIBLE FUCKING TRAFFIC. >Best/worst aspect about AX

Most of my friends regularly attend, and I don't live too far from the con center. Generally great guests, great cosplayers, well organized, a fun con in general.
>Worst
It's very long. While I can tolerate the length, many of my friends cannot. So many arguments have broken out at AX because spending 12+ hours at a con every day for 4 days (and ~4 hours day 0, if the lines last year were any indication) really gets on everyone's nerves. Also, the hallways and the dealer's hall can get crowded as fuck.

Really? were you not on the thread (that was mysteriously deleted) that was essentially saying how bad that con is going to turn out?

the "ceo" is a /v/ fag who got out of community college and has experience in moderating an mmo forum and being staff at a couple nerd-culture cons who decided it would be cool to start a con for gaming and anime fans, which are essential the worst kind of weeboos.

They're expecting 5K people in the FIRST year, that's more than ALA had this year, and the venue for AC is even smaller. That guy must plan on viral marketing the shit out of his little con at AX, since it's only a month after it. And 4 days at a con smaller than ALA? I don't think so. There would be hardly anything to do.

AC would just be a cheap way for vendors and artists to sell the crap that didn't sell at AX. It's not going to be "amazing". Mediocre at best.

Sushi wise, I don't know about the little Tokyo location, but I like going to Kula's in Brea since all the plates are a flat $2 a piece(with the exception of only a couple items being more) Also you get the bonus of it being a revolving sushi bar, so you just pick what you want to eat. If you walk a few blocks from the main little Tokyo area, there is a big gray building that houses an excellent handmade udon place on the third floor and cream puffs (Beard Papa) on the first floor.

First, CEO graduated from college. That's a good sign.

I've seen ads on Facebook for it, so they're doing something. And several press releases on ANN. My buddy on staff says that several major gaming companies are working with them too, and that's gonna be their big "magic thing" or something.

Interested in staying at the JW Marriott though since its really close and was just wondering if the late night scene was the same as the Westin Bonaventure. Has anyone reserved a room at the new Renaissance Inn? It's part of the AX hotel block but it won't be open until June. I'm kind of skeptical since I have never reserved a room at a hotel that is still under construction. I'm still keeping my Westin reservation in case we get fucked over by the Renaissance.

Also

>$232 per night at the Luxe

Here's how it used to work:
You can buy a ticket so that you get a seat without having to play the standby ticketing line game.
You can spend a few hours in the standby ticketing line and get a ticket without paying for it.
You can, if there are still seats, show up after it starts and they'll typically let you in (not recommended for any event that is more than half full at start)
If you are entering masquerade, you do not need a ticket but you're going to spend a lot of con time doing masquerade shit (which is often sitting around waiting for other people to do masquerade shit)
And just because yes this has happened: buying a ticket does not get you an entry in the masquerade (don't. fucking. ask.)

>what are your cosplay plans
I have a group of friends that are all going. We are planing to do group cosplays. With all the people in our group its a little hard to decide which cosplays we will be doing this year, and which ones will be put off. So far we are doing a Tales of Symphonia and a Team Magma group cosplay. I will be doing a monster hunter cosplay on my own and we still have yet to decide on the last one.
>Best/worst aspect about AX
I love AX, the atmosphere, the many vendors, the guests, but I hate many things about AX as well. The lines are the worst, the lack of organization for said lines, the now horrid staff/lack of. They recently changed the way that they take on and compensate 'volunteers' so the people that take the work now see to have absolutely no people skills and seem to have no idea about any of the events/panels/workshops. Honestly last year the staff was one aspect that ruined my experience at AX. I can only hope it gets better this year.

>not looking good so far

They generally don't make the bulk of announcements until a bit closer to the con (though in earlier years, I do recall big guests being announced as early as February). When all they have is the SM dub cast and June has rolled around, then you can panic.

As much as I hate how AX has been handled in the past few years, they generally never disappoint as far as Japanese guests go.

>> No.7435616

>>7435588
Guest negotiations often aren't finalized until a few weeks before. If you've ever seen an internal schedule for a big con there are names on it that are still in negotiation because if things work out they have to be on the schedule, but things don't work out and they aren't there and they're struck from the final schedule.

>> No.7435658

>>7435588
Yeah, I'm not panicking yet. That was more in response to the anon who said "I've got news for you..." All the good people usually get announced mid-June, as annoying as that is. You would think there would be more talk about the musical artists at this point, though.

I live in Pasadena, it's pretty beautiful there. Even the poorer areas look nice because of the trees.

Also they have the metro rail starting from that city which goes all the way down to Union Station in LA, which you can take the bus to the convention center as well. Golden line, I think. Check it out, it's quite affordable.

The fact is NorCal is full of nice country like folk and SoCal is an
urbanized mess of fakery especially LA Area. I lived in both and
transplants have wreaked both. California hasn't been a great state
to live or work in since the early Millennium Decade. It breaks my
heart too especially in NorCal. The economy has gone to shit there
and it's devolved cities like Turlock, Fresno, and Stockton into
trailer trash communities. At least the parts that didn't go through
the housing boom. This state would be so much better if it was
carved up into 4 to 6 smaller states.

BTW, TokyoPOP Girl I miss you. Hope to see you again someday. I wish I had more confidence in my worth and asked
you for your contact info.

lines
avoid big-name panels if you don't want to wait for hours (possibly for nothing)
avoid autographs if you don't want to wait
cosplay everywhere (photographers everywhere)
food trucks are pretty awesome but they are $10 each (welcome to LA)
get snacks/drinks from a local store so you don't have to pay the convention center prices who charge for the convenience
weather will be hot
concerts/events have standby seating for free but there will probably be people waiting for that too so if you don't want to pay money you'll be paying time
lots of walking because the LACC is spread out. bring good shoes. the exhibit hall and panel rooms are on opposite sides

Pretty easy if your cosplaying. The bitches will literally come flocking to you if your anything above a 5/10. I consider myself a 6/10 and when i cosplay i always have random women coming up to me an hitting on me every few minutes. Some ugly, some decent, and some pretty good looking. Have banged all types of girls mostly average looking and some complete butterfaces. Pretty much every night im banging a different slut. Im not the one with the ideas either its always the girls asking me to go to their room or something. Its really really easy if your not ugly and your cosplaying. If your a normalfag theres zero chance. Don't even try unless your 8/10 and actually like anime.
