What I mean is, there ARE things that aren't up for interpretation that everyone is still doing wrong. I haven't seen a cosplay yet where I thought "well, this is good, even though I interpreted it this way instead." They're all just wrong or poorly constructed in obvious ways. Yeah you can argue people are making their costume based on the doll or a coloring book, but are they really? Who would do that? I haven't seen a cosplay that was reasonably close to either the screen or concept art or even one that was reasonably well-constructed using elements from both and a dash of creative interpretation. They're just.. not well made. Yeah, you can interpret it however you want, but that's no different from ANY OTHER cosplay, and some interpretations are probably not what the creator intended and would look really weird in the movie's intended environment. Like I don't think Elsa would have a chunky craft foam bodice or half of Las Vegas's supply of sequins on her cape, any more than Anna would be wearing a latex dress ("but we can't know!! it's my interpretation!!!"). You can argue it's your interpretation of 2d art and therefore can't be wrong but that doesn't stop it from looking stupid. And what I'm seeing people doing are making costumes that match no point of reference in the first place.
Like I don't even get how this is an argument. If I made Sailor Pluto's fuku silver and argued it was my interpretation and they made a doll like that so therefore it was just as accurate as anybody elses' Sailor Pluto, most people would just roll their eyes and walk off. There ARE totally wrong ways to do things, absolutely.

I was joking. I don't actually hate cosplayers for buying titanium blonde, jfc. If anything, maybe they will start stocking more, because before this movie ever came out they had a pretty limited supply.
