To get a feel for the etiquette in these threads - lolitas are clearly fine, and cosplay is generally frowned upon (from what I've seen, anyway). Are drawfriends okay with general jfashion, or are these threads strictly for lolitas? Most threads are very lolita-heavy, but are they lolita-exclusive?

Man I love the way you color and texturize it but the anatomy of it is just all over the place. I pointed out some of the things here like how the other forearm is streched too far to accommodate the wolf and how the legs are huuuuuuuuuge. I mean the torso is barely a fifth of her height. The wolfs front leg is also a little wonky as you'll see. Those were just the biggest things that stood out for me right away. Someone already mentioned hands but I think they're not the main issue - they're a bit simply drawn which fits the overall style anyways. Try constructing the drawings better to weed out the biggest disproportionalities and I know you can do better!

I am a bit sad I guess? This isn't a very uncommon occurrence when I get paid to draw something.

When I draw things for free at the same level of everything else people are very complimentary and nice (the person who commissioned this art said she loved it, so thats whats most important)

But when it's commissioned, it gets picked apart or made fun of or what ever. So it just feels like when it's free people feign being nice because they just want free art, when its paid for its actually shit to them.

Not necessarily. There is just a level of quality and professionalism expected when paying for art. When it's free, there's not reason to shit on it because, well, the artist is doing it for fun/practice.

While it may not have been the point of the thread, I think people shred the art to pieces because it was a commission. You can say it's "a point of contention", but the truth is that people are gonna criticize your job as an artist, especially if you charged money for a piece.

I do think the drawing needs improvement, and like >>7357760 says, decent criticism wouldn't be bad, but as much as being assholes doesn't help, praising someone and pretending the art doesn't need improvement is also detrimental to the artist. You need to grow a thick skin and learn to deal with it when someone says your art's shitty. I'm an artist as well and I know how you feel. I do think the free one you posted is way better though. I think something about commissions causes us to lose confidence so they don't come out as nicely, or we try too hard because we want to impress people but then we end up doing things that we aren't as good at. I'd say just try to stick to new things in your own work, and use your run-of-the-mill techniques in your commissions since that's what people are expecting anyway.

you should probably just opt for a long-sleeve blouse next time instead of wearing a plain knit shirt under a short-sleeve one anyway, because a long-sleeve blouse will make your shoulders look smaller and cover your arms. you could use an ivory brooch instead of the bow, or an ivory necklace to match the jsk. black tights would also look nicer with the coord, and some heels instead of boots.

I honestly like this outfit, it's simple and more of a casual look then any OTT that most lolis expect. Dark lipstick is ok with a sort of heavy make up but really difficult to pull of, so on a casual outfit it's just no, and you don't have to wear tights but if it's cold enought to wear long sleeves, it'd be way more logical.
