kawaii room thread? I need ideas to redecorate mine!

>> No.7310994

How do you guys organize your fabric (for cosplay) and clothes?
I`m having a lot of trouble keeping my room organized...
I don`t have a lot of storage furniture (like dressers and stuff) and I don`t know how to effectively use my closet space.

>> No.7311972

>>7310994
If you have lots of hanging space, but no storage furniture, look into getting hanging shelves or hanging drawers. If you have a lot of shorter clothing that gets hung up (e.g. more shirts/blazers rather than long dresses) you could also consider putting a small set of shelves or chest of drawers inside your closet. I used to put my fabric in separate bags depending on the project I wanted it for, and label the bags. My clothing...well. I have way too much of it, enough to fit a double wardrobe + a freestanding rack, my solution was to also have two giant dressers (scotch chest and a tallboy) for everything.

I'm trying to figure out cute storage ideas for hairbands/headbows, make-up, and accessories.

Does anyone have photos of kawaii rooms that are more moderate? And/or kawaii storage ideas.

I actually spot a lot of the little postcards and pencil-boards I already have, but I'd really love a large-scale brand poster to frame. I used to have some GLB cover posters I got in Japan, but they had all the folds and are crinkly.

When I move, my goal is to have nothing on the wall that isn't framed, except for calendars.

Oh cool, wall shelves to match your floor shelving will look pretty great, get going on that
You should mix it up a little on the walls and pick out bright/colorful posters to complement your dark black/red theme. More small chrome/silver accents like your trash can would look nice too.

>>7313739
I like the area where your desk is but your walls and clothing storage just seem very plain and impersonal. You have a nice clean feel to everything overall so I wouldn't want to overwhelm it with kawaii knick-knacks, I would suggest small things like having something on the walls by your dresser, some lighting a bit higher up (getting a tall floor lamp or those branch lights, perhaps), a cover for your clothing rack, maybe a black cloth/something on top of your dresser, and maybe painting the frame of your mirror black to kinda match the whole black-framed thing you've started to get going. If your budget extends to new bed linen as well, getting a large throw or bedspread to just neaten up the look of your bed would be nice, either keeping it simple and neutral or picking up on one of the cushion colours.

>>7312938
Will you also be putting your clothes in the ball pit room or is it plastic balls only? My issue with the ball pit idea is the waste of storage space (I would be SO happy if I had a whole walk-in for my clothes...) and the fact that it may just be disappointing both as a closet and a ball pit, for me the whole point of ball pits is that they're huge and full of plastic balls and let's face it, your walk in wardrobe is probably never gonna be as big and satisfying as a children's playground. Plus you're also stuck with a whole bunch of plastic balls if you move.

The panther, on the other hand, seems a bit more practical - you could turn the panther into both a focal point in the living room and a functional TV chair.

Is all of your furniture from ikea?
I love ikea furniture, and have a fair bit myself, but I think it works way way better if it's mixed in with real wood stuff. Either re painted thrift shop finds, or a good vintage piece off Craig's list. If your fond of the simple ikea designs, you will LOVE the 1950 s modern style.
Also agree with some framed artwork on the wall, and maybe if your in a warm climate some plants for your patio?

All the furniture is Ikea. Anything painting seems to messy for my liking, I rather pay for items that just need assembly.

Bedroom halp please?

I'm looking for something a bit mature I guess? I'd like a few cute or romantic elements but I do think I'd get overwhelmed with flower prints or things like that.

Immediate things I want to do with the room is paint the walls white, put plain shelves on the far wall, make the wall that the bed is placed against full of framed pictures and prints I have, possibly add a gauzy canopy over my bed and put tealights on the shelving/around the bed? Oh! And since my room is very dark (the only source of light is the lamp and I get very little natural sunlight), I was thinking of adding cute, moveable wall lamps right by my bed. There's also the corner where my dresser ends where I have nothing to put (currently an empty shelving unit that I plan to move). Maybe I could buy a dressform? Or I could get some sort of corner desk? Does anyone else have some suggestions for my room in general?

>> No.7315094

>>7314949

Cute or romantic elements: I'd decide on a colour theme for soft furnishings and stick to that. If you want romantic/light elements and are going with white, you could go for pastel colours e.g. mint, pink, or lilac. I would recommend covering the chair and getting new bedding and pillow/cushion covers. I like the idea of a gauzy canopy.

Lighting: I think you need more light over the "bed" side of your room, since it looks like that's where you spend most of your time. Is there supposed to be a bulb in the ceiling fan or not? If so, replace. In terms of wall lamps vs other lighting - I say get as many sources of light into the space as possible. Wall lamps can be decorative for your romantic theme as well as practical. I'd also think about tall standing floor lamps, a long string of fairy lights going around your room, table lamps on your dresser etc.

The corner: A dress form in that corner could be nice but also could super creepy if you wake up in the middle of the night. I'm wondering why you have the chair in front of the window/door, if you could move that to the corner and have a good source of lighting overhead it would make a super nice cozy reading nook.

>> No.7315101

>>7315094
Thanks for the suggestions anon! Maybe I could do white walls and a soft lilac or mint trim at the top with a nice pattern? The ceiling fan has no light which is an endless source of frustration, so yeah, I'm trying to add in as many lights as I can. The reason I have the chair there is because it's a bit too big to go in the corner, plus if I move it there will be a big empty space in my room and it will really bug me, I grew up in small rooms and now I have all this space and I'm not used to it, so whenever I have an empty area I think it looks off?

>> No.7315112

>>7315101
With the walls, if it's easier to paint them all white do that, you can always put lilac decorations up on your walls later and it makes matching colours less of a pain.

Embrace your empty area and put an amazing rug in the middle of it! It's a bit of an awkward space to fill anyways, if you put things in it they'll either get in your way or make the room feel cluttered. You can always hang stuff off the ceiling if you want? Icicle fairy lights?

If you can't fit the chair in the corner I would recommend pushing the cabinet thingy closer to the corner and moving the chair over, and turning the corner into a wee lights feature. I saw some cute branch lights around Christmas time that are intended to be put in a vase as a lighting/decorative feature, and I think they would go nicely. It is a very dark corner otherwise.

Thankfully we have similar tastes in color. A lot of our decorations and fabric accents are dominated by darker red, brown, cream/tan, and black. We also have a thing for darker woods, our bedframe is a cherry wood color and I'm hoping we can get more furniture pieces in a similar color.

I feel like you need a bit more lighting. Either a floor lamp between your dresser and your closet or some string lights. They always look nice on vaulted ceilings.

If you don't want a floor lamp a coat/hat rack might help. I love the minimal art on the walls but you just need a vertical line somewhere and more light

Not to me bean but you really need to pay attention to the links and pricing. Getting the entire beanbag chair like this is going to be really really expensive and it is much cheaper to just buy the cover.

Any suggestions for my room? Sorry for my shaky phone camera pictures. I need to have less stuff but narrowing down is hard....its always sorta flavor of the month things too, like any legos I built or dolls I recently get. Any ideas? I love my pink walls but I'm stuck matching to them.

Is that depression glass? Is it a whole matching set? Holy shit so jelly.

As for sprucing it up, if you want more white I'd probably paint the shelves holding your collectables up. I like the art you started putting on your cabinets, but it'd probably feel better in a complete collage on your doors, or up in frames. Your walls seem a little bare, but I think I may be a bit biased on that one. I think it looks cute so far!

I think it looks a bit random because you do have a lot of collectibles but although some are grouped by theme/type others aren't, and are grouped with other items that look very different. I would experiment with the grouping and display of your collectibles, possibly moving it off surfaces and onto the walls. Maybe larger white versions of the shelf your teapot is sitting on could be used for display. Your cabinet looks very unfinished and messy as well. If you really like those images, I recommend framing and displaying them properly. You could display a couple on the cabinet if you can drill/mount hooks on the doors, but that can be a pain when opening the doors and I would recommend making the artwork displayed statement pieces that are fairly symmetrical (same size, similar motif, colours). Other ways to add interest to your cabinet including changing or covering the handles and a different decorative motif - maybe moulding as suggested above, or even like...fake curtains draping over them (they'd just open with the door, so they wouldn't get in the way)

Really, Kotatsu seem like a nice alternative to coffee tables in a living room. I mean, if you take the blanket off, all they really look like are square coffee tables with a heater attached. I've used both "kinds" in the past and the kotatsu is really great. My model's heating element is actually covered? I don't know how to explain it. The cage containing the heater has this fuzzy texture to it, so if you accidentally bump your leg against it you won't burn yourself. However I've done the ghetto way as well and it's not worth the trouble. It was this honeywell personal heater, a cheap ikea coffee table, and a blanket draped over. It's really nice for about 6months-1 year before the constant heat causes the paint and wood to start peeling. I think around the 1 year mark it actually started to crack, so the legs needed additional wood screws to keep it together. it sucked.

Nudging this thread up.

Does anyone know where to get LEGIT AP posters? Hell, I'll settle for highres images I can print into dupes.

>it's always sparkly pink "kawaii" rooms

Would /diy/ be a good place for a thread like this?

The rooms need to be that of cosplayers/lolitas to be on this board for a start.

Secondly, there are often some cool looking rooms.

I guess since the thread is still up I'll seek advice. How do I make this cuter? I really want those Anna Sui containers but I can't find any in any other color than black. Does anyone know a similar product?

I also really wanted a Rilakkuma table cloth, but the only one I could find seemed a little too busy.
