Post here about all your socky problems and help other anons find ones that would match their coords~

I hate:
skeleton tights
bjd tights
black/white striped socks/tights
under-the-knee socks
tights that rip
burando socks where the print looks like shit when stretched
ankle socks

I'm a Zettai Ryouiki girl. I love thigh highs, over the knees, and tights. Recently my boyfriend got me into a foot fetish so now I'm including long legwarmers.

I get my socks at.. sockdreams, ebay, amazon, random department stores, and etsy. I have two pairs of secret shop socks (my only lolita socks) and I really don't like them. The print makes my calves look big sometimes and they're too much of a standout/distraction from my outfit. This is the same reason I hate tattoo tights.

My best tights come from New York & Company. I got two at an insane $2 each sale. It's been about a year or so and they show no signs of tearing or anything, and the colours are really opaque with the right thickness. I also got these sock garters from sockdreams which turned out to be a godsend since I was sick of sock glue leaving gross residue whenever it wears off. I'm so tempted to get other colours.

I work in a tights shop, so I get a lot from there, a few from eBay/taobao, and I have a few from sockdreams. If I didn't have to wear the work ones so much I would be all over a taobao and storenvy for printed tights. I love them. I also wish the same prints they would make for OTKs could be made a little longer, like thigh highs. I love most OTKs but they tend to make my legs look shorter and chubby. I'm only 5'0" and around 98 pounds, but I don't have skinny legs so I guess OTKs just aren't for me.

Oh, and by the way, since the weird Steve Madden transition for Betsey Johnson, a lot of bigger companies are selling her tights/legwear super cheap (at least half the price), as supposedly they've been discontinued. Found some really nice ones at Burlington Coat Factory, Strawberry, and DSW.

Macy's I think also has some, but I don't know at what price.

>> No.7289551

I buy socks from e'rrwhere. Ebay, sock dreams, yandy, we love colors... Whoever has what I want for a decent price.
But, I wont buy custom tights cause I'm always terrified of buying things without knowing how they will be, especially when they're more than $10. One day I will stop being a chicken and try some out.

Some of the tights that have become popular in the past year only look good on certain types of legs, and I won't ever have those legs (BJD tights and the fake thigh-high cats one, I'm looking at you).

I recently went crazy and bought about $60 works of stockings and tights that I wont be able to wear until the spring. I have no shame. They are glorious. Well, most of them anyway.

I'm 6'0 and brand otks barely go above the knees. Would a garter belt fix this? I like wearing OTT but I look stupid with utk otks.

Where specifically do people buy lacey tights with loliable designs? I can only ever find solid colors, diamond shapes, or ones that look like they wont last 1 wear without ripping. (or ones that are beautiful but over my budget)

Also are http://www.ebay.com/itm/400629260971 worth buying? or buy something better? I need socks to match that skeleton giraffe print from kidsyoyo and i'm uncreative.

>Where do you buy custom tights?
I haven't yet. I'm tempted to try making my own on Funny Legs, but most of the custom tights I've seen from lolita indie brands don't appeal.

>What irks you about burando socks?
They get holes in the toe really, really easily. I wish they were reinforced just there somehow. I know that they wouldn't stretch well if they were thicker throughout, but a little extra padding in the toe region would save me a lot of darning.

>What socks are overused and ruffle your frills?
I'm getting over the use of random printed tights in every lolita outfit ever. It's nice with solid pieces, but pairing prints with prints on top of prints is cluttered and messy.

I wear otk socks a lot too because I find the look really cute and they look great with short skirts (that little leg gap really balances out the length and makes my legs look great).

Only thing is I get SO MUCH attention, like random dudes hitting on me, taking my picture, etc. I feel like even though they're sold in a lot of stores, they're not really mainstream (at least not worn with a miniskirt like that) and seen as rather daring. I get compliments too which is nice, but sometimes I feel as conspicuous as when I wear lolita. So I only do zettai ryouiki when I'm in a good mood or feeling confident, and definitely not when I'm going to some shithole like Wal Mart.

My favorite casual pair is from Kohls from the Vera Wang line. They're solid black and have the perfect thickness and stretch and I wish I'd bought more of them. They stay up well too.
Out of my lolita ones, I love my lace-topped Moitie socks. They use the most gorgeous lace, it's really fluffy and nice. Unfortunately they only come in "Moitie colors" which is white, black, and ivory. I'd totally get them in other colors if I could.

I have the Royal Jewels ones and have no issues with them. I also have AP tights (DDC, Royal Chocolate) and have no issues with them either.

With AP tights, I find I have to pull the tights and stretch them out as I pull them up my legs. If I leave too much slack then the tights can't go all the way up to my crotch.

With Haenuli tights, I leave a lot of slack. They do go all the way up and stay up just fine, the fabric is just less stretched out than the AP tights, which is nice because the black ones don't become as grey as the AP tights.

I'm not very skinny though, I only wear shirred AP dresses and have thunderthighs. Maybe that's why I have no issues with Haenuli tights.
