Housetrapped: cosplay from Homestuck, or people giving away Homestuck things in AA

Preparations for War/Great Victory: I had to drop my Eiyuu cosplay for ALA, but I'll still be giving these ribbons out on request. Answer basic character trivia for the first, and combat system trivia for the second.

Scout's Honor: Perform a CORRECT SnK salute, or trade for this. Another Hanji and Armin will have this ribbon.

Morphine Tag: DMMD cosplayers, DMMD fanartists, or as a trade ribbon. A flashback Trip will also have this.

Life Fiber Forfeit: Only given out while I'm cosplaying Mako. "As former president of the Fight Club, you'll have to defeat me for this ribbon!"

We're at a really interesting predicament as the number of people wanting to participate/will be watching keeps growing (with it only getting higher once the con starts) but the number of applications we get are zero.

Ehhh not really sure what my cosplay plans are. I was debating on bringing idol!Mitsuki Nase (possibly for Thursday), Blake Belladonna (for Friday), and MAAAAAYBE pregnant!Eureka (for Saturday), but I'm not really sure. You can order through Chaz, or you can set up your own order through the company of your choice. The latter can be significantly cheaper depending on the company you order from, but IMO the place the official con ribbons come from are higher quality.

Independent ribbons don't have to be con-approved, just don't be an idiot and do anything derogatory or offensive.

If you don't get a badge, you won't be able to go into the dealer hall, panels, or to dances. All of those things can easily be got around.

I can't confirm the foot slice, but when I got back to the hotel (balcony, pool view) I heard from my roommates about the broken bottle and the pool being closed. Version I got from someone was that they had broken the bottle while trying to toss it across the pool to a friend.

Other cons also do this type of marking the underaged but mostly because it's easier to identify who to let into the 18+ panels, because there's liquor vendors, or because of other reasons and it's much easier to to do that than ask everyone to carry their ID.

It was cool for the most part, I wasnt there for most of the tournaments but I WAS there for the Brawl tourney and please please please, have more than one TV setup. ESPECIALLY for a semi popular game like that. It lasted basically 5 hours and there was only like 36 entrants. Barely had time to even enjoy the con that day

Only due to their usual size compared to other tournaments, since its a widely played game and people arent intimidated to join even if they arent great.
I personally blame the staff leading the event, he was great but making the entire tournament 1v1 with only one TV setup was a giant mistake, which is why most smash tourneys start off with free-4-alls to weed out the bulk of the players. Of course I dont expect every tournament to be run smoothly, especially since these were free, but a second TV wouldve made everything MUCH smoother, because its not as if there wasnt a second Wii to hook up, and plenty of empty TVs.

I suppose the other scheduled tourneys werent like that though, which was good, but I cant vouch for that.

Con was alright, even though I logged in something ridiculous like 24 hours as staff.

Fun costumes everywhere, our maid cafes up on 18 were fantastic, the press thing was new this year and will be completely polished up next year with a full-on battle plan, and I got my fucking flask.

Weird drama between attendees did happen, but staff tried to stay out of it as much as possible while still providing necessary amounts of assistance. Our team kicked nine kinds of ass and we survived you animals once more. To any staff or volunteers who see this, we did it, guys. I love all of you. Now to start planning for next year.

ALA 2014: Went better than expected con!

This year I had a fantastic time. A couple bumps here and there but overall had a fantastic time! Roommates were stellar, new job came with new responsibilities and I was able to not drop them at the con. Cosplay chess was a huge hit this year and I think one of our best at ALA! I'm super grateful for all who participated~ Masquerade this year was fantastic and the performances were amazing! I've never felt that much energy from the green room before and it was beautiful and refreshing! I absolutely loved it. Trolled the AMV contest unintentionally. Won a kendo stick. Such talent, amaze. Aaaaand cosplayed a bunch of new things and they were all a hit! ALA 10/10. I was also really impressed with the small amount of peeps drinking on the pool decks and around the con in general. It was extremely noticeable.
