Well, some of them might re-run. I'd like to see some new blood in competitions but I myself can't be bothered to make 2 competition level cosplays, so I can't blame anyone for not entering.
That said, I hope that doesn't leave competitions the too inexperienced/bad but bold cosplayers. Recently we come to see a couple of really good cosplayers in competition running against kids who just want to have fun and cosplayers that are don't have enough experience to put a good costume together yet. I don't mean to say they shouldn't compete, it's good for them, but I'd be terribly embarrassed if they won and went on to represent us in other countries.

I get the feeling that this country scene has stagnated completely. We had really nice cosplayers that no longer are active or that make one or two costumes each year and lots and lots of shitty cosplayers popping up.
That's why aside those two victories we always place so poorly on the int competitions.
I wish Portugal could place on the WCS

About eurocosplay, I wish I could actually discuss it because I didn't really watch many of the other competitor's skits to judge but they seemed a bit.. boring? I didn't get the girl's skit, the audio didn't help. As for the guy, I think the skit could have had quite some potential? It seemed rushed to me, I don't know how to explain.

We just leraned that Adrii bought her Asuna cosplay despite saying she made it, Manon and dragan badmouthed Adrii but made her props, Dragan insulted one of the sakuras but dont want to say which one, we hear all about the details about Lenore break up with her boyfriend, Mimi didnt like how he placed etc etc etc

This only proves that ask really is a platform for the attention whorish cosplayers. They literally answer the most stupid and drama instigators questions lel

As far as I remember, she asked some guy that was trying to get friendly with her pants to buy it for her and when he figured out that it wasn't going to happen he posted the order along with their conversations on her facebook.
I think that was it but correct me if I'm wrong anons, I'm writing off the top of my head.
Though even before, a lot of people were suspicious of the materials and the sewing on the costume.

Actually, a lot of people. It's almost a running gag to to hear that if someone won a contest "their grandma/mother/somebody made it". My favorite is when the grandma is accused and is about 85 years old.
I think it's no sense to think that people with over 6 years of cosplay (Leo, Leandro, Sakura and others) and a million costumes rely on family for that. I'm sure they get help here and there but from that to ALL THEIR COSTUMES ARE MADE BY OTHERS it's quite a scretch

you can however see how Leo didnt really make all her costumes, up until the esther queen on fibda, her grandma made them than all of the sudden she makes that balgown? Even Miah said it was fishy.
Then she post her wip of her latest costume, sheryl nome red dress and that wip looked so badly constructed! Even though her grandma passed knowledge to her she still isnt a very good seamstress.

It's kinda stupid to lie about having made a costume that was bought because those things are usually easy to find out. Either it looks like a costume bought online (you usually can see by the type of fabrics, seams, etc) or the costume will look too well made for the person's skill level. It's not hard to catch a liar.

Speaking of events, I was wondering how would your dream event be and important elements in events (I realize there's a thread about it already but our events are so much smaller/different from big countries that it's hardly worth comparing).
As for me:
- Organization for fuck sake, I don't even remember being in an event where things started on time
- Cosplay contest
- "Artists Alley", they always have cute things and it's fun to chat up the people there
- Food stand with actual decent food, instead of just over-priced ramen
- Location with spacious bathrooms/changing rooms and space in general
- Games Room
- Stores
- Pannels, though I appreciate it's hard to get good ones
- Quiz, karaoke seem popular, even though I don't participate, it wouldn't really be an event without hem
- Cloakroom
- A goddamn funny host
- Even though the execution was poor, I think the photoshoot room in Anifest had potential

And i'm speaking as a person that has to move from far away to go to cons. Fuck's sake, pick good locations that people can find, and are spacious enough to put everything in. I'm really disappointed when I travel from far, to go to cons at shitty places, with a bad organization.

I really liked Japan Weekend in 2010. With a better organization is would have been great. Too bad we're a country at the edge, the only people who would bother to travel to come to our cons are the Spanish. And even they don't have reason to come to our cons.

- Spacious changing room. So many of them are just crowded bathrooms (Midori II I'm looking at you) that I just do the whole trip in full cosplay now
- Cloakroom/ place for bags. It really sucks when it is a weekend long event and you have to carry around your bag with all your stuff the whole day
- Easy to find locations. I usually come with friends or have friends pick me up, otherwise I'd be lost forever.

For me Photoshoot never disappoints (as it doesn't have much to start with) I always have fun.

from a cosplayer point of view I really wish that the ones that are more experienced were asked to make detailed workshops, not palestras, had a nice space to get their picture taken, I have no photographers friends, and I really wish people would invest in prizes. Not everyone wants to go abroad and have the "burden" of representing the country in front of europe but it dosent mean they wouldnt participate if the prize was a dressform, 50 euros to spend on the fabrics store or just general sewing material. Because you don't have to compete to get people to see your costume, all you have to do is attend an event and walk around. Contest costumes take (hopefully) extra time and effort and you also have to come up with a good skit, make stage props, rehearse, transport said props to the event,... not everyone is willing to go through all that jazz just to get their work recognized (though I'm not saying there's anything wrong with competing just for the sake of competing or having fun). What would the audience like to see on stage? Comedy skits? Something more dramatic/serious?
What do you enjoy seeing in a skit?

I'm asking because it seems, to me at least, that many cosplayers usually end up doing the same thing on stage, be it dancing (I personally find dance skits a bore because most aren't even well choreographed), swinging around props while walking around the stage, unfunny/comedy skits that no one understands except for the cosplayer/fans of the series.

It's also quite hard to get any kind of special effects going on for a skit, unfortunately.
Also, almost every contest has sound/light malfunctions, it's kinda annoying.

As you said, almost all "funny" skits aren't really that funny, so I'd say stay away from that unless you're in just to have fun with your friends. Dance skits only make sense if the series actually involves dancing and you're good at it (which is usually not the case). In that case, I think what's missing from the skits you're mentioning is motivation. You could make a decent skit with:

Variations to why character is sad are welcome but this sort of skit makes it easy to introduce a short story and give some depth to the character.

Just saying, Sala Tejo is the Auditório of Meo Arena.

And really, that room is the biggest out of the not-that-expensive options. Above that only FIL and you would never fill up a FIL pavillion with an anime con, ever (those things are fuckhuge) Sala Tejo seems crowded because of how things are organized (lots of space to the booths, not much space to the people). If you go there on other events, you'll see how big it is.

Well in a event at Aniplay of Halloween The EC representant was with her friend (by that time) and she was eating her ramen, the moment Rita got up the girl was giving her the ramen and it fell all over her (accidently) and they went to the bathroom to clean up because Rita was worried about that accident.
The thing is people are saying it's her fault and that they heard the girl (EC) saying that it was on purpose, I was there, I saw it and it was an accident.

Now they are not friends for unknown reasons and people are saying that she made that on purpose.

It started because she said congratulations by her being on the before last place at EC (that she was happy because she got a better score than the other portuguese contestant)

Usually there's the con where the competition to go to ECG happens (I believe it will be Anifest, but it changed last year so I can't be sure) in September, the Manga and Comic Event do Algarve in August and some smaller ones scattered around.
Early announcement isn't a thing cons/events are know by here so you'd be better off asking about it again in May. None of them require you to buy the ticket in advance (as small countries have small communities and small cons) so you don't have to worry about it.

Rita apologized and asked why she was ignoring her and what she did wrong. No answer. She asked some of Ema's friends. No one knew. (if they knew, they didn't say). She kept trying to talk to Ema, but all she got was a cold shoulder and indirect attacks.

Don't get me wrong. Rita probably did small mistakes that accumulated and ended up in Ema's rage. But as a friend, she should tell her, instead of ignoring her and spreading love
