Here, OP, just so that the thread doesn't derail much into ORA POIS and HUEHUEHUE.

Looking forward to what Chibi-Cat will do this year. And some others who I won't post here because leldramas.png

I hope I see more cosplayers pop up next year.

I'm looking forward for the WCS and how we will do and for who will be selected for the EC and ECG since all the popular cosplayers have entered already.

>> No.7270426

>>7270295
Well, some of them might re-run. I'd like to see some new blood in competitions but I myself can't be bothered to make 2 competition level cosplays, so I can't blame anyone for not entering.
That said, I hope that doesn't leave competitions the too inexperienced/bad but bold cosplayers. Recently we come to see a couple of really good cosplayers in competition running against kids who just want to have fun and cosplayers that are don't have enough experience to put a good costume together yet. I don't mean to say they shouldn't compete, it's good for them, but I'd be terribly embarrassed if they won and went on to represent us in other countries.

>> No.7270787

>>7270426
I get the feeling that this country scene has stagnated completely. We had really nice cosplayers that no longer are active or that make one or two costumes each year and lots and lots of shitty cosplayers popping up.
That's why aside those two victories we always place so poorly on the int competitions.
I wish Portugal could place on the WCS

>> No.7274385

Portugal can't place at the WCS, we're just observers this year.

>>7282315
Still quite a bit until March, dang. I'm eager to see the first cosplays of the year.

About eurocosplay, I wish I could actually discuss it because I didn't really watch many of the other competitor's skits to judge but they seemed a bit.. boring? I didn't get the girl's skit, the audio didn't help. As for the guy, I think the skit could have had quite some potential? It seemed rushed to me, I don't know how to explain.

We just leraned that Adrii bought her Asuna cosplay despite saying she made it, Manon and dragan badmouthed Adrii but made her props, Dragan insulted one of the sakuras but dont want to say which one, we hear all about the details about Lenore break up with her boyfriend, Mimi didnt like how he placed etc etc etc

This only proves that ask really is a platform for the attention whorish cosplayers. They literally answer the most stupid and drama instigators questions lel

Can someone post the euro cos contestants this year and which one was last?

Well, that was common knowledge, specially the Adrii thing was all over facebook when it happened. Dragana seems to have forgotten how to anon or just wanted to show everyone that she's not very pleasant. I don't find really surprising that Mimi didn't like his placing since he placed last, no one would like that.

>> No.7284233

>>7284202
I'm actually a very far away anon and i'm not close to any of them but the way they always advertise their problems and faults everywhere makes me feel like the older brother that its not related to the drama but ends up experience it and face palm at it.

How did anyone find out about Adrii buying her costume? I know that when it was Lynn they had caps of her ebay account.

>> No.7284258

>>7284233
As far as I remember, she asked some guy that was trying to get friendly with her pants to buy it for her and when he figured out that it wasn't going to happen he posted the order along with their conversations on her facebook.
I think that was it but correct me if I'm wrong anons, I'm writing off the top of my head.
Though even before, a lot of people were suspicious of the materials and the sewing on the costume.

Far too lazy but a quick type on facebook's search bar will show you who they are. For Dragana you'll have to search Lokeva or something and Mimi has a joint fanpage with Steffy so search those two names together.

Actually, a lot of people. It's almost a running gag to to hear that if someone won a contest "their grandma/mother/somebody made it". My favorite is when the grandma is accused and is about 85 years old.
I think it's no sense to think that people with over 6 years of cosplay (Leo, Leandro, Sakura and others) and a million costumes rely on family for that. I'm sure they get help here and there but from that to ALL THEIR COSTUMES ARE MADE BY OTHERS it's quite a scretch

Speaking of events, I was wondering how would your dream event be and important elements in events (I realize there's a thread about it already but our events are so much smaller/different from big countries that it's hardly worth comparing).
As for me:
- Organization for fuck sake, I don't even remember being in an event where things started on time
- Cosplay contest
- "Artists Alley", they always have cute things and it's fun to chat up the people there
- Food stand with actual decent food, instead of just over-priced ramen
- Location with spacious bathrooms/changing rooms and space in general
- Games Room
- Stores
- Pannels, though I appreciate it's hard to get good ones
- Quiz, karaoke seem popular, even though I don't participate, it wouldn't really be an event without hem
- Cloakroom
- A goddamn funny host
- Even though the execution was poor, I think the photoshoot room in Anifest had potential

>> No.7287477

>>7287343
- Real food.
- Artist Alley away from the Karaoke. I don't know why the fuck people keep putting both together at cons, it's unbearable to be there, I don't know how the artist can handle it for two days.
- Changing Rooms and a place to put bags
- Better Security!
- The Panels idea is a good one.

>> No.7287497

>>7287477
I absolutely agree that karaoke shouldn't be near anyone's tables or stands.
>Better Security!
Have there been problems before? I never heard of anything but I'm not very informed about those things

>> No.7287529

>>7287497
I wouldn't be surprised if expensive cameras have been stolen before. Also cellphones. It honestly doesn't surprise me at all.

-Spacious changing rooms, btw. Because honestly some of them are horrible, people don't fit there.
-Entertaining panels
-More and a bigger variety of workshops

And i'm speaking as a person that has to move from far away to go to cons. Fuck's sake, pick good locations that people can find, and are spacious enough to put everything in. I'm really disappointed when I travel from far, to go to cons at shitty places, with a bad organization.

I really liked Japan Weekend in 2010. With a better organization is would have been great. Too bad we're a country at the edge, the only people who would bother to travel to come to our cons are the Spanish. And even they don't have reason to come to our cons.

I come from far to attend events too and events aren't always thoughtful of us, even though we make an extra effort to attend them
- Spacious changing room. So many of them are just crowded bathrooms (Midori II I'm looking at you) that I just do the whole trip in full cosplay now
- Cloakroom/ place for bags. It really sucks when it is a weekend long event and you have to carry around your bag with all your stuff the whole day
- Easy to find locations. I usually come with friends or have friends pick me up, otherwise I'd be lost forever.

For me Photoshoot never disappoints (as it doesn't have much to start with) I always have fun.

from a cosplayer point of view I really wish that the ones that are more experienced were asked to make detailed workshops, not palestras, had a nice space to get their picture taken, I have no photographers friends, and I really wish people would invest in prizes. Not everyone wants to go abroad and have the "burden" of representing the country in front of europe but it dosent mean they wouldnt participate if the prize was a dressform, 50 euros to spend on the fabrics store or just general sewing material. I really wodnt mind getting a trophy either. i'm so sick of the stupid Iberanime awards and their plushies and IA merchandizingD:

>> No.7290199

>>7290146
Exactly, I'm not really into merchandise so the prizes aren't appealing at all. Money prizes, sewing and crafts material, you could even throw in a wig. Trophies aren't that hard to get done either. I've heard people saying "ugh, but then people would only enter for the prizes" but well, that's how contests work and people are always complaining that very few cosplayers actually compete. Maybe if they'd get something worth competing for people would compete more.

>> No.7290231

Why compete only for prizes if the costume is already made? why not compete so everyone can see it?

>> No.7290235

>>7290231
sometimes the prize is that little extra boost. I like competing but as stupid as it sounds on the day i'm like whatever, I dont feel like going to the walk on but if there was a prize I would really push myself to do it. Some people are lazy, others just to laid-back. Prizes take out the jungle out of us and makes us harder on work at least its that way for me. i'm sick of those Ia plushies they give especially when they make so much money of the event.

>> No.7290269

>>7290231
Because you don't have to compete to get people to see your costume, all you have to do is attend an event and walk around. Contest costumes take (hopefully) extra time and effort and you also have to come up with a good skit, make stage props, rehearse, transport said props to the event,... not everyone is willing to go through all that jazz just to get their work recognized (though I'm not saying there's anything wrong with competing just for the sake of competing or having fun). People have different drives and I think it would be better for the community if we could get more people in contests.

>> No.7291277

As a cosplayer, I'll leave a question.
What would the audience like to see on stage? Comedy skits? Something more dramatic/serious?
What do you enjoy seeing in a skit?

I'm asking because it seems, to me at least, that many cosplayers usually end up doing the same thing on stage, be it dancing (I personally find dance skits a bore because most aren't even well choreographed), swinging around props while walking around the stage, unfunny/comedy skits that no one understands except for the cosplayer/fans of the series.

It's also quite hard to get any kind of special effects going on for a skit, unfortunately.
Also, almost every contest has sound/light malfunctions, it's kinda annoying.

>> No.7291300

>>7291277
I have the same question.

Bamp

>> No.7291494

>>7291277
As you said, almost all "funny" skits aren't really that funny, so I'd say stay away from that unless you're in just to have fun with your friends. Dance skits only make sense if the series actually involves dancing and you're good at it (which is usually not the case). I like skits with a small story that you can convey to everyone, mostly through your actions on stage (skits where the cosplayer just stands there while a story is told are no fun).

>> No.7291495

>>7291494
funny would be good as long as everyone can understand it and it isnt a flavour of the month meme

>> No.7291504

>>7291495
Yeah, actual funny "funny" skits are rare, most of them just borrow memes and internet jokes and feel cheap. Also they usually don't bother to set up context so either the jokes are inside jokes of the fandom and others don't understand or they're so board (and sometimes out of character) that they could have been said by anyone that steps on the stage.

>> No.7291516

>>7291504
You see, setting up the context for anything is very hard because the time is very limited. With 1 to 3 minutes of skit, you either do one thing or the other or do the both very quickly (which can be a loss for both parts). It's a tricky thing, although doable in some extent.

I'd like our contests to not have a time limit like in the other countries, but I guess that would be chaos.

>> No.7291564

>>7291516
Indeed, I realize that, that's why I'd advise against funny skits when you're trying to make a good skit, unless you have a really good idea

>> No.7291573

>>7291564
The problem applies to the serious skits as well, if they are about the story of the anime.

In Brazil they have this "traditional" skit category in which you copy a scene of the anime/manga/game. Maybe we should try that here? I'm up for everything.

>> No.7291577

>> No.7291583

>>7291577
That's what I think as well, but since I never tried it before maybe it would be interesting, especially for obscure characters that nobody knows. I'm getting some ideas now, adding a bit of a twist to this concept maybe we can get something fun to watch.

Still on skits, how does everyone feel about drama/tragedies? I feel like people are only there for the easy laughs and that they are disappointed when the skits are not funny.

>> No.7291604

>>7291583
I feel like sometimes it's hard to get in the mood because of how short the skits have to be but, in my opinion, they're usually better than comedic skits, as they usually have a little story that everyone can understand and relate a bit. One must be careful not to put too much dialog on a skit, though.

>> No.7291920

>>7291836
You may want to re-read what you write before you post, it's not very clear, but I assume you mean usually people just pretend to cry and it wouldn't hurt to bring something new?
In that case, I think what's missing from the skits you're mentioning is motivation. You could make a decent skit with:
>I had friend/family/love interest
>they be dead
>I am sad and feel like give up
>No, friend wouldn't want that
>I will fight in memory of friend
>Look at my prop, it represents my will power
Variations to why character is sad are welcome but this sort of skit makes it easy to introduce a short story and give some depth to the character.

So... Ema really is the sweet, poor, victim

Anon I dont know both sides, only what I was told I found her story very fishy because they arent just cosplay aquaintecies, you go to both cosplay pages and there's photos of both of them like they are best friends and then one of them cuts the other off because she was congratulated?
And after that Rita did nothing but to badmouth her former partner. I actually asked her what really went on but I'm waiting for the answer.

Lol see? You don't believe it, do you?

Neither did Rita. She asked Ema what happened and she never told her.

And badmouthing? I'm not aware. From what I've seen, I saw absolutely no attacks on her "ask, while I saw at least 1 on Ema's.

That must say something

That aside, I'm sure Ema didn't badmouth her at all. She's such a sweet girl after all

"Rita is a monster that did everything possible to ruin Ema's cosplays. She even badmouthed her, even though they were good friends before. Poor Ema"

I dont believe Rita side of the story thats what i'm saying. That really cant be all that is to know. I'm not friends with Ema so I cant directly ask her either. I f Rita is coming to this saturday meet Ill be sure to talk to her though.

What I'm really reading doesnt adress Ema al all but Rita and her issues wich someone happen to include Ema. maybe we can get some of her (Ema) whitknights here so we can start tearing her apart too?

Again you sound like a person who has a very personal relation with her and is speaking like a brat. Just let this go, its already on sage mode. It will last one day more only.

I'm just an Anon here, but I asure you.

Rita apologized and asked why she was ignoring her and what she did wrong. No answer. She asked some of Ema's friends. No one knew. (if they knew, they didn't say). She kept trying to talk to Ema, but all she got was a cold shoulder and indirect attacks.

Don't get me wrong. Rita probably did small mistakes that accumulated and ended up in Ema's rage. But as a friend, she should tell her, instead of ignoring her and spreading love

I know her, that's all.
I am aware of most of what happened, since I avoided getting attached to one side

ad hominem you say? have it your way I wont discussed it. But since you clearly made up your mind about someone let me enlight a point in this thread.

Both girl were badmouthed here. no one really care about Ema enough to defend her so The issue was dropped and not fed. Rita however has made posts about this thread, now erases her ask and is here or her friends are thats why the thread got derailed by her. next time do better and ignore it.

Wow that escalated pretty fast. She turned from a subject to a mastermind and ideias got quite confuse.
The cosplay I don't know, I never met her but it seems that she Is a mastermind just because she Is not friends with Ema?

Let's talk about real facts. They are not friends, ok. But the rage point only Ema came out ando the only thing chat really happened was that.

The costumes Is not something to mix with a girls fight.

The only one who said one thing was Rita, no doubt but still, who raged and start with badmouth? Ema. How did this rage start and who was the subject? Rita. Well I would get mad to.

This was just sad
