Last weekend I attended this insane christmas party in the boonies (didn't realize it was going to be 60+ people when we decided to go)

It was just hilarious because she was this sweet little thing in an adorable bonnet, and she totally shut that mean lady down. I usually just kind of step aside and hope people will leave me alone, but it's always awesome to have someone in the group not afraid to stand up to people like that.

For the record, we all looked cute as fuck.

There are a group of men at the college I attend that harass every Lolita here, and there are about four of us. We don't travel together around campus, but we all avoid certain areas of the school because they always hoot and holler at us.

I've had people scream 'whore' out the side of their car when I'm in a full coordinate with tights and a long-sleeve blouse.

My favorite though is the teacher who insisted I not wear my 'fetishistic' clothes to class (college-maths) and when I tried to explain myself he said he would have to report me to school security. The security officer was actually a friend of a friend who laughed at the teacher for being stupid, but I still had to drop out because he was harassing me so much. (Ie: Telling students I did sexual things in the dress, asking if I were gay, trying to get me to speak allowed in front of the class to 'explain' my clothing choices.) Yes, I reported all this behavior. He ended up leaving at the end of the year anyway. Probably the worst semester of my entire life.

My fave response is always to whip out my own phone and start taking pictures. I've done this twice now.

The first time, the person evidently realised the point I was trying to make (i.e. taking pics of strangers without asking is weird), and started laughing, before apologising for being a tool and asking if he could have an actual posed picture. We had a bit of banter about the situation afterwards and I like to think he went on to be more courteous in future.

The second one was on a train. This person clearly didn't get what I was getting at, because when I started copying them surreptitiously trying to get photos, they looked at me as if I was the only weirdo taking unwarranted pictures and moved seats.

It's rude and really weird to take photos of random strangers. Lolitas are still people who deserve basic, polite treatment. Wearing something outlandish does not automatically make you fair game for harassment. Sure, I totally understand the staring and people asking questions, but there's absolutely zero need for people to be nasty or rude about it. So I'll stand my ground and confront them if they are.

Posed pictures look way better than a shitty blurry shot of us walking and looking the wrong way anyway.

All of this seems pretty normal. I'm assuming most the women here are younger. 18-30.

Men that age make fun of everyone and everything, especially their own friends and women in their age group. So walking around in Lolita you should expect them to say things, and if they know they're getting under your skin they're definitely going to keep doing it because young men are pricks like that and they'll think its funny. Most of them are also too stupidly callous to know they're actually hurting your feelings. Some of the biggest pricks are nice people once they realize they're actually causing you emotional distress.

I love guys like that.
I usually work at a restaurant but that is only enough for bills and food so I do part time work with my dad to pay for Lolita items. It's general labor but get $500 in 3 days so it's worth it. Only down side is that I work with 50 guys (usually Hispanic) that act like they've never seen a girl before. We get grouped up with people and my favorite guy to work with was this guy in his 50s, has a speech impediment from a car accident (some assholes think he is just slow and retarded), 6'3, ~300lbs, and always talking about his little boy who is 7 years old. Experienced rapist know this. Not that it really matters much because attackers from the shadows are not nearly as likely as someone you trust, but the danger of someone who has planned to go out and rape a stranger is significantly lowered if they have a weapon they can use from a safe distance.

Sorry, I don't like people spreading false information when it deals with other peoples safety. Even if it did work for you once, it doesn't mean it's a good idea to tell everyone here that a knife is an effective tool against random attackers because it's really, really not.

My bf insists on me carrying pepper spray because I work outside of a busy mall in a city. Its attached to my Super Dollfie lanyard, heh. I actually saw his reflection get up and leave pretty fast so I never had to use it or even threaten to.
