Mine's not so bad.

Last weekend I attended this insane christmas party in the boonies (didn't realize it was going to be 60+ people when we decided to go)

>walking around party meeting people
>very drunk, older man grabs my upper arm and tells me I look 'Sexual'
>'I think you are pretty drunk if you think that'
>he laughs and walks away
>later I am walking to the dance room, he shows up and grabs my arm again, pulls me inside the dance room and starts grinding on me
>'Wth guy?' <literally run out of dance room>
>an hour or so later in dance room with a friend while someone she knows is singing karaoke
>old drunk-san returns, grabs my arm AGAIN and tells me 'I just want to let you know, I want to throw you down and ruffle your petals.'
>'Um, No, please leave me alone.'
>he finally understands I am not willing to participate in his drunken escapades. 'Oh I'm sorry, I own this house, I didn't mean to offend you.' he is being genuine though I do not see how those two things are related
>does not bother me again
>his son comes and apologizes profusely
>weird night

Been a lone lolita for going on three years, never had anything like that happen to me. Was strange.

>One of the sweetest-looking, best dressed girls in the group: "Did someone pay YOU to wear stretch pants?"
>Woman looks awkward, starts to move past us.
>Same girl, loud enough for the whole store to hear "What a rude bitch!"

It was just hilarious because she was this sweet little thing in an adorable bonnet, and she totally shut that mean lady down. I usually just kind of step aside and hope people will leave me alone, but it's always awesome to have someone in the group not afraid to stand up to people like that.

For the record, we all looked cute as fuck.

There are a group of men at the college I attend that harass every Lolita here, and there are about four of us. We don't travel together around campus, but we all avoid certain areas of the school because they always hoot and holler at us.

I've had people scream 'whore' out the side of their car when I'm in a full coordinate with tights and a long-sleeve blouse.

My favorite though is the teacher who insisted I not wear my 'fetishistic' clothes to class (college-maths) and when I tried to explain myself he said he would have to report me to school security. The security officer was actually a friend of a friend who laughed at the teacher for being stupid, but I still had to drop out because he was harassing me so much. (Ie: Telling students I did sexual things in the dress, asking if I were gay, trying to get me to speak allowed in front of the class to 'explain' my clothing choices.) Yes, I reported all this behavior. He ended up leaving at the end of the year anyway. Probably the worst semester of my entire life.

My fave response is always to whip out my own phone and start taking pictures. I've done this twice now.

The first time, the person evidently realised the point I was trying to make (i.e. taking pics of strangers without asking is weird), and started laughing, before apologising for being a tool and asking if he could have an actual posed picture. We had a bit of banter about the situation afterwards and I like to think he went on to be more courteous in future.

The second one was on a train. This person clearly didn't get what I was getting at, because when I started copying them surreptitiously trying to get photos, they looked at me as if I was the only weirdo taking unwarranted pictures and moved seats.

I'm totally fine with photographs, as long as they ask.

It's rude and really weird to take photos of random strangers. Lolitas are still people who deserve basic, polite treatment. Wearing something outlandish does not automatically make you fair game for harassment. Sure, I totally understand the staring and people asking questions, but there's absolutely zero need for people to be nasty or rude about it. So I'll stand my ground and confront them if they are.

Posed pictures look way better than a shitty blurry shot of us walking and looking the wrong way anyway.

He probably thought you're younger.

You were wearing something that looks like it's meant for little girls.

All of this seems pretty normal. I'm assuming most the women here are younger. 18-30.

Men that age make fun of everyone and everything, especially their own friends and women in their age group. So walking around in Lolita you should expect them to say things, and if they know they're getting under your skin they're definitely going to keep doing it because young men are pricks like that and they'll think its funny. Most of them are also too stupidly callous to know they're actually hurting your feelings. Some of the biggest pricks are nice people once they realize they're actually causing you emotional distress.

I usually work at a restaurant but that is only enough for bills and food so I do part time work with my dad to pay for Lolita items. It's general labor but get $500 in 3 days so it's worth it. Only down side is that I work with 50 guys (usually Hispanic) that act like they've never seen a girl before. We get grouped up with people and my favorite guy to work with was this guy in his 50s, has a speech impediment from a car accident (some assholes think he is just slow and retarded), 6'3, ~300lbs, and always talking about his little boy who is 7 years old. My friend and I decided to go out in the town one night in early October, and although I was in gothic and she was in classic, I was a little surprised that we did get a "It's not Halloween" comment from a few. At the same time, I wasn't too surprised because we were around a lot of drunk folks. At least there were people who liked what we wore and they were fine with our reason for wearing - it's just for fun. Lots of girls were wearing clubbing gear, so it didn't feel too different. The only thing I hated was when some people wanted to take photos, some people got too close for comfort.

Like, they thought they were whispering but they were so naturally loud most people in the hallway could hear them.

I literally don't know what even intrigued them. I'd just come off of 12 years of Catholic school and my girlfriend came from a super conservative family, so at most we gingerly hugged or touched hands in public. I wouldn't even say either of us were particularly attractive.

People like you are why I made myself a cute arsenal.
Cute cat keychain/knuckles, pink pocketknife, pepper spray in a cute holster I made myself [it's black with frilly stuff].

People sometimes follow me on the street or from the bus. Like, a lot. Even when I'm not in lolita.
I'm also really small, under 5 foot, and I get comments from guys sometimes about how they could pick me up and 'do anything they wanted with me.'

All women should carry at least pepper spray, just because rapists are out there.

If you followed me down the street with a camera, I'd break it. If you got mad and attacked me, you'd be answering to Krav Maga, bro.

This one time I was on the bus and this guy kept getting closer and closer to me and trying to touch me and NO ONE HELPED ME. I pushed him away and managed to get him out of my seat, but no one helped me.
When he got off the bus some lady asked me if I was okay, but the bus was full of people and none of them helped me when this guy was trying to touch me.
I considered stabbing him, but guess who would get in trouble? Me, not the guy trying to assault me on a bus full of people.

Using swear words period. Kids hardly know if they're being edgy or not. I can attest because my dad kept swearing a lot and it took a ton of energy for my parents to undo what my dad idiotically did.

It's more a reflection on the parents and their willpower not to swear at every broken wire in the house. It's also just not nice to have a five year old saying "fuck" at their teddy bear.

>> No.7254725

>>7254715
Dude a five year old is gonna be thrilled he/she learnt a new word and use it everywhere, they're not doing it 'to be edgy'. That's the problem, they don't KNOW the word is inappropriate. But that's why good parents don't shelter their child and instead sit them down and explain that okay, sweetie, there's some words that are never good to use in public or people will get really mad.
As an example, my parents never hid it from me and just told me I am only allowed to say it when there's nobody around.
I don't get why that's so hard instead of policing people to pick their words apart. If someone was raised in a Chattanooga trailer park they're not going to be able to do much about their vocabulary.

>> No.7254739

>>7254725
If course you can teach your kids that it's not appropriate to swear. But you still shouldn't have to be subjected to the constant overuse of the word fuck while, say, waiting in line at the grocery store. But street rapes are very uncommon. You'd actually be more at risk of being mugged if you were a dude then raped (or had any type of violence perpetrated against you) as a woman.

No reason not to keep your hand on your pepper spray if you're uncomfortable though.

That whole cursing in front of kids thing, is COMPLETELY conjecture. Wasn't in their story, you have 0 way to know that was true some other anons just said "MAYBE there were kids near"
As for the rest? If we're only going by what the story is telling saying, she cursed TWICE (and not two separate occasion, but in quick succession) and got snapped at by an old person.
You guys need to get some perspective. People curse, sometimes they do it in public. Sometimes, they even try to be polite and not, but slip up. Does it mean you can talk down to them for doing so? There are plenty of ways to ask someone politely to not curse around you if you have THAT big of a problem with it.

Yeah, don't stab over that. But that doesn't meant it wasn't really fucking inappropriate. Saying "He was only trying to FUCKING TOUCH YOU" makes it seem like yeah, totally, that was a perfectly okay thing to do. It wasn't, no matter how she was dressed.

Pull away and make a big deal, though. In a public place, it would shame him into learning some manners. If there were people around and you loudly stated "Why are you touching me?" or "Please don't grab me, I don't know you!"

Even if no one actually did anything, he would probably back down. I'm sorry the people around you didn't help, but that's just the bystander affect. People don't want to get involved if they aren't 100% sure that 1) There's actually a problem and 2) No one else is going to help. If you don't actively speak up, then they won't know that you aren't playing some sort of game or that he was your father or some stupid crap like that. The human capacity to make up excuses to not do what is right is endless.

For the record by the way, you can get cute pink pepper spray on Amazon, it was shipped to me no problem, it was under 10 bucks (at the time I bought it, it was 7) and it works very well even now, almost three years later. I check it about once or twice a month to make sure it still works.

My worst experience was actually pretty weak. I and several friends were riding a bus to go to a winter IRD meetup, and a teenage girl called ?Happy Halloween" just when she getting off the bus. It was a minor irritant at the time, but looking back I realized the girl's bus stop was near a Section 8 housing area known for high poverty and crime rates. I'm making light of calling someone just trying to fucking touch you "sexual assault" and thinking it's okay to stab someone over that.

Touch is her word, not mine. She didn't say grope, fondle, diddle or suggest anything sexual at all. Just fucking poking someone or stroking their dress or whatever is unacceptable behavior but it's not fucking sexual assault.

And even if it was, potential murder is 100% no way an okay response at that point. You can scare him off with a knife, sure, but just outright stabbing is psychotic, and if she had been arrested for it it would have been entirely the right choice.

Pepper spray can spray back at my face if there's wind. Tasers are shooting weapons and if I shoot them out at somebody on top of me and miss the taser bits can hit me on accident. If you tase someone with a weak heart you can kill them, knifing somebody's hand is actually safer for them. Also, tasers only incapacitate temporarily, often the effects can last for less than a minute. A knife wound is going to incapacitate for longer. There's also stun guns, but
>A stun gun is a handheld device that requires the user to directly press it’s electrodes to an attacker. It will cause pain & an attacker might be repelled by the pain but will not be incapacitated by its effects. In fact, the effects will cease once the contact is no longer made by the electrodes.

If the psycho keeps it up even after you've maced, tased, whatever, I wouldn't put it past them to be up for murder at that point, and that's when deadly force is okay. Actually being able to attack FROM a distance (ie pepper spray, un umbrella) is statistically a fuck of a lot more effective against an attacker. If you have a chance to knife them, then they are close enough to grab you.

Experienced rapist know this. Not that it really matters much because attackers from the shadows are not nearly as likely as someone you trust, but the danger of someone who has planned to go out and rape a stranger is significantly lowered if they have a weapon they can use from a safe distance.

Sorry, I don't like people spreading false information when it deals with other peoples safety. Even if it did work for you once, it doesn't mean it's a good idea to tell everyone here that a knife is an effective tool against random attackers because it's really, really not.

I always thought it was crazy Muricans.
Where I live, you get pickpocketed every week and crime rates are high, plus we have some sorta-Nazis running around a lot, and honestly rape cases anywhere are still incredibly rare. To me it sounds unlikely that a country with a better economy and lower crime rate has these problems ERRY DAY and that a woman can't go by herself anywhere at night. Fuck, I can wear a big red bullseye over my asshole and walk around Thessaloniki at night and I'd be fine.

It just looks like paranoia and attention whoring, plus don't any of them own keys instead of wasting money on that kitty knuckle tacky bullcrap? I highly doubt women get raped "like all the time" there. It's like being scared of getting on a plane because it might crash.

What would you do if you lived in India? Wear a chastity belt? Oh wait no, you wouldn't because everyone else needs to 'learn not to rape you' instead of you covering your ass.

Not the worst experience I've had, but a recent one that I don't know how to judge, so help me out, seagulls:

>wearing lolita for a presentation on jfashion in my Japanese class
>class before mine comes out, everyone is kind of looking at me
>one girl points at me and says, "I dig your wears, but I don't wear that in public."

I know this girl is not part of our local comm, and the way she said it kind of made me feel weird. I'm not sure if she was saying she wouldn't wear lolita/jfashion to school/"in public" or treating it like a fetish, something to be kept private.

Rape is incredibly common where I live. Multiple friends of mine have been raped, and one was raped when she went out by herself at night. I've personally had people sexually harass me when I've gone out to the gas station at night as well, including one incident where a guy was insisting he would pay me to have sex and not letting up about it despite me saying that I'm not a prostitute and I wasn't interested until I pulled my switchblade out. Here's some crime stats for the city I live in.

My bf insists on me carrying pepper spray because I work outside of a busy mall in a city. Its attached to my Super Dollfie lanyard, heh. I might carry a gun as well when I eventually get a conceal-carry license but thats more because he owns a gun store and its better if we're both certified and whatnot. I've been through threat training though so I'm not gonna jump the gun so to speak, where quoted anon sounds a bit too quick with her weapons.

The only time I've ever had to consider using my spray is two weeks ago when I was waiting to be picked up after work (I wear cutesy almost-lolita stuff sometimes cus my old-lady clients love it) and a guy was tailing me to the parking lot and hovering like ten feet away just around a corner. I could see his reflection in a window and he kept watching me and trying to edge around whenever there wasn't people around, which was kind of setting off alarm bells. I just kind of quietly but obviously pulled out my phone and flipped the pepper spray out so it was dangling outside my bag on its lanyard (defensive weapons are no good if you can't get to them immediately, so mine is attached to my purse strap and dangles around). I actually saw his reflection get up and leave pretty fast so I never had to use it or even threaten to.
