CD Japan says that the Innocent World mook weighs over 1kg which sounds ludicrous and are trying to charge 2720 yen for shipping to Austraia by airmail. For anyone that owns it, does it really weigh that much?

I opted for Kinokuniya as it was cheaper. I had to sign up and make an account to order it. I had to enter my bank card details which I hate doing but did so anyway. If I make an over dress with an open front and wear it over a chiffon underskirt, is it going to look like I'm wearing a bustle dress back-to-front? The fact that I can't find an example of an existing dress like this makes me think it might be a bad idea. This is the best example of the kind of thing I mean, but mine would be separates and wouldn't have that lace-up bodice thing.

I feel like I have a lot of trouble justifying blouse purchases. The problem is that I don't even own any blouses - I usually go for OPs for the reason of not needing a blouse because I have so much trouble finding them though I do own some skirts.

I've looked at Bodyline, F+F, all the "popular" taobao shops... I don't know what to do! I'm afraid of the blouses not fitting as I'm petite (4'11") but I have a bust (36") so I'm afraid of having "the gap" that usually occurs when I try on button-ups from the mall.

Should I just bite the bullet and buy something from Bodyline to test the waters?

>> No.7233980

>>7233976
Maybe get a blouse with shirring?

>> No.7233992

>>7233980
I've seen some on Bodyline that have shirring, though I'm curious if it would be wise to avoid tops that have shirring all the way around than just at the back? I feel like having it all around would give you a strange boob loaf.

(Forgot to mention I'm a lolita babby so sorry if these are silly questions!)

>> No.7233999

>>7233992
Not sure how comfortable you are with taobao, but I'm 5'1" and 38in bust, and their largest size blouse here fits me like a dream. The only time it gaps is when I wear a highly padded bra, and even then just slightly. http://cmloli.taobao.com/

>> No.7234047

>>7233976
Petite shouldnt be an issue in blouses, even if you have a short torso, it is more of an issue with skirts.

Generally if you are getting the gap in your bust it means that you need to go a size up. The great thing about lolita clothes is because of shirring and corset lacing, it is easy to adjust the shirt to fit and so a size up isnt going to give you trouble with fit elsewhere.

>> No.7234065

>>7233999
I've done a few taobao orders before so I'm pretty comfortable with ordering from there! Unless I'm mistaken, some of their images are stolen and it was recommended to stay away from there? If you don't mind my asking, what was the quality of the blouse you bought?
I think I'm confusing Dream of Lolita, Boguta, and CMloli with each other lol.

>>7234047
You're totally right! I guess some of the items I look at don't have either of those so I'm a bit discouraged. I mention the petite thing because I would like to own some long sleeve blouses and the sleeves are always too long... but then again, that's a simple alteration.

>> No.7234075

>>7234065

So the three stores in a nutshell. DoL is known for making terrible replicas of brand, and I'm not quite sure if you should trust them for anything. Boguta has ita stuff and their things are weirdly sized and don't fit, but apparently has good coats. CMloli also has ita stuff, but everyone praises their blouses, including their custom sizing. I just wish CMloli has some more classic options instead of the OTT frilly stuff. Hope that clears it up!

>> No.7234098

Bit of a pet peeve... those Hell Bunny dresses aren't lolita, I wish people would stop selling them on the Lolita sales.
Or, if you're going to anyway, at least take a nice photo proving me wrong and using it in a nice co-ord or SOMETHING.

>> No.7234106

I bought four blouses from them, two long sleeve in black and white, and two short sleeve in black and white. I did a review in a taobao thread a while back but let me see if I can find the pictures I took.:
http://imgur.com/a/qIR7P
Disclaimer: I've never owned brand blouses.

The material is not overly stiff or see-through, and the construction is solid. Lace is soft too, that's a major problem I have with bodyline blouses - itchy lace. I got them for cheaper than 69th Dept so I didn't expect them to be amazing, but I actually really like them.

I personally wouldn't buy any of their dresses as they're ugly as shit, but they know what they're doing with blouses.

THIS.

I own a few hellbunny dresses and do wear them, usually with pettis, but I don't call that lolita by any means, it's more retro or rockabilly or whatever.

I really want to buy a holiday themed dress for Christmas, but I am having trouble figuring out what to get since I'd only be wearing it once a year. I'm wondering if I should just get something plain and coord it in a holiday way. >want to get the items as some of the shops dont sell them no more

lol, bless this girl's naivety and selflessness. This is how those stories of people losing hundreds of dollars to scammers come about. Even if Dolly aint a scammer, there's no guarantee of her coming back.

Ita hugbox city being "mentored" by a bunch of sandy cunts.

I "applied" to be a fashion mentor. I make decent to good coords, at that time I'd been actively in the fashion for around a year. The chick who refused my application rudely replied to me, saying I wasn't "experienced enough," and as an example, said that someone once told her all the details of the Hyper Japan "incident" with Btssb's booth. Are you fucking kidding me? Do I need a degree from Mana-sama to be one of their precious elite "mentors"? She came off as completely mental.

Anyway, it's full of itas looking for reassurance and dumb questions asked 24/7 because none of the newbs want to google anything. Nobody improves from the mentors' advice and it's either all ass pats and hug boxes for ok-looking Bodyline-chans or refusal of any constructive criticism.

I've had the "it's a fashion - don't assume any sexual proclivities about the person wearing it" conversation in person with people at munches and things, but I'm not sure if I should make a tumblr post on the subject or just leave it be. I'm sort of scared of people finding my own nsfw tumblr and linking it to my lolita activity since not everyone in the community would be accepting, so I keep things very, very separate.

Eh? I have a NSFW blog and I reblog anything that strikes my fancy, including lolitas. My tumblr is attached to my real life self (I use the same name everywhere, I give out the URL to people when they ask if I have a tumblr and I post pictures of myself sometimes, plus I've linked it on my Facebook) and none of the lolitas/cosplayers I know seem to care.

Unless you have the first person's PayPal, it's not a done transaction. Tbh, I'd take the highest offer because my term is first to PayPal, first to get.

Well that's cool that you have an accepting community, but not all people are lucky enough to be in that situation and for some their private life is private. I wouldn't be super open about my kinks in public either because it's shit I do in the bedroom, not in front of the public eye - for me, that's between me and my partner rather than something everyone needs to know.

>>7242358
This is why I have terms and conditions.
My rule is first to paypal = first to dress unless I have stated in writing that I will hold it for them. Some people do first to interested = first to dress but usually abandon that policy because it's a pain waiting for someone to dither and you often lose the one person who is actually able to afford/willing to give you their paypal because they find something else they like for sale.

Nigga what are you on? We have better shipping rates than most other countries. It only cost me $16 to send a huge dress packaged in brown paper to the Netherlands recently. And shipping to England, France, Germany or other European countries with a lot of parcel flights from the US usually cost between $12-$14. Use first class.
I think the most I've paid was for express mail to Austalia. That girl wanted her shit quickly and it cost over $40. It was velveteen though, so not the lightest weight fabric.

OK. I looked for a vent thread but there isn't one and I need to get this out of my chest:

I've just been scammed for the third goddamn time this MONTH.

I don't know what's wrong with me? Maybe I'm too kind to people and they just assume I'm stupid? Fuck, mang. I'm so tired of having to contact the seller every goddamn week only to find out she's "too busy" or "I have already shipped it, I just didn't get a tracking number even though you specificaly requested one"!!! I personally would not go for any fixed size items unless it's something you really love, because most of them will be way too big. I am a similar size - 80-81cm bust, 65cm waist, 158cm tall, so these recommendations are based on things I've tried myself and either look okay in despite them being a bit large, or that actually fit well.

- IW will probably be fine as long as there's corset lacing and shirring - their standard size which is 85-98cm bust,
- VM and MM are generally too big. This is compounded by most of their items being fixed size or only having waist ties. The only MM items that I have personally tried and that fit me are Ekaterina OP and Rote Rose OP. Ekaterina had a bit of bulkiness when the corset lacing was tightened as there is no shirring, and Rote Rose was fine as the gathered bodice is quite forgiving. I did usually wear it with a push-up bra though and of course since your waist is smaller there will be more bulk when you do the waist ties up.
- AP, Baby, and Meta vary. Older is better, corset lacing is usually necessary. Meta doesn't always like to do corset lacing, but most of their dresses sit okay on me even though they're a little loose.
- Putumayo is generally too big, if you look at it on their model that's probably how it'll sit on you but looser in the waist.
- Emily Temple Cute is generally too large but their children's size 150-160 *might* be okay depending on the dress and cut. 160 is usually loose on me but 150 is slightly too short/tight.
- Atelier Boz coats are amazing and Roland will fit you.
- Atelier Pierrot with back shirring/lacing will fit you. Do NOT buy one of the strapless corset dresses unless you want to tape it to yourself to keep it up, it will be too big.
- Some millefleurs/noirs will fit
- JetJ is generally way too big.

Honestly though, taobao brands in a size S are a much better bet than most Japanese brands.

I have similar bust/waist measurements to you (78/60ish), although I'm taller (165cm), but here's my experience:
>corset lacing is your best friend for everything
>99% of the time, the skirt will fit better than the JSK or OP
>if you have very small shoulders (like me) avoid OPs and JSKs with high necklines - they'll gape in front because your shoulders won't pull the fabric tight enough
>you're better off sticking with custom-sized Taobao or offbrand blouses than bothering with brand

I`m sort of new to lolita.

What does everyone think of BL?
As far as I can tell, their reputation aren`t very good on /cgl/.
I went on their site for the first time today and there were some pretty horrendously ita dresses, but some of them look fine to me.

Is the quality low or something?

They're just babby's first "brand".

so... the hell is BL?

Should I avoid ordering from them or will I look okay as long as I don`t buy ita stuff?
The low prices makes me feel iffy.

If you can afford it I'd jump either straight into good quality Taobao/indie brands or brands. Second hand or new would be fine. If you are interested in new & brand items, buying a lucky/happy pack would be a great start as you often get a whole coordinate at a much reduced price. I'd definitely have a look anon.

I personally say skip their blouses, but some of their skirts and dresses are really quite good for what you pay, nothing really beats a brand new $20 skirt.

Agreed. Don't be afraid to buy BL, but definitely research the pieces you're interested in first, by looking for worn photos or reviews first. Their skirts, dresses and shoes are staple wardrobe filler for many. And I also say skip the blouses, I personally have always found them a bit itchy and uncomfortable.
