What this thread sounds like to me is, "I am making this costume and need affirmation that my view of the wig is correct. I want to feel like I am better than the other Elsa cosplayers even though I haven't actually started my costume yet."
If you want to actually help the community, OP, make a tutorial on the wig once you finish it. That way, people will have a good idea of "how to get the hair right."

This is one of those costumes that shouldn't be rushed, since her dress isn't even real fabric. Every cosplay of her I've seen so far looks ridiculously cheap and tacky, not like a graceful empowered ice queen. Waiting to see what people make in the coming year!

I don't understand why there is such a big hate on for this movie. Personally I really enjoyed it. Also OP are you talking about the face character? Because I agree that it's a bit to much volume in the front for her wig. Although they always go over the top with their face characters. I wish more people who are cosplaying them would take the time to make the outfits nice and not just to be first. Especially with Elsas outfit because it's so detailed. I hope I can cosplay Elsa for next winter but I want to be working on the dress pretty much all throughout 2014 to get it really nice.

It's mostly because Disney already has a shitton of stories set in "white" cultures or with "white" characters, which is disproportionately high compared to the number of PoC features that they've created. Then there's the added shitstorm from the fact that Tiana spent most of the movie as a frog, not a black woman, that a movie set in Africa featured Lions instead of African people, and that Pocahontas was full of historical inaccuracies.

Not that it matters because let's be real, Disney is a company created by an antisemitic/racist dude and panders largely to an affluent caucasian demographic despite its universal appeal. That is because for the majority of US history, most of the population has been comprised of white people. In fact they still make up about 70% of the population today. So no, it's not that surprising that Disney caters most of its characters to be most personable to white people, the same way it's not surprising that Hollywood whitewashes movies. I get your view but disagree with it. I wish their target audience weren't "white people" or "white children". Children of every heritage in the US enjoy these films, and I think the US in general is the typical target area for sales. The US is not, however, so predominantly made up of white people anymore, and Disney could stand to show that in their films, as could everyone else. Good cinema is appreciated by people of every color; white people should learn to get used to seeing more non-whites on their screens.

Here's the problem with this argument:
As things stand now, people of all races will go to see Disney films featuring white heroines. However, some white parents would not allow their children to see a film featuring a heroine of color. If you don't think that's true, you don't know just how racist many Americans still are. And in terms of cold, hard cash, white people are still top dog.

I don't think that's the issue though? Disney's princesses are mostly from Hans Christian Andersen and Grimm Brother fairytales, both of which are European and have strong European elements. I love how historical Frozen was with the Norwegian singing and motifs worked into the character design. Mulan was an adaptation of a Chinese folk tale (not even a fairy tale), The Lion King was a rip-off of a Tezuka anime (and Lions are found in Africa). There just isn't much source material out there to adapt into diverse movies that would branch into their toy and princess franchises. The Princess and The Frog was really badly received, mostly /because/ it was modernized to fit a black princess. There just aren't any black/hispanic princesses running around in middle ages Europe, and until African folk tales become bed-time reads for children in 120 languages, Disney just isn't going to profit off that. Diversity for diversity's sake isn't good, and nobody will like a Disney's Hansel and Gretel in 1800's Europe which features a completely hispanic/asian/black cast for no goddamned reason. Look at Wreck-it-Ralph, it's not like they whitewashed the diverse video-game characters, and it's not like those characters were originally created without reference to their origin culture/country.

Also Tangled began pre-production in 2000 and fucking 5. They could be working on stuff that won't get released for 10 years, or maybe shelved for another 20 before it's deemed kosher by the suits to be released.

Uh, Vanellope and Ralph aren't specified to be of /any/ race. There was some tumblr pic floating around of some minor Japanese idol who looked exactly like Vanellope's CG, and don't try to use their names as reasoning either. They're cartoon characters, viewers tend to empathize with them so you see them as your own race. Turbo was fucking grey. I watched the whole movie thinking Vanellope was Asian.

see, this is always my first thought when people launch into a dissertation long breakdown of why an animated movie is awful because omg-no-brown-people. you're literally getting violently up in arms about a kid's movie that's a gutted watered down fairy-tale featuring fictional characters. if you have the time to be frustrated about a movie for two weeks, then you have time to do something productive with all that energy.
