So my mom is helping me finance for some new glasses since I've been wearing my old ones for 9+ years.
I'd really like to get some glasses which would suit lolita.

Can we get a lolitas with glasses thread going for ideas and general cuteness?

Do you also use contacts? If not you should go with something more subdued so it will match lots of things.
Also, classic, sweet, or gothic?

I never really got the whole furor about glasses in lolita, to be honest. I've worn glasses my whole life and hate how I look without them, so I keep them on lolita and I'm pretty sure I look fine. As long as the glasses suit you, I don't see why they should look so awful in lolita. Of course, I guess a lot of people seem to choose glasses that don't flatter their faces at all.
Question, though: I was thinking about buying plano circle lenses and wearing them with my glasses. Is that a stupid idea?

But I get magic lenses from a local shop (they're thicker and harder so they actually go in easier and stick to my eyes better, though they dry out fast so I have to rehydrate them a LOT) or from pinkyparadise (which are softer and curve to my eyes easier). I have a smaller pair of kara lenses that fit well, too, but I've only worn them a few times.

>>7225217
I don't think it'd be too bad if you don't wear them every day. Maybe for a meet, no longer than 10 hours tops throughout the day, take them out and let your eyes relax for a few minutes before looking at shit again. But it also might depend on how young you are and if your eyes are still developing too. My vision changed rapidly until college.

When I take my contacts out, I'll take my glasses off and just keep my eyes closed for 3 minutes, then put my glasses back on and things go back to normal. Sometimes eyes just need to recharge.

Shame on you, anon.
rounded glasses are kawaii as fuck.
(not to mention the really rounded wire ones have been around for a damn long time.)
Maybe with gothic, rectangle frames are ok. Lots of geometric shapes there. like Moitie.
But with all the organic shapes in classic rectangle frames would just look awful. Take MM for example. The wavy frills and rounded patterns run the risk of battling with the office-like aesthetic effect of the squared-off lenses were the two to be paired.
Pic related might be a good alternative to either extreme. The round bottoms to keep them from looking too geometric and the top shape to keep it from looking too Harry Potterish if that isn't what you like.
Just my two cents.

Have you looked at glasses direct? They're about £70 a pair but always 2 for 1 and you can order them to try on (obviously without prescription) before you buy. I get cheap ones from specsavers as well.

Classic Loli here, just ordered these. I know Zennioptical has some nice loliable glasses for classic/gothic/aristocrat atleast. There's a few that are okay for sweet as well.

Are you kidding me! I've got a difficult prescription so that adds to the cost of mine, but 30?
I have hipster glasses currently and they were the cheapest pair I've had in ages, even they were 400 euros... My previous pair was rimless and cost 800.
Fucking health insurance not paying for glasses anymore.

My parents have really shitty eyes so they have to pay about $600 for their prescriptions, but mine are about $200.

Most importantly, get glasses that suit your face. Hipster glasses just work really well for me because I've got quite a square/wide jaw. The small round glasses make me look like a complete derp, but they work well with classic lolita.
Get something that makes you think, "hell yeah that works" if you look in the mirror. You'll regret getting glasses that suit your wardrobe but not your face.

German (and maybe scandinavian) anons, check out cheap optical stores like Smarteyes, or eyes + more. Any store with a fixed price like all glasses + lenses for 99€

Do not let the staff persuade you into buying more than one pair of glasses.

Do NOT buy from Apollo or Fielmann or any really big chain without fixed prices. Their staff is psychologically trained and WILL screw you over. You'll end up leaving with 500€ glasses that look like your grandmother's
This may seem cruel but never ever buy from a family business/a small store thats not part of a chain, they sell the same stuff like everyone else but 300% pricier.

sauce: I worked for all of them (and they all suck. eyes + more is cheap though and has nice frames).

>> No.7227598

>>7226421
Apollo & Fielmann are like that? I was planning to just get the cheapest, shittiest 15€ lenses and some shitty Nulltarif wire frames. What sort of psychological warfare should I prepare for?

also, instrumentarium will try to sell you insurance for your glasses. Do not get it. Not only will you never need it, but they do free repairs and the lens is rarely damaged.

>> No.7227603

this so much. Do not leave the damn store until you find frames that fit you or you will hate yourself for the rest of your life.

I buy insurance on all of my glasses, because they usually end up scratched before my two years is up on my insurance for a new pair.

However, I guess it depends on how much the insurance costs vs the cost of new lenses.

>> No.7235827

The only glasses typically covered by insurance (and that's if you have good insurance) are almost always exceptionally ugly. Decent frames will usually cost at least $150-200, but it's not unheard of for them to cost far more. And that's without prescription or scratch protection etc.

The closest I've found to an under rim with no strength is in a circular style.
