Touhou and Homestuck just seem like the fandoms that probably have such breathtaking fan art because there isnt much in the way of the canon designs. Which I am so okay with because this stuff is awesome

Well, Touhou designs have some substance, it's mostly just ZUN not knowing how to draw and his art skills never really getting any better.

Homestuck is just really simple with it's costumes, but people come along and make this weird AU outfits that are really over the top for no reason. That one up there isn't bad, but most of the ones that get popular are really shitty design wise and just look so terrible when people try to make them.

I think homestuck and touhou have the same perk as when you read a book: you're given just enough visual information for the basics, and then your brain fills in the rest of the details.

Then you get someone who's REALLY good at filling out the details and WHAM, wonderful fan art. (and I'm not that big into either of them!)

I'm actually working on the La Noir (largest one on there) Now. I couldn't find the fabric I wanted for the underskirt so I'm stuck quilting fabric to do it. I's a pain in the ass.
