I don't think this is going to kill cosplay but it very well might split it.
On one side you would have kids and those who are unable to grow up cosplaying the aspie anime of the month, the latest popular tumbl fad and whatever Internet shat out that month with the usual smattering of weebs, hambeasts and other assorted crazies.
On the other side you would have people who like to look at tits squeezed in some sort of fetish wear (which probably includes 90% of images concerning comics and games) which includes neckbeards, bros and other fuck-ups.
All in all, the only way to win this thing is not to play at all.

Without Looks, most talent goes unnoticed, much less supported without a good reason. Being attractive is a skill in itself, and a tough one at that since we nit pick everything. But I can't compare someone like Vampy to a hardworking waitress, or businessman. Different skills for different jobs. Unfortunately cosplay is a highly visual hobby, so yeah Looks are important, but I do agree there needs to be effort in the costume too otherwise it looks too fake. Which I find ironic since we've all had to start at the bottom before we learned any 'skills'. Either way I don't cosplay so this isn't my problem. It only seems to come up when another cosplayer is jealous of the attention, or a neckbeard is being ignored. Both of which are just as much of a problem as the vapid shit they preach.

Did some light googling about Vampy. Didn't find any pics of her as a car show model and no clothing line under her name. She seems to be your average Model Mayhem bunny with what I came to recognize as a standard career path for girls like her - after trying her hand at professional modeling (in all it's forms, including some artistic nudes) and failing to be recognized she turned to cosplaying as kind of a last resort before fading into obscurity.

meh, met her at a con a year ago where I was cosplaying as Mega Man.

Dry personality, was trying to force her bullshit over priced clothing line,posters and such onto me. Tried having a legit conversation with her, lost interest when she saw I wasn't buying anything.

Pikmin Link on the other hand is hands down one of the nicer cosplayers you can meet....granted, I still get confused when women cosplay as men....I just can't wrap my head around it haha.
