Those of you that like to buy things from cosplayers (or anything else at cons for that matter), do you have your autographs personalized (made out to you by name)? Or do you just want the person's signature on it?

All of the thing I have are personalized. I'm just curious if other people collect things like that and if they get them personalized.

Pic related. It's /cgl/'s favorite cosplayer. huehuehue

I like to get mine personalised. I don't know why, it just feels nicer. My JNig posters are mostly personalised and I got one for my friend for his birthday and she wrote "happy birthday" and his name. He was really happy with that!

>> No.7219186

I have several signed/personalized prints a certain cosplayer has sent me over the years, but I've never paid for any of it. I received a lot of it because I wrote her a while back praising her and we've kept up a bit since then, though I also think it might be because she just wants me to buy more stuff from her store.

I'd rather get my stuff signed generally. But whenever I buy stuff from someone's booth, they always sign it to me before I can think to say "hey can you just sign it normally."

All of the 'personalized' stuff is silly, I think, because it's not actually personal unless it's a situation like this >>7219186

Because half of /cgl/ is between the ages of 16-20, a good majority of people on here are just here for lolita and they have no idea about cosplay, or they just started cosplaying within the last two or three years, so they can relate to JNig. "She's just doing this for fun like I am! She's not some costume making elitist and she is still popular! Also she is super nice, and that is way more important than anything else when it comes to cosplay!"

When HoC was airing it seemed that a lot of the same people who like JNig hate Yaya, because they think Yaya makes everything about her tits. I will say this about Yaya though, at least she chooses already slutty costumes. That Snow White one she did was in fact based off a pre-existing design. Jessica just sluts things up for no goddamn reason.

JNig doesn't make her own shit, lies about implants, sells photographs without credit from photographers, and sluts up costumes needlessly for no reason. But people like her because she is nice and doesn't take cosplay seriously.

What's really sad is Jessica and what she does is becoming the norm when it comes to cosplay. A lot of people are following her example, and it's actually really sad.

I've been going to conventions since 2005, and it's just amazing how rapidly the whole scene has changed just within the past two or three years.

I feel like Robert Neville in I am Legend. Everything around me is changing and I'm just here being a salt wart telling kids to get off my lawn trying to stop the inevitable. It's all really fucking depressing the longer I think about it.

Good. "Nerd culture"/"convention culture" are so diluted and commodified at this point that wanting to participate in them is beyond idiotic. If you have a passion for serious costuming, take it another place. Move on with your life and take your passions and skills to a place not occupied by under-age consumer whores. Our "super secret club" is dead and I thing it was well over-do. Jessica is a business woman who saw an opportunity and created a persona in a "niche market." People silly enough to buy into it or, on the other end of the spectrum, be offended by it are hilariously out of touch.

I agreed with most of your post but at the same time I have to disagree about Yaya not spitting things up. Firstly, just look at the original costumes she designed herself. I'm talking about her steampunk costume (green dress) and her space girl costume (that silver one with pink trim). Those are also boon heavy. She did photoshoots where she's wearing nothing but pasties. She also picks revealing costumes. With Snow White, instead of doing any number of her ball gowns or dresses, she goes with the one that looks like a Legs Avenue costume. At least Jessica openly acknowledges she likes to show her boobs. Yaya thinks she's above people who slut up costumes but she's really not much better.

>> No.7220847

The only difference between Yaya and Jnigs is that Yaya gives a fuck. And when you are famous for dressing up like a naked cat girl, giving a fuck makes you a fucking joke.

It's the same reason some girls dress way up when going to bars. You'll see a girl with an expensive black dress on, perfectly fixed hair, hours of make up, tons of jewelry, perfume, and the likes... Just to go to some shitty low class bar on a dead night. Attention is craved.

Remember when cosplay was about meeting people who liked the same shit as you at anime conventions because back in the day anime used to be a kind of obscure thing?

Nobody remembers this?

Cosplay was a good way to meet other fans back in the day when chatrooms were always interrupted by somebody picking up the phone. You would dress up like your favorite character, and that would paint a big target on you that said "Hey I like this thing! You can tell that I like this thing because I spent money and time dressing up like this thing! Interact with me!"

But now apparently fucktards have it in their head that it is only for attention whoring.

To be fair, /fit/ is based on a completely different subculture. The fitness community is much bigger and way less niche than the cosplay community. Since it's a bigger subculture, their standards are higher.

Girls who are successful in that community as fitness models (the equivalent of what JNig does as a cosplay model) are far more attractive facially than JNig.

They also have to have much better and more fit bodies than JNig. It is based on fitness afterall. All JNig has is implants, she wouldn't be able to compete against girls who have implants but also lift 5 days a week.

Case in point, a successful fitness model who does the same blonde w/ implants "look" as JNig does:
