How important is it for someone cosplaying a character to have a good body matching said character? I'm asking this mainly in regards to male cosplayers cosplaying tall/muscular characters. Is it better to be fucking yoked and have an okay costume, or be in okay shape and have a spectacular costume? Also, post muscular cosplayers please.

Physique is as important for men as it is for women. Meaning, it's very fucking imporant.

Height can't be helped and because of that it's a little forgivable if your physique and costume are on point but it still hampers the cosplay generally if you want it to be as accurate as possible. A bit of creativity can counter balance the lack of height though depending.

Whether you HAVE to be ripped, athletic, or can get away with just being slender is dependent on who you're cosplaying.

>> No.7213079

The same rules apply for men and women. Cosplay is done best when you can match the bodytype of whoever it is you're cosplaying.

Dropping into to say that bulking doesn't work for everyone.

I was doing a diet plan where I was taking in close to 5,000 calories and 130g of protein a day, gyming for up to two hours a day depending on group and didn't get shit.

It took me six months to gain three lbs.

Looked the nicest I looked in a long time though.

Answer this, I know that sounds sarcastic but it's not.

In boot camp I jumped from 98lbs to 106 in three months.

PT didn't happen a lot (Navy) and if it did, it was real basic shit.

Meals were regular meals, only difference was I had a peanut butter sandwich at every lunch and dinner.

How did I gain weight from that but not from planned systems?

>> No.7215332

>>7215324
>PT didn't happen a lot
there you go

if you eat a certain number of calories relative to your height without using those calories for energy, then they will be stored as fat.

130lbs is really low, so I'm guessing you aren't very tall so it should be easy for you to gain weight with regular meals and no physical exercise as opposed to people that are like 5'10" or 6'+ who have to heat 2500+ just to maintain body weight.

You just didn't eat enough while bulking. Use myfitnesspal to track caloric intake and you'll see yourself gaining mass. A lot of people do miscount calories.

I don't gain weight.
Almost never have.
I know how more meals = less weight, less meals = more weight thing works, etc.
I know /fit/'s sticky and how it all works I just don't know what the hell I'M doing.

I eat maybe two small meals a day now during weekdays and eating schedule is sporadic on weekends but I'd still say I don't go over 3,000 calories a day (for the sake of numbers) and I've LOST weight.

We just did our PFA and I clocked in at 126. My highest weight has been 133. I usually fluctuate between 130-133.

Is it an age thing?

...honestly I don't even know why I currently care, I'm done with trying to bulk and am trying to focus more on cutting excess fat and toning up what I have and adding from there depending on end results.

you can't "tone" without eating otherwise your body will slowly eat your muscle. A common grievance among athletes/bodybuilders/strength trainers is that when you cut after bulking as you do, you lose mostly fat, but also some muscle and strength a long with it.

You're on the path to losing more muscle.

You simply do not eat enough. It may be that you do excessive cardio or swimming. It may be that you're on average overly active daily in doing things.

Winter is your chance to try bulking again because you'll be wearing heavy clothing until it's over.

Just gradually added more food and milk into my diet as I did weightlifting and in two years I went from 90lbs to 225lbs. Any time I stalled gaining weight, it wasn't because I reached my body's natural limit or because I'm magical, it was because I wasn't eating enough and fixing my diet allowed the mass gain to continue.

I would recommend rechecking your numbers to make sure you're getting it right, and if you're 100 percent sure you are right about your intake, you should probably go see a doctor because you likely have hyperthyroidism or something.

As someone else who lifts, if someone's body doesn't fit the cosplay, but they cosplay it anyway, it's up to them.
That said, if you have the body or not - that'll determine a lot of how much attention you gather, or how memorable your cosplay will actually be.

>>7215139
Friendly advice: Work on your shoulders.
It might not seem noticeable right now, but developed shoulders makes your upper body look larger - especially in fitted clothes.
Military press is good for this.

>>7215147
Usually I'd say height doesn't matter a ton if you're doing a solo cosplay - unless it's one extreme or the other. Usually, in pictures you can't really tell a huge difference.
In groups, that's a bit of another matter.

>>7215339
How accurately do you track calories, and how often?
It's possible that it could be a combination of a few things, but most people just ballpark how much they're eating, or only track a couple days a week.
From 180 to 190, I consistently put on about 0.2 lb a day, as long as I ate just enough.
Any less than that, and I could drop as much as 0.4 lb by the next morning.
Pretty much what >>7215549 said.
