OK so I wanted the Rouge Aerie NIghtmare Rising dress but didn't want anything to do with ODIP. Some kind seagulls pointed out that I could go directly to RAD instead, which I did. I placed my order for the dress and had a really nice, polite email conversation with one of the girls from RAD.

Then yesterday I get a to-the-point email from Marie at ODIP saying "your dress is shipped. Here's the tracking number."

WTF I know ODIP was involved with the release but I'm annoyed that by ordering a dress direct from an indie designer I have generated a reason for ODIP to continue existing.

I've been an AP sweet girl (~3 years) but I honestly fell out of it a few months ago. The only times I dressed up were for big meetups.

I've been eying a lot of BABY's dresses, like traumerei and searching for baroque, and my heart hasn't raced like this over any dress in a very long time.

I want to redo my entire wardrobe but I'm afraid of where to even start. The one thing I'm terrified of is selling my wardrobe and then regretting it. Should I slowly start collecting classic blouses, shoes, etc. and then by a main piece? Idk I just want to fall in love with the fashion again.

>>7193457
The tone of the email she sent really did nothing to change my opinion of her. It reinforced everything others had been saying about ODIP. Her customer service skills are non-existent and it really does put me off from buying from her.

I'm not asking her to abase her self to her customers, but a little "thanks for shopping with us and I hope you enjoy your dress, please don't hesitate to contact us if you have any queries" is pretty standard. (Even if you don't mean it Marie, you could at least pretend)

1. Lay dress flat, face down.
2. Fold in the sides of the skirt so the dress makes a rectangle shape.
3. Fold the hem of the dress to the waistband.
4. Fold this over the bodice.
5. Flip over and it should be a nice, compact square ready for shipping.

If I'm travelling, I fold it into a rectangle then roll it up. Less heavy folds/creases to shake out when I arrive.

I have to admit I giggled while picturing this in my mind.
I've been dating him for nearly 2 years and I love the guy, I wouldn't break up with him over that. Though he struggles to accept my lolita clothes. At first he would refuse to go out with me in public while wearing it, claiming I was 'peacocking' among other things. So. He's definitely gotten better on that.

>>7193667
But why should he have to concerned about my 'mega child-like sweet pieces'? Its just clothes after all. I enjoy wearing things that make me happy and I find cute. I realize it is a bit child like, but its what I like so who cares? I can think this clearly in my mind now but before I just felt blah. The same way as a sale would, but instead of paying with cash you send the other person a physical item.

Let's say you have a meta skirt, and a girl agrees to trade for a baby skirt. You give each other your addresses, and ship the item to your trade partner. It's usually a good idea to pay for tracking and to provide proof of shipping to the other person, just to provide that extra level of security.

There are risks involved with trading, as it involves trusting the other person to actually send the item out. Some counter this by paying each other a cash sum, and refund each other the money once the item has arrived. Some will have the person with less feedback ship first and provide proof before the other person ships after.

I usually can't wear a 10 band because it just rides up, even on the tightest setting - back when Elle Macpherson Intimates used to run smaller in the band I could *just* get away with it, but of course the bras weren't supportive at all. Bras n things has some stuff that I like, but the selection is limited - last time they had a sale I pretty much bought everything that fitted/looked good. Cotton On Body where I am carries 10-14 bands, A-D cup and that's it, Bendon never seems to have 8 bands in stock even in the Pleasure State range, and the 8Bs I can find online are pretty plain and not at all the look I'm going for. Member of the Michigan comm, home of the recent baby drama, here.

If anyone from our comm is around, can someone please tell me if the sticky that was recently posted about updating our rules was more directed to the one or two girls who posted "no babies" type comments on that thread or the fact that the momma apparently went bats on a few of our members via PM?

I only just now got around to reading all of the comments on BtB, and I'm really shocked that she angrily PM'd some people. The initial sticky kind of worried me, as I assumed it would be about not posting potentially offensive comments (which, 1) is subjective and 2) doesn't seem to be much of a problem in our comm), but now I'm wondering if it was referring to the nasty messages she sent.

Sorry for posting this all out here, I just prefer my anonymity.

>> No.7195420

I've stopped wearing lolita for quite a while now, as I feel like I've outgrown it. I'm still constantly saving pictures of beautiful coords and my dream dress is still out there, but I just feel like l can't pull it off anymore.

I want to move onto something that's still cute but a little more grown up, yet still in the j-fash spectrum. I love the idea of casual lolita (when it looks good and not lazy), but it's still a bit elusive for me. Gyaru is also cute, but it's a bit fake and OTT sometimes.

Any advice on where to proceed? ty!

Just go for casual lolita, it's what I did. Most of the time I don't even refer to what I'm wearing as 'lolita' but call it 'j-fashion inspired' instead. It means I can wear my stuff day to day in a more practical way.
I am holding onto a few of my dresses so I can get fully dressed up for important meets but other than that it makes life far more enjoyable when I can be a bit more flexible with the fashion.

Maybe Rouge Aerie thought that they'd need someone like ODIP behind them in order to handle the logistics of the Nightmare Rising release? ODIP is showing pics of their booths at all the cons prominently displaying the dress. It seems like Marie needs them, not the other way around.

I'd like Rouge Aerie to dump ODIP for any future releases, but maybe they feel they have to go that route in order to get to a wider audience and sell more. It's pretty shit that there isn't an alternative in Australia.

But still, WHY ISN'T THERE A FRIGGEN ROUGE AERIE TAG ON THE DRESS?

I sold a nice dress to a girl, then I looked at her facebook photos. Holy shit, she is the epitome of ita. Too short lace monster, underbust corset, lace monster full arm gloves, baggy ass lacy leg warmers, and to top it off, some shitty feathery fascinator.

Is there a way I can point her in the right direction? She seems really excited to have some legit lolita shit, and I don't want to see my lovely dress ruined by her ita ways.

Sweet lolita here. I want to start wearing gothic and would like some suggestions on what pieces to buy first!

What I THINK I can keep in my closet:
- BtSSB's Pocket Embroidery JSK in Black
- BtSSB's Miachel's Blessing JSK in Black
- AP's Holy Lantern JSK in Red
- AP Gloria Back Frill JSK in Wine
- BtSSB shoes (picture)
- Bodyline shoes (picture)
- VWxMelissa shoes (picture)
- Magic Tea Party blouse (picture, ill be removing the bows)

I know for sure I need new blouses but I don't really know where to start. Should I stay away from peter pan collars? Chiffon or cotton? Or should I invest in more boleros instead?

>> No.7195615

>>7195523
Peter pan collars can work, but I think in a more old-school gothic kind of way. If you're going for a more soft/casual look, boleros are good, but I think fitted jackets and blazers look a little more mature. Both chiffon and cotton are good, it just depends on what you like/the weather. If you don't already have high collar blouses, those are pretty much a staple in gothic. I think what really makes the look, though, are accessories (otherwise you just end up with dark classic, which I really love, but may not be what you want).

I'd avoid the JetJ, unless you can pull some kind of "I'm so much more Christian than thou, I'm wearing the best chapter of the bible on my dress" act. It's the one that seems to get Christians upset, and the imagery seems a bit gory for normalfags.

Holy Lantern kind of gives off a gothic vibe in all colourways, you might come across as a goth rather than offend a Christian (well, I guess being a goth might be offensive to a Christian...). I'm not sure if that's good or bad for your workplace.

Gloria has the two little cute cherubs, I think it almost looks like a Christmas greeting card by itself. I think it's the easiest to pass off as a seasonal Christmas dress. You only have to explain why it says "Angelic Pretty" instead of "Season's Greetings" on the banner.

Hey Myer-Peak-Trader Anon! As long as you are wearing block black & white management won't have a problem. We have had a problem with girls wearing micro mini skirts and leggings as pants, so lolita is probably a nicer alternative! There is a girl who wears Liz Lisa pieces to work as well.

I started by wearing little bits and pieces before busting out a full co-ord on them. If you are unsure and want to give it a try, take a pic of your outfit and show it to your line manager and ask if it would be OK for work.

Anyways, good luck with Christmas trade and I hope you get to work with fun, nice people! (I started as a peak trader 8 years ago, I remember the terror of walking through the doors very well!)

I wear a mid-size petti to work. I don't wear a full cupcake one, it's just too hard. One time I did wear a full petticoat and I kept knocking stuff off my desk.

I actually don't work on the selling floor anymore, I work in the General Office at my store. I do miss working on the floor, by the time the customers come up to us they are all pissed off and want to make a complaint about something.

I did start out in the Swimwear section and was in Miss Shop for a while before moving up to the office. Miss Shop and Tokito had some great poofy skirts and cute little cap sleeved dresses perfect for mori this time last year. It was great working there at sale time, when I was putting the clothes away I'd find some really cheap stuff during the sales.

jaded lolita here.

Does anyone else feel like they've gotten as far as they can with lolita? I used to go to herajika's flikr and marvel at all the wonderful things she has, and hope that one day my closet would be so grand. I'd also sift through January closet posts and bookmark the ones I thought were the most impressive. But now, I feel like I've "collected" all the dresses I wanted, and that my closet is on par. I guess a big part of why I thought lolita was fun was hunting down the dream items, besides wearing the fashion. I tend to get this way about dolls, books, movies, games, and such: I must collect all the ones that were on my "must have" list. I feel like I've reached that point now. I don't necessarily own all the rarest prints right now, but at one point or another I did and have sold them because I didn't like them as much as I thought I would.

Does anyone else feel this way? Now that I'm only on the lookout for new releases, I feel like lolita is moving so much slower... If I don't like one month's releases, I have to wait another month or more for the next. I don't feel as involved as I used to, but it's not because I don't like the fashion as much. There just aren't many more things for me to do to feel more involved.

I had to send the paypal money myself, it tells me to do so on the email. If I select "goods", BTSSB pays paypal fees, if I selected "friends and family" I pay the paypal fees. I just wondered if I selected "goods", BTSSB would blacklist me because they technically didn't receive all the money that I owed. Well it's too late anyway as I selected I was paying for goods. I don't see how the fact that this girl allegedly flipped out over something else makes her irritation in this situation any less justified. Rebecca is still an irresponsible seller with shitty communication and an attitude problem. In this situation the other girl did nothing wrong.

The fact is that "less than a [business] week" is more than a reasonable enough time to expect someone to have sent something out once the buyer has paid, and as an active seller taking days to respond to communication is ridiculous.

If the seller needs more time then THEY should initiate communication to let the buyer know that they're running behind on shipping, the buyer shouldn't have to hound the seller about when they'll be getting their item. Sellers often seem to forget that there is more to their end of the bargain than listing an item and getting the payment in their Paypal account. It's also their responsibility to get the item out in a timely manner.

I think if the seller has clearly stated that they ARE busy and can only make it to the post office one day a week, then flipping out is unreasonable. It looks like the seller promised to ship "as soon as payment cleared" in which case a buyer is allowed to be upset if they're waiting more than a day or two. I was going to say:

I don't see the buyer flipping out in the posted screencap. She only got testy after long periods of no communication, which I think anyone would in a similar scenario, especially since it sounds like buyer paid a pretty nice chunk of change for those shoes.

I get being busy and not being able to reply *right that second*, but it makes zero sense that the seller complains about Pengu messaging her during work hours. Why is she even on Facebook during work if she shouldn't be? She doesn't have to check Facebook from her phone. To me these complaints just make the seller seem defensive because she knows she has no excuse for having such poor communication. It doesn't take 6 days to figure out a response when the other party has asked you a straightforward question. Most people would be a little peeved at this point considering they already paid for the item over a week ago and it hasn't even been shipped yet.

IA with >>7203011 anon that it seems like some people here don't read the screencaps in their entirety, which is weird to me because surely we've all been buyers as well as sellers, and know that scams happen from BOTH ends. IA with >>7203011 anon that it seems like some people here don't read the screencaps in their entirety, which is weird to me because surely we've all been buyers as well as sellers, and know that scams happen from BOTH ends. If looking after her best interests is neurotic then I guess everyone is either neurotic or really susceptible to getting cheated out of their money. If I paid a lot of money for an item and the seller was flakey, didn't communicate, made empty promises and still hadn't sent out my item after two weeks, I'd fucking open a Paypal dispute too.

I don't know what your price range is, but some other good (but expensive) places to look would be American Duchess, Irrregular Choice, and John Fluevog.

Tokyo Bopper/Bellybutton has the closest thing to what you're looking for. Otherwise, you can go to an*tai*na on TaoBao and order a pair with customised soles.

Shinjuku is having an early reserve, other stores start the following week, it will come out in mid-Februrary. Because there's 3 months in between the reserve & release, it's highly likely that this particular release will be made-to-order

What's the opinion on corsets underneath lolita? I'm about to buy my first one (steelboned longline, from Orchard Corsets) to give my body more curve but I've also heard lolita is meant to flatter more rectangular shapes. I plan to wear it as an undergarment rather than outside JSKs and such.

>> No.7203439

>>7203431
Orchard Corsets are made of crap quality. Most corsets that are not custom made look terrible under clothing. Places like Timeless Trends, Orchard, other mass-produced China products are made to be seen over clothes rather than create a nice silhouette underneath them.

I have 2 custom corsets from local corsetmakers, and because they are made from historical patterns they are meant to look decent under clothes. If you cannot afford this option, I'd suggest just buying a waist cincher to wear under your lolita, NOT an overbust (especially a longline!) because they will most likely make you look tubular rather than curvy.

I've found that as a busty girl a corset really helps give me the tube bodice most brands are sewn for (think IW). In my case they help prevent major boob-loaf.

I'm thinking about starting up a lolita blog and was wondering what people liked to read most about?

A few things I'll probably blog about:
>I'm HUGE on dessert. I either bake once a week or go to a bakery downtown. I can post pictures of cute cakes, pastries, cookies, etc. and even recipes of my own
>I wear lolita once a week. Outfit shots will definitely be a majority of my posts
>Reviews. I buy a good number of brand and off-brand and can do comparisons (ie Angelic Pretty vs. Secret Shop tea parties)
>Shopping hauls! I buy something new all the time. I don't taobao much though, sorry!
>I play cute mmos (pokemon x/y, ragnarok online, animal crossing)
>DIY like hairpieces, accessories, etc.

>> No.7203533

>>7203516
Nix the mmo stuff. That has nothing to do with Lolita. If you insist on writing about it though, something cute I've seen others do is coords inspired by whatever it is they're playing/reading/seeing. I'd make it outfit, shopping, and DIY heavy if I were you. If you do hairstyles and sewing tutorials too, then your blog should be gold.

Thanks for the input! I'll ditch the MMOs but I do love the idea about inspired coords.

I can definitely do hair/makeup tutorials as well as some sewing tips for beginners. Another thing... youtube videos or photos for tutorials?

Personally I like when people do both. Like making a video for indepth inscructions and posting underneath highlights in pictures. Especially considering camera pictures are generally a much higher quality than a paused screen on youtube.

But it still doesn't excuse how the seller was acting with taking over a week to still not have shipped the item, no updates, not communicating with the buyer until asked, and then bitching about being contacted during work.
That whole contacting during work part was stupid. You know what I do if I get a text while at work, I fucking ignore it and reply when I'm able to. Apparently she's to stupid to know you don't have to answer someone right when they message you.

>>7203431
It depends on the corset and the dress, some are going to not really make a different with a corset on, others will suit it nicely.

I do suggest not a long lined one, because that is going to interfere with underthings. Petticoats and bloomers and stocking all have to fit somewhere and you will have to struggle with the what goes under it and what goes on top.

>>7203439
Overbusts do not make one look tubular if they are done right, that is a sign of a bad corset not a property of overbusts.

>> No.7203688

Thanks for the info. Then what websites are best recommended? I'm just starting so I don't want to dump a ton of money into it quite yet. I am only looking at underbust corsets right now.

>> No.7203808

>>7203683
Sorry, I should have specified: I didn't mean overbusts in general, I meant overbusts from a cheap place online will make you look tubular. Cinchers and underbust corsets from mass-producing online retailers still seem to produce some of an S shape, but I don't think I've ever seen a cheap overbust under clothes with a good result.

>>7203688
Back when Etsy was just getting started, a lot of premiere corsetmakers set up profiles there. One of my favorites is Jill Hoverman whose username is jillscorsets. She is great and will take your custom measurements, send you a mock-up to put on, and you can give her feedback (written or take pictures to send back) on if it should be altered before she makes the final product. I think her day job is at Romantasy corsets in San Francisco. She's probably the cheapest one off the top of my head, since you said you don't want to dump a lot of money. I could find some others for you but the ones I'm thinking of are in the $200+ range so that's probably more than you're looking to spend.

I've wasted money on a couple waist cinchers and some spanx and I look better with a mass-produced Timeless Trends underbust corset underneath my lolita than a mass-produced China product waist cincher.

YMMV though. I'm 115 lbs and 5'3" with C cups.

Not sure if you can help me but I'm looking for some kind of underclothing that will help me define my waist and I'm not sure what I should be looking for. My bust is 78cm, underbust 76cm, waist 68cm. I just hate how some of my skirts seem to make my torso look box-shaped (my flat chest doesn't help) and I'd like more of an upside down triangle shape towards the waistline.

Only reserved the Cinderella dress Baby recently released, but the start of the reservation for that started at the end of September (although the shop girl at Baby was nice and let me do it before reservations opened) and the dresses were released mid October.

I'm guessing this is going to be made to order, but I'll ask and find out tomorrow.
