OK so I wanted the Rouge Aerie NIghtmare Rising dress but didn't want anything to do with ODIP. Some kind seagulls pointed out that I could go directly to RAD instead, which I did. I placed my order for the dress and had a really nice, polite email conversation with one of the girls from RAD.

Then yesterday I get a to-the-point email from Marie at ODIP saying "your dress is shipped. Here's the tracking number."

WTF I know ODIP was involved with the release but I'm annoyed that by ordering a dress direct from an indie designer I have generated a reason for ODIP to continue existing.

I've been an AP sweet girl (~3 years) but I honestly fell out of it a few months ago. The only times I dressed up were for big meetups.

I've been eying a lot of BABY's dresses, like traumerei and searching for baroque, and my heart hasn't raced like this over any dress in a very long time.

I want to redo my entire wardrobe but I'm afraid of where to even start. The one thing I'm terrified of is selling my wardrobe and then regretting it. Should I slowly start collecting classic blouses, shoes, etc. and then by a main piece? Idk I just want to fall in love with the fashion again.

I won an auction on a skirt I've been longing for a while (not dream status but high up on my wishlist) and I was super excited. I showed my boyfriend a picture of it and he said it was something he'd get for a baby. I tried to just shrug it off but everytime I look at stuff to coord it with I just feel upset. 3. Fold the hem of the dress to the waistband.
4. Fold this over the bodice.
5. Flip over and it should be a nice, compact square ready for shipping.

If I'm travelling, I fold it into a rectangle then roll it up. Less heavy folds/creases to shake out when I arrive.

I have to admit I giggled while picturing this in my mind.
I've been dating him for nearly 2 years and I love the guy, I wouldn't break up with him over that. Though he struggles to accept my lolita clothes. At first he would refuse to go out with me in public while wearing it, claiming I was 'peacocking' among other things. So. He's definitely gotten better on that.

Cotton On Body where I am carries 10-14 bands, A-D cup and that's it, Bendon never seems to have 8 bands in stock even in the Pleasure State range, and the 8Bs I can find online are pretty plain and not at all the look I'm going for. I only just now got around to reading all of the comments on BtB, and I'm really shocked that she angrily PM'd some people. The initial sticky kind of worried me, as I assumed it would be about not posting potentially offensive comments (which, 1) is subjective and 2) doesn't seem to be much of a problem in our comm), but now I'm wondering if it was referring to the nasty messages she sent.

Just go for casual lolita, it's what I did. Most of the time I don't even refer to what I'm wearing as 'lolita' but call it 'j-fashion inspired' instead. It means I can wear my stuff day to day in a more practical way.
I am holding onto a few of my dresses so I can get fully dressed up for important meets but other than that it makes life far more enjoyable when I can be a bit more flexible with the fashion.

Peter pan collars can work, but I think in a more old-school gothic kind of way. If you're going for a more soft/casual look, boleros are good, but I think fitted jackets and blazers look a little more mature. Both chiffon and cotton are good, it just depends on what you like/the weather. If you don't already have high collar blouses, those are pretty much a staple in gothic. I think what really makes the look, though, are accessories (otherwise you just end up with dark classic, which I really love, but may not be what you want).

I have seen it in real life many times. The fabric looks sort of thin and seems to wrinkle easily. The lace is that awful, scratchy stuff Bodyline uses a lot. Plus, the details on the bodice look really off to me.

Qutieland is a taobao shopping service basically. Most of the brands on there actually aren't replicas. Dream of Lolita is, as well as most of the bags and shoes, but most of the dresses are Chinese indie brands with their own custom prints and styles. Was lurking lj and saw a mention that Lost in the Sea was getting a re-release in spring. Can anyone confirm this?
I hesitated preordering in September, but now that they've shipped, I really regret not getting it.

KL has said multiple times there will be a re-release with no order limit in the spring. They tend to run behind on things, though, so I'd say it might not happen until the summer. Or even later, since there are at least three releases before then.

Almost no one in the west have gotten theirs yet, you might be able to find one for sale once ther arrive.

I actually don't work on the selling floor anymore, I work in the General Office at my store. I do miss working on the floor, by the time the customers come up to us they are all pissed off and want to make a complaint about something.

I did start out in the Swimwear section and was in Miss Shop for a while before moving up to the office. Miss Shop and Tokito had some great poofy skirts and cute little cap sleeved dresses perfect for mori this time last year. Does anyone else feel like they've gotten as far as they can with lolita? I used to go to herajika's flikr and marvel at all the wonderful things she has, and hope that one day my closet would be so grand. I'd also sift through January closet posts and bookmark the ones I thought were the most impressive. But now, I feel like I've "collected" all the dresses I wanted, and that my closet is on par. I guess a big part of why I thought lolita was fun was hunting down the dream items, besides wearing the fashion. I tend to get this way about dolls, books, movies, games, and such: I must collect all the ones that were on my "must have" list. I feel like I've reached that point now. I don't necessarily own all the rarest prints right now, but at one point or another I did and have sold them because I didn't like them as much as I thought I would.

Does anyone else feel this way? Now that I'm only on the lookout for new releases, I feel like lolita is moving so much slower... If I don't like one month's releases, I have to wait another month or more for the next. I don't feel as involved as I used to, but it's not because I don't like the fashion as much. There just aren't many more things for me to do to feel more involved.

According to the shop staff there will be VERY LITTLE stock. They are only rereleasing the two JSKs in black and navy. No skirt, no ivory color way. Also, I'm fairly sure the headpiece is a barrette this time and not a headbow.

The measurements and design are exactly the same otherwise. I foresee utter chaos.

The fact is that "less than a [business] week" is more than a reasonable enough time to expect someone to have sent something out once the buyer has paid, and as an active seller taking days to respond to communication is ridiculous.

If the seller needs more time then THEY should initiate communication to let the buyer know that they're running behind on shipping, the buyer shouldn't have to hound the seller about when they'll be getting their item. Sellers often seem to forget that there is more to their end of the bargain than listing an item and getting the payment in their Paypal account. Orchard Corsets are made of crap quality. Most corsets that are not custom made look terrible under clothing. Places like Timeless Trends, Orchard, other mass-produced China products are made to be seen over clothes rather than create a nice silhouette underneath them.

I have 2 custom corsets from local corsetmakers, and because they are made from historical patterns they are meant to look decent under clothes. If you cannot afford this option, I'd suggest just buying a waist cincher to wear under your lolita, NOT an overbust (especially a longline!) because they will most likely make you look tubular rather than curvy.

Back when Etsy was just getting started, a lot of premiere corsetmakers set up profiles there. One of my favorites is Jill Hoverman whose username is jillscorsets. She is great and will take your custom measurements, send you a mock-up to put on, and you can give her feedback (written or take pictures to send back) on if it should be altered before she makes the final product. I think her day job is at Romantasy corsets in San Francisco. She's probably the cheapest one off the top of my head, since you said you don't want to dump a lot of money. I could find some others for you but the ones I'm thinking of are in the $200+ range so that's probably more than you're looking to spend.
