It's kind of funny to me that so many Asian girls cosplay Sonia, even in western countries, given that she is literally the only white character in the entire main cast.

Makes me wonder why she's not a more popular choice for white cosplayers in this fandom. This is the ONLY character in the series that white cosplayers have a better shot at being 'canon' for, and yet she's not even in the top 10 most popular cosplays for this series.

Maybe because most people don't really care about cosplayers being the 'canon' race- particularly in Japan, they think of most pale characters being 'aracial' aka japanese/white/whatever, and then they just blackface/tan for the darker-skinned characters for the sake of filling up groups. In a country with such a homogenous racial composition no-one really gives a shit about the european character being cosplayed by a european because there are barely any europeans.

why not just make it? it would save you the trouble of shopping online and risking getting something thats off size/style wise! plus it probably wouldnt be too hard a sewing project!
at any rate it seems to be a pretty standard cardigan.. my only worry is that if you get a cardigan it might be a fuzzy material which might not go too well once you add on all the line details on her shirt. usually cardigans come in fuzzy fabrics right? junkos cardigan also is really well fitted and has more of a rounded, low neckline that you dont really see in cardigans you can buy (to my knowledge, at least), as most cardigans come with v necks or some shit
you could look for blazers too, but most blazers dont fit that way nor do they sit low on the hips like junkos, you know?
i think you should give sewing it a go!

She gets posted in these threads (and it isn't even that often) because, whether you like it or not, she's one of the better cosplayers in this fandom with good construction and she wears her body type well.
There is really no need to complain about people posting quality cosplayers in a thread that is usually suffering from a severe deficit of them. I don't ever mind seeing her pics because at least it's consistently good. But I do agree there are better pictures of her more worthy of being posted than that selfie.

Her wig is phenomenal. The curls look so smooth, neat, and tight. I actually don't like Celes's design at all but when it's made and worn well like this it actually looks lovely IRL.

I think it works. Celes is a classic, old-school gothic lolita. There's nothing wrong with a cosplayer using pale powder, bold lips, and plenty of eyeliner for her. Think Mana style.

If you want to know why I think it's a good genderbend, it's because I think she took the look of Ishimaru's uniform and gave it a reasonable girly equivalent (I think the collar color and bow are clever)

She also gets points for keeping his hairline, but making the rest of the hairstyle feminine.

I don't think that part that sticks out of his beanie is meant to be a widow's peak. For a while I thought it was, but then if you look at it, it seems a bit too low and near his eyebrows to be his hairline. But I could be wrong.

souda and ishimaru both have widows peaks, they just have tiny foreheads for some reason. If you look at the side view of souda's head here it is unquestionably a widows peak.

That being said, the hat does cover most of his hair so I think if someone doesn't have the skill level to make a good looking custom hairline, then just bangs would suffice. It would look better than a badly done hairline.
