Looking to create a reusable beard that can be removed easily and looks decent. I've done some research, and know to look for crepe hair/wool and to use either liquid latext applied with spirit gum, but had heard that the liquid latex doesn't last very long- like 4 or 5 uses.

I'm thinking of getting either pantyhose or one of those wig caps I've seen at costume shops and cutting it to shape, and either using the aforementioned adhesives or fabric glue to apply the hair.

Any advice would be very welcome. This is just a mockup for now. I was going for more of a fawn (as in just the baby deer) rather than the magical creature faun. But on realizing I'll probably need to cover the headband I attach the antlers to with flowers I'm leaning more towards the latter. I got some advice on screwing them on which I could have got my dad to do (I'm useless with that sort of thing) only I'm going back to college and won't be able to ask him. So what is the most secure way to attach them and does anyone have a link to a suitable headband?

also with regard to what i'm wearing on my body would a brown dress and petti be appropriate? I'm going to a club in this and don't reall want it to be a "slutty_insert animal" kind of thing.

and should I style the wig? how can I refined the makeup? ANY advice welcome.

The antlers look lovely, try a headband like this: http://www.ebay.com/itm/10-COLOR-WIDE-PLASTIC-HEADBAND-HAIR-BAND-ACCESSORY-WHOLESALE-LOTS-SATIN-HEADWEAR-/270845245913?pt=US_Hair_Accessories&var=&hash=item3f0fa279d9

Putting screws into the antlers isn't as hard as it seems - alternatively you could get some really strong glue but I hope the antlers aren't too heavy.

The dress sounds good, maybe make a small tail and attach it at the back? Might be cute.

About the makeup: It seems a bit orange, better go for a brown makeup. Also, google "fawn maukep" that shit was trending on tumblr some time ago so you will find a lot of examples.

I've done that before with bright orange for the mad hatter. It works but it comes out and gets fucking everywhere. Somehow it stained my shoes permanently and got on furniture and it was quite sticky and grotty and unpleasant to have on your head.

I've been poking around further and it seems like hair chalk is going to work for me. If anyone else is trying to color hair that's what I recommend, it's a lot less messy.

Hello /cgl/,

I'm not very girly, but I really love sheep - so this year I've decided to dress as Little Bo Peep. I have my outfit really close to done (need to add a bow to my crook and make longer straps on a Shaun the Sheep backpack) buuuttt....

I don't know how this make-up thing works. I looked up a sweet lolita video online and I swear this girl used 5 different products on her lips alone. I don't think I own 5 cosmetic products! Could anyone point me to an extremely simple sweet make-up tutorial thingy? Preferably with fewer products and a small chance of resembling a clown at the end?

Can I just vent a little here about my Halloween costume? I'm kind of sewing challenged. I need straight up step by step instructions most of the time when it comes to sewing otherwise I just don't get it at all.
And for Halloween my friends and me were going to do Lord of the Rings, and my job was to make the cloaks. I got everything all good, the hemming, etc, but when it came to the hoods, I just fucked up so bad. I was following that Alleycatscratch pattern, but her hood instructions were so incomprehensible to me, in the end, all the hoods wound up too small. I think they're all supposed to sit loose around your face when you pull them up, but because they're so small, it's kind of tight around your face and sticks up a little at the forehead as if it were a little cap.
I'm so upset over it because I put a lot of effort into it, and all of my friends are assuring me that they love them and they look super cute, but I wanted them to look as accurate as I could.
I suck so much at sewing

So I was thinking of being Beaker but I'm not too sure it's a good idea. The actual clothing won't be an issue, it's the face. All the pictures I see are with a mask and I can't really wear a mask since I have to wear it at work and it's important for me to see. So, I'm in the process of making an astronaut costume. Can't decide if I want to throw a cowboy hat on it and be a space cowboy, but I that's a decision for another time...

What could I use for an astronaut helmet styled similarly to pic related? I was thinking either a really large plastic fishbowl or a clear plastic bowl as the face shield with some sort of opaque bowl to form the back. Maybe a cloth covering to make it look more realistic. I plan on wiring on a sound module, LEDs, and a battery pack so that it flashes with the beat at parties.

Other elements are going to include a white painter's suit, tan palladium 8" canvas boots, a white backpack, and black gloves.

Any suggestions for the helmet would be much appreciated! It's also pretty close to Halloween, so I'm mainly looking for things that can be found in average brick and mortar stores.

Thanks guiseee

Kind of stupid but I want to go as a younger Banehallow from DotA 2. Since I have less than a week to get in together, I figured I would just go for the pants, overcoat, boots, and beard/facial hair.

Where would be a good place to get pants like that and possibly an overcoat? It doesn't have to be exactly like it since I can attempt to make it look more like Banehallow's coat, but yeah, something sort of like it. Boots should be easy to get, as well as the hair.

I'm leaving off the shoulder armour since that's for battle and before the house of Ambry fell he wouldn't need to wear it all the time. Don't know if I want to do the bottom teeth either. I might.

Also, I'm going to dress up my dog like one of his wolves just as a nod to the shapeshifting.

Hey /cgl/ers

I'm 5'10" and in good shape, can also grow a decent blonde beard, got blue eyes yadda yadda.

Basically I was wondering if going as Thor next year would be a big mistake because of my height, even with big Thor boots I'd probably barely hit 6ft tall and he's meant to be like 6'3".

Would I be embarrassing myself, even with the right amount of muscle mass? I'm afraid I'd have a decent costume but people would laugh because I'm not that tall.

I am having an issue with creating my Halloween costume. I am going to be Chilihiro from Spirited Away. ( As pictured) I have the shorts, shoes and even soot balls to pin on me however I am having trouble making the shirt

I have tried fabric paint ( from a bottle and spray can) with every type of tape but no matter what I do I can't the paint bleeds giving me an uneven line.

how the hell are you painting it? just water down some fabric paint (but not so much that it bleeds) and do the outlines with a steady hand using a ruler as reference. (tape only really works on non-absorbent materials really)

easier said then done bro. Even with a ruler I have a feeling it would bleed through because the fabric is absorbent.

>> No.7168219

>>7168207
Then don't water it down? Fabric paint usually sits on top of the fabric - I've never had an issue with it bleeding, even on delicate fabrics. Also, you can't use fabric paint as a substitute for glue. If you go that route, get real fabric glue or Heat n' Bond.

>> No.7168217

>>7168207
just don't use a lot of water when doing the edges, then you can go nuts with it when you fill it in. Bleeding only happens when you use watery paint.

Don't use the ruler as a paint shield, just lay it next to the place you're making a line. do a quick one stroke then more careful tiny strokes.
