I remember when I first saw this happening OP.

Remember when it used to take months and months to get even a promo image for an anime/game from Japan?
As soon as we started getting stuff the same month it came out in Japan I began to see the "me first" wagon hoppers.

Final Fantasy X was more than 8 months from release here in the US and still had something like 6 months to go before release in Japan and I started seeing Rikkus and Yuna's all over the fucking place. I was like...what if the game sucks? What if you HATE that character? What if she does things like suck 50 cocks and then has a baby with her brother? Why in the hell would you ever cosplay anything before it came out?

It's not quite as bad when a series has made a debut. But still, if you aren't at least 5 eps in, why make it?

For me, it's a HUGE HONKING MARKER that you are more about attention than you are about loving a show/game/book.

The only excuse I can think of is being totally in love with the character design that you just had to make it now. But then again if you were so in love with it then you'd want it to look perfect and would take your time on it. When you see the majority of "me first" they are sloppy as hell.

In Kill la Kill, I had more of an issue with Ryuuko consistently waking up naked with some random guy humping/hovering over her menacingly (specifically Mako's dad, and white Akio) in episode 2, and the show playing it off as something funny. It was actually really uncomfortable, and even the people who watched it with me agreed it was a mood killer.

I understand their style is to be over the top. I'm fine with fanservice. I'm fine with objectification. Hell I'm even fine with rape in shows - if it's treated as a serious issue. But when rape is played off as a giant joke and something to laugh rather than cringe at, I really draw the line.

I love Kill la Kill so far, but I wish the creators would realize you can have a funny, over-the-top, sexy anime starring female characters without having to use rape jokes.

Double sided/fashion tape or spirit gum. Nude bra if you're really afraid of nipslips, though it seems people don't care as much about nipslips as they do... other body parts.

Wearing a bodysuit over your ass isn't going to work when they both wear thongs, so you're inevitably going to have to modify the lower portions of both outfits unless you want to Tunamelt it up at late night Dragoncon.

Ryuko has full ass coverage at one point during ep1 when the boxer ((whose name I already forgot) attacks her.

Anyone who plans on doing either of these without heavy modesty mods should deeeeefinately ask the convention or security chair before even planning to bring the costume to a con. Practice poses you plan to use for photos beforehand so you know what's going to inevitably cause a wardrobe malfunction.

Avoid cons notorious for over-bearing power-tripping security/gophers who might harass you- like Ohayocon. Preferably wear it later at night when you're less likely to cause parental complaints (though the later you wear it the more likely you'll be to encounter drunk guys so either bring a friend or be ready to grab security).

Also, PSA: If you're not comfortable with cosplaying it, ffs don't. If I see any Lewdketsu cosplayers posting gigantic Tumblr rants about how some guy was raping her with their eyes, I'm going find out where they live and fill their entire house with wet sand.
