Arda's out of stock of Maroon Jeannies, so what should I pick for Kyoko (in time for the Rebellion Story premiere)? Apple Red Jeannie or Maroon Jasmine?

>> No.7135832

Go with the Maroon Jasmine. I got the Maroon Jeanne for my Kyoko and the color is amazing. Apple red would be too red.

Neither have the proper styling in the front, so either way you'll need to style it. The only difference between the two is ponytail clip vs no ponytail clip.

I also sewed in some wig combs. Made a huge difference.

not OP, but care to post some pic if you have any, please?

I really hate self-posting... but it's the only way in this case (was hoping no one would ask).

This is after a day of running around the con protecting my spear and doing other craziness on a Saturday of Megacon, so the ponytail tangled. It tangles REALLY easy, but I've noticed that with Arda's fibers in the long wigs.

I split the ponytail in the bast wig in two and pulled the top one up so it stuck out the top of the clip for the fluff on the top of her ponytail. Clips are sewn at each temple and at the base of the back of the wig.

I'm 5'6" tall with most of my height in my torso and the ponytail still reaches my butt (you can see the tangles in the right photo).

Again, this is the Jeanne, so I'm not sure where the Jasmine would lay. I DO know the color was exactly what I hoped it would be.

Backshot. It's in the shadows, though. Best I could find. Go by the other for samples of the maroon.

Not the OP and just passing through but you make a great Kyoko!

Thank you. Madoka costumes are harder than they look, so it's much appreciated!

(OP) Looks great! Very nice Kyoko cosplay :)
Just found out that Arda's restocking the Maroon Jeannie this month (well before Rebellion Story), so I've decided on that. It looks great for your cosplay, so I'm sure it'll work great :)

Thank you!

Very glad I could help. Just like I said, be ready to cut the front to work. The bangs are way too long to work straight from the bag.

>> No.7137001

Jeannies are terrible, just get a mid length wig and sew the wefts in the bottom yourself. Arda also tangles like hell so if you use a different base you can go with a wig that tangles less. Epic is good, and I've had luck with cosplaywigsusa/gothic Lolita wigs

Thank you very much! you did a great job!

They're good for the price ($40 for the wig and the pony clip), also great for people with no experience or comfort in weft sewing. Arda's fibers do tangle easily, but at the length most wigs will (just bring a wig comb with you).

Thank you! I love PMMM and want to see more cosplay from it, so I want to help as much as possible! If you have any other questions about the costume just let me know (I have this thread bookmarked and will check in now and then).

the amount of work it takes to get a Jennie into useful condition is so much it kind of looses the "beginner" apeal. When i style one I had to

>take it in because it was too big for my head
>add wefts to the sides because the top was so bare
>build a wire armature to place my styrofoam above my stub because the fibers were too short to put it up high enough
>constantly keep it braded when note inside so it doesn't tangle to shit.

I would say sewing wefts into a wig is way more beginner friendly than the intense styling I had to do to get mine to a point it was useable.

>>7137236
Could've been the wig itself. I just had to re-ponytail (just like a normal ponytail with the wig on my head) and trim the front (which would've had to be done on most wigs).

>> No.7137312

>>7137281
I used the Jeannie to make a White/Hilda wig (from Pokemon Black and White) and had the same problems as >>7137236
it probably would've been less maddening if I had created the style using the old fashioned route of using an Angela wig and some matching wefts. The Jeannie was free but never again.

(OP) Do you use any kind of hairspray to keep the Jeannie's base ponytail from becoming undone while wearing?

>> No.7140209

>>7139331
Nope. It stayed up fairly well on its own. I just remember to redo them each time I wear it. They fall out more when I'm NOT wearing it (it was falling out when it was shipped to me).

I had SUCH a hard time re-ponytailing my Jeannie. I literally had spent over a half a day trying to get everything smooth and the ponytail high, but, it just straight up did not work. My head is almost 23inches and there's a cosplay that I want to do that the Jeannie would be absolutely perfect for, but, I'm scared of running into this same situation again.

(OP) Having problems with PayPal, so I opted to group order this Taobao Kyoko wig instead:
http://item.taobao.com/item.htm?spm=a230r.1.14.55.6BdSAJ&id=10039067918&initiative_new=1

How does it compare with the Jeannie?
