I'm a bigger girl, and I know there isn't much I can cosplay well, or accurately. I've decided to cosplay Rumi from Perfect Blue, in her red dress at the end. I just posted on facebook that I was planning on doing the costume, and I was wondering if any of my smaller friends would want to cosplay Mima with me. I just had a friend who is honestly way bigger than I get all excited and started messaging me about how she'd love to cosplay Mima. I honestly would rather not do the group with her, but I have no idea how to let her down easy (as I still respect her friendship) ideas seagulls?

I've got a stupid question.

A few years ago, when Anime Insider was still being published, I remember seeing a picture of Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell wearing a fur coat. It was just a pose or cover art or something, not a still from the anime. But I've been trying to track this picture down for a week or so now. Does anyone else remember it? I feel like I'm going crazy.

How do you cosplay as someone who "mistreats" a flag without getting people mad at you personally? In Jojo Valentine's signature weapon is a US flag which he lays on the floor, drapes over his body and even sits/punches it as seen here.

lolita newb here

I want to make my own lolita style dress, but I have a question about the way they are constructed. All the pretty edge-printed fabric skirts and dresses: is the grain of the fabric always perpendicular to the floor? Are they just... gathered rectangles? Is there any sort of darting near the waistline? Tying that knot is actually really easy, it just takes practice. With hanhaba obi and fancy knots, the trick is really just making the folds the right length for the proportions you want. Also, if you use a rubberband or bulldog clip to secure things before wrapping the tails over, it'll hold better without being visible.

As an alternative, you could sew a tsukuri obi/pretied obi. Basically, you make a waist portion that's flat, with ties to connect the two ends. Then, the part with the "bow" is folded and sewn into place separately and attached on a clip. Once you tie the flat part on, you put the clip in place in back.

Looks nice, easy to make and wear.

Super Heroes are great for shit like this, if you are in to that kind of thing. There are a number of characters with full masks, and if you are looking at half masks than you can do pretty much anyone. Some examples include Batgirl (Cassandra Cain), from DC or Spider Woman from Marvel. Also, a ton of villains wear masks, so you can run through those and see if you can find one you like.

LEDs are easy enough to find and install, but where could I get a speaker that could play .mp3s or .wavs? Something ala the speakers they put in those talking stuffed animals, I guess?

And going from there, would I be able to hook up the LEDs and speaker to the same battery pack, or would I need two separate ones?

So I'm going to be cosplaying Take-Mikazuchi, and I'm kind of confused on making the pauldrons. Never made pauldrons that go completely around the arm.

How might I go about this? I've got papier-mache, expanding foam, and crafting foam at my disposal. I was thinking the balloon method for the roundness (papier-mache balloon, harden, pop balloon, have a round form), then expanding foam outward from there, but I was wondering if another idea might be better.

The Flag of the United States of America is a thing to be respected, at least within it's own Country's boundaries. There are specific rules for the use of the flag, and while other people who abuse the flag due to their ignorance, it doesn't mean that others should continue to do the same. And yes, burning the flag once it has been worn out is commonplace, but there's ways to do it respectfully instead of bounding around like monkeys near a strewn-about flag doused in gasoline.

Use the original Colonial Betsy Ross flag, as it's the one people will throw less of a hissy-fit about. Besides, I can easily name 5 of the original 13 "colonies" that suck balls in modern times.

I'm a bigger girl, and last year I went as a female version of Amon, all I did to change the design was cut the coat to flatter a female form. I had a guy yell out at me that 1. I was too fat to cosplay Amon, and 2. If I was going to do a female version I should have made it sexy to give him something interesting to look at.
It does happen, but in my 4 years of con-going this was pretty much the only thing that has ever happened to me, and I laughed it off. I have, however, heard comments said fairly loudly about other plus size cosplayers before.

However I've also never worn a revealing costume that didn't flatter/suit my body type. This year I will be going as Rumi from perfect blue (in the last scene where she is insane in a red dress), This dress will just barely cover my ass and be less flattering, since that is the design of it. I'm honestly expecting nasty comments.

Also, we both need wigs, and we need them shipped from within the UK. I've found 2 that fit our idea so far, but one is trashy-looking and the other costs 23652796 pounds. Any suggestions? I was going to recommend Coscraft, since you want one from the UK, but since you pulled your picture off their site, I can only assume that's the one you meant was 23652796 pounds. Finding a good quality wig that is from within the UK won't be much cheaper than the £20 Coscraft is asking for. Cheaper wigs will more than likely be those rubbish halloween/party shop wigs. If you want something cheaper, you'll have to look outside of the UK and more than likely buy from China.

One of my parents put a sweater of mine through the dryer and it melted the faux-fur lining on the hood into a knotted mess. I was able to comb it out with a fine-toothed comb and a much larger one, but is there anything I can do to help the frizzy tips that are left? During combing I had rubbed in a mix of moisturizer, lotion and hair cream that seemed to have helped a lot but this is left over.

Should I trim it if nothing helps? It's a nice sweater (and I'm sorry this is more /fa/ related but I found it more akin to detangling a bad wig)

>> No.7128560

>>7128551
This might sound totally counter-productive, as it depends on the quality of the fibers. What some people do is take a hair straightener on a low setting, and iron the frizzies straight again. That might be difficult to do in your situation, depending on the length of the fur and how heat resistant it actually is (if it melted in the dryer, probably not too much).

It might be better just to trim it in your case.

Thing is, some of their prices are ridiculous.

Also the sizing is a bit off. When I buy there, I'm almost the EXACT measures of the bases they give on one of the sizes but they sometimes run long since they use "tall manniquins" ....which I don't think should change the pant length measurement since it's advertised as ##"

What are your thoughts on wearing Kigurumis at cons? I'll be staffing/volunteering for a convention next month and they 'encourage' us to dress up and whatnot. Its cold beyond all belief right now and its only going to get worse next month. if I made changes to a costume to reflect more historical accuracy rather than series accuracy, would people appreciate it or just think I'm retarded?

the dress for the time should have a bit of a bustle and a train rather than just a flat back and there should be additional seamlines for darts down the front, the bodice and skirt should also be separate.

I usually stick 100% to series accuracy, but I've recently gotten obsessed with period costuming and would love to try out some new techniques and try to bring it to 'life' but at the same time it's not set 100% on earth, so technically the costumes don't need to follow any rules of the era.

I'm sorry to be this dumb, but I've tried looking everywhere online for information for the schedule on this year's Pacific Media Expo (PMX) and just can't for the life of me find where the schedule is. I only want to go on one day, for the fashion show and special guest designer tea party because Juliette et Justine is coming! And other people have told me that Saturday is the day out of the 3 that has the main events going on, like the fashion show usually happens, but I don't know what times things begin and then there was a talk about a tea party possibly being held at an outside venue, and I can't find a clear answer on their site whether registering for a one-day badge means you've also paid for seeing the fashion show and potentially going to this tea party? I really just would like to know where to find concrete information on how this thing works. I've never been to a convention before so I'm a bit worried. Should I try submitting a query on their website, or can /cgl/ help me out and give me some stories about how this con has gone in previous years? I figure there must be some SoCal seagulls who have been to PMX before.

Any help would be appreciated. I know first-time con-goer questions are probably not that interesting.

I feel like calling off the skit, but I don't want to let my friends down. Without me they can't perform it and we've spent a lot of time preparing it. I'd feel like such a dick if I walk out on them like that.

You mean like elmer's glue that dries "clear" or actual clear glue? Clear glue should do fine, elmer's tends to dry a little milky looking if you put it on thick.

Of course if you want veins, that little bit of opacity might work out. (It's hard to picture exactly what you want though)

Well, i was hoping to hide the actual light source close to the vein, but completely covered in a pocket of sorts. My plan was to run a line of glue from a glob of it attached to the light outside of the pocket. My main concern is if the light would even be able to go through it, and how far it would be able to travel.

Yay there's more of us! I thought i was the only person who had such a lot of difficulty reading analogue clocks! I wish they'd paint the minute hand and the hour hand different colours. I remember it like the minute hand is longer, because there's more minutes than hours. But I fuck up a lot and say "Forty five past eight" or "fifty eight past ten" instead of their equivalents.

Can anyone give me some advice on what sort of fabric I should use to make this red bag?

I wanna do a Homestuck troll cosplay, not sure which yet, but what I wanna know is how do you do the grey skin makeup thing? Also I have no idea how to use make up or bodypaint, so it'd be great if I could get the "for dummies" version.

You can also skip the mixing steps by purchasing Ben Nye Cadaver Grey as they're really close to the same shade.

If you need help later on, open the catalog and search for 'mspa' to find the current general.
