For cell shading use a dark brown eyeliner pencil or grey (milani) black comes of super odd in most photos. If you have an airbrush use it for the best look.

I fav'd the Lilith stuff in dA too: my god the details! I can't handle this quality!

Here is my Firehawk progress, as promised.
I put this together in ~4 days (including ref hunting) because I wanted to cosplay to Gearbox Community Day and I was feeling pretty alright about it, considering the time constraints, until I saw that XNALara model. Now I want to scrap the entire thing!
I didn't finish the boot area or the arm stuff yet, as I gave up on making it to the event, so those are going to (hopefully) not look like shit when actually get to wear her out.
Not happy with the wig coloring either: I sharpied from light pink trying to get the gradient but I can't get the red dark enough/saturated.
I'm going to remake the chaps in a lighter brown (since you can't see any of the cellshading I did on these) and remake the yellow thing out of something that won't twist up so terribly.
I goofed when doing the bold lines on my top so now they curve with my body instead if running straight like they should so I'll have to remake that too.
The lighting is also awful in those makeup test shots so the colors/cellshading is represented poorly: I'm pale as hell but the lighting in my apartment is ugly and make me weirdly yellow (and I didn't think to use flash because ???).

Ummm, I think that is about all the rambling required for this so I'd appreciate some critique if you can think of something important I didn't cover or just have some helpful brotips.

Woah guys, the faceshape thing isn't offensive or even mildly upsetting (as half of you have already stated): I asked for critique and it doesn't sound like that anon is sayin anything more than that I need to work on my makeup to compensate for sharp facial angles.
Although this is funny because I contoured my makeup so that I would look sharper for Lilith so mayhaps I'll have to reconsider that next time. I think part of it is the terribly lighting though! I feel like I have a rather chubby face generally.

Hey, I would like to cosplay Lilith but her hair is the problem. Does anyone have any good tips with it? Should I just buy a red wig and add light pink/white fiber and hand dye the gradient effect? And oh, should I add a bit darker colour to the roots/into the wig in general or should I just ignore the "lines" she has in her hair? If you choose to forgo the lines I wouldn't think it would look stupid in comparison to the rest of the costume, her hair is pretty dark anyway. To be honest from what I've seen most attempts to cell shade a wig end up looking pretty corny

However, while your makeup is looking pretty good your facial expressions are causing your face to look sharp. You have a very cat-who-ate-the-canary smirk on your face, which is an expression we NEVER see on Lilith. By Borderlands 2, she's an eridium addict, she's been forced in to hiding, she's lost her boyfriend (which oh my god, really Gearbox that was the dumbest thing) and by the end of the game she's endured some pretty crazy torture. There's no smirking to be had for Lilith.

I'm not saying you're not gorgeous because YOU ARE. Just try to think more like Lilith, what she's gone through, and what's ahead of her. Then you'd be fantastic.
