//completely not what the title suggests//

How do you dress your date when you go out in lolita?

I want my boyfriend to go out with me while I'm dressed up, but he says he feels like he's too underdressed. I'm not entirely sure what to do for him, but he's willing to listen to my advice on what would look nice.

Suggestions? He's not into the fashion himself (though he says it looks nice on me, he just doesn't want to dress that way) and he also doesn't have a suit.

ITT: Boys, boys, boys. (Or girls, if that's how you like it.)

Pic relatively unrelated.

Why would you date a guy who doesn't own a suit?

>> No.7107016

I like my boyfriend to wear a button-up overshirt.

nothing too fancy, but I think that's what works for him.
I'm in the same boat as you OP, bf feels underdressed.
I just don't want him feeling left out.

>Why would you date a guy who doesn't own a suit?

He did just graduate high school last year. Also, I date him because I genuinely enjoy being around him.

Ugh. Glad I'm not alone. I was actually thinking he might go for something like a nice vest and a pair of slacks with a plain undershirt.

>like a nice vest and a pair of slacks with a plain undershirt.

honestly, it just depends on his style. mine just wants to dress to compliment my style.
going to try to go thrifting and get him a vest. also, try looking up "lolita couple"

my bf complains about this too even when he's wearing his best.
i'd like to get him some kodona/aristocrat because i know he doesn't have the patience to browse second hand sites/order internationally but i keep spending my money on dresses instead lol

I go for a classical look, so I thought making him look like a dapper victorian gent might work. Then he saw the prices and had a shit fit about me spending that much money on an outfit for him.

Usually he just wears tshirts and jeans, but he borrowed his dad's suit last year and looked pretty damn good.

>>7107046
I'll just get yelled at if I spend a lot of money on clothes for him. His job doesn't pay very well (neither does mine, though) so he feels bad that I end up paying for most stuff :T

Nice slacks, button up shirt (fitted, please), a tie, and nice dress shoes.

My boyfriend loves to suit up when I wear lolita on dates... it's cute!

>> No.7107102

I don't dress up my boyfriend. Instead, I dress down and wear outfits closer to otome and rarely wear a petticoat. Funny enough, wearing full out lolita has become a fun activity that I do for myself. It is a way for me to spend some "me time". Boyfriend doesn't mind me wearing lolita but somehow I just never want to wear my fancy outfits around him. He dresses like a hipster (without the attitude, thank the lord) and I don't mind the way he dresses. However, I think that lolitas and oujis look cute together!

Mine thinks that his best dressed is his favourite Gundam Tshirt(from Uniqlo in Japan) with jeans.

>I want my boyfriend to go out with me while I'm dressed up, but he says he feels like he's too underdressed.

He's hoping you'll stop trying to dress him and stop dragging him around to all your girly shit. But that's a beta for you.

>> No.7107246

My boyfriend likes fancy EGA-inspired stuff, so he normally wears that when he comes to lolita events with me. He's always the best-dressed guy there, the other guys in my old comm would come in jeans and a t shirt and sit in the corner and sulk not talking to anyone. One of them seemed to never even wash, dunno why his wife kept bringing him, nobody liked him. On the one hand, I was glad my boyfriend was well-dressed and sociable, but on the other, it was kind of annoying how little effort the others put in.

>> No.7107275

I have a girlfriend and I would love to invite her to my comm's reunions and stuff since she used to dress in lolita too, but I'm a little scared since the girls in my comm always bring their boyfriends and some of them are kinda homophobic.
Is it a good idea or should I just forget about it?
Sage for offtopic.

>> No.7107655

Even if he's just out of highschool, a suit is good to have. What will he wear to weddings, funerals, court hearings, and job interviews? Khakis just look sloppy in any if these situations. You should be able to find some vintage suits at savers, goodwill, Salvation Army, or other thrifty places. My guy has a collection of suits in all different colors that he got for under $30 each, so money really isn't a good excuse. If he wants to dress up, point him in that direction. If he doesn't make an effort, let him be. He's probably too beta to tell you he wants no part in your frilly bullshit.

I have the biggest lesbian crush on a lolita, I can't stand when girls wear boystyles because they just look SO nice anyone else thinks this way?

Also, how do I talk to her? I want to get to know her she's not even in my comm, should I make a valentine or something? Pic related, is her.

Well, no, he's the one who encouraged me to get into lolita in the first place. He thinks I look good in it, and I don't just go out and do girly shit when I dress up. Just our usual stuff, going out on dates or to the movies.

>>7107275
Bring her. Bring her and be so fucking kawaii that the other girls shit their overfluffed bloomers.

>>7109350
Well, not really. All guys should really have a nice set of clothes. But my boyfriend's family is... weird. They don't buy him anything, won't drive him to a job, and won't help him get a car so he can get his own job. I really don't like them. But yeah, he doesn't have any nice clothes thanks to that. He lives in the middle of buttfuck nowhere, so he can't walk to a job either.

There is a big difference between not having a job and being a neckbeard and not needing a suit.

I have my dress blues, which is basically a suit or serves the same purpose anyways. But even then I wear them next to never.

I have nice shirts and ties. Shoes shined up, but no need for a blue collar worker to have a suit really.

Like I am going to wear a suit for an interview for fixing planes or working on a boiler.

>Button down to match my colors (black, chocolate, gray, etc)

This works for us - he doesn't feel underdressed, but he is still in his regular comfy clothes.

I'm a classic so jewel tones and neutrals will match me, but I have also seen BFs show up in nice slacks and a pastel button down to match their amarori GFs, and it looks really nice, imo, if your guy is comfortable in pink.

? If you are interested in someone, tell them/ask them out. If it doesn't work out, then you stay friends. If either one of you are too immature or maybe insecure to stay friends after something like that, then just move on with your life. If the friendship is that important, than simply because she doesn't feel that way about dating you shouldn't change your mind about being her friend...

You... won't ask someone out because of this? I'm afraid you need to really get some confidence or life is going to be sad for you. I hope you don't mind me here, I'm a guy and I've always enjoined stories from the Edwardian era, I even had a 1915 model T.
Would an Edwardian suit, the kind that Gomez Addams wore in the Addams Family TV show be acceptable? I also have a somewhat Victorian styled suit with a long frock coat from Turkey, that a religious scholar would have worn.
I went to a party in formal tails, to be the butler, but the hostess quickly found a ribbon sash, and a gold medallion and I became a Count.
