I've been watching too much anime with wicked awesome couples.. and I'm all sad about being all alone without a cosplaying fella with whom I can fullfiill all these pairings I love.

so. can we have couples cosplay? You know, so I can make myself more sad and stuf.

Animue relationships are always over idealized because they stress that initial period when you are falling in love because everyone knows it's all downhill after that feeling passes. Real relationships never work out that way unless you plan to commit mutual suicide after your first time having sex with each other.

Maybe it's like that in shounen and shoujo, but not in josei or seinen.

Depends a lot on the series, there are plenty of mature relationships as well. It's just that the "warm fuzzies falling in love" stage is the most popular, so of course more stories are going to focus on it.

Ai Yazawa is the queen of making relationships that break my heart. After I read Paradise Kiss it kinda shattered my perception of how manga relationships would always turn out right in the end. THEY LOVED EACH OTHER BUT ENDED UP WITH THE PEOPLE WHO WERE EASIER TO BE WITH UGH

>> No.7102519

Man Paradise Kiss is casual tier compared to NANA though, like the whole George/Yukari thing is kinda depressing but holy shit, everything to do with Takumi and Reira in NANA is heartbreaking. Not to mention the BIG SPOILER towards the end of the manga that fucks up one of the only half-decent relationships there is in the whole thing.

Well you know what I meant. Hopefully one day it'll end. Though to be honest if it ends with anything other than Reira killing herself, Takumi getting framed for her murder/having his career ruined and drinking himself to death(yeah fuck Takumi is what I'm getting at here) and Hachi finally being free to be with Nobu, I will be rustled.

Is that the one where the guy torments the chick and treats her like a slave and it has sort of pop art-ish covers? I've read at least part of that one, I think the bullying got too bad for me to stay into it. Another manga where things take a turn for the relationship would be Peach Girl, though she does end up with a happy ending with a different guy after she had to break up with her original guy because she was being blackmailed about being raped.

yup, that's the manga you're thinking of. spoilers, the girl ends up choosing the abuser guy over her kind adopted brother. i think the asshole model guy didn't even get what he deserved either. the whole manga was so fucking disturbing. the only redeeming factor was the cute popular girl/otaku guy couple.

>>7102519
everytime i think of the ending (or lack thereof) i feel like crying, totally fucked me up. i wish that didn't have to happen. I don't think it's healthy of you to use a buzzword which demonizes any attempt at self-improvement like that.

I'm just saying that the combination of an intellectual consensus, as well as a rich tradition (which anime doesn't have as a young artform) makes it quite easy for me to justify why I find anime boring in comparison (usually).

Trying to bash any hobby that isn't lauded by college professors isn't exactly healthy, either. Hobbies are for fun. There's nothing wrong with having one that isn't traditional. Because you can't "justify" your hobbies being more fun and interesting to anyone but yourself. You're stupid for arguing this in the first place, same with the person against you. Hobbies aren't objective, people. Honestly I'm wondering what board you were aiming for that got you here.

Uh.. what do you think aesthetics is? A whole history of writing is suddenly invalid because some chick on /cgl/ thinks everyone should be sophists and keep their reasons to themselves?

>Hobbies aren't objective, people
Who said they were objective? If they were objective then I wouldn't be appealing to tradition and smart people, I'd just dig out my statistics from empirical tests.
