So, I'm considering purchasing this blouse in off white. I'm a busty girl with a good minimizing bra. How would this fare? Would the large collar downplay my bust a bit, or look terrible?

>> No.7068425

>>7068382
That's not a good choice for someone busty. I guess it depends on how low the bra brings your size to, but neck-high shirts with bibs and collars are more suited to smaller-breasted girls.

If you want to downplay your bust, get something with not so much going on in the chest area (more ruffles/bows adds more bulk, you want less). Try to keep away from anything that goes up to your neck if you can.

Can this dress ever be good/acceptable?
I found it (in brown)at the thrift store and removed the ugly lace on the sleeves, and the shitty cravat. What else can I do to it?

See, bodyline shows you pictures of the dresses, then you click on a picture of the dress you like, and underneath that picture will be info about the dress (those mysterious NUMBERS you see everyone using), and buttons that let you buy it.

So it's not so much remembering as it is browsing the website for more information.

People usually aren't that busy and google the numbers. then they're like "Oh man, that's my dress!" and send a review.

There's a nice list on hello lace here:
http://hellolace.net/shopping/where-to-buy

Also you can just google "Gothiclolita indie brands" (google filters out the word lolita, so no space seems to bypass it) for some lists as well.

Indie brands based in areas with larger people are more likely to accommodate for larger bust sizes. Get something that fits your boobs and you can always tailor it down to fit the rest of you.

Okay, here you go:
Since you said you were mostly concerned for the lace then I went ahead and took some pictures for you. I'll start there:
the lace isn't too bad. it's not too thin it could just be better, but it looks okay enough to not condemn the entire blouse. It's not soft by any means, but it doesn't feel scratchy either. Tbh, I'd avoid the black and white because the amount of lace on the blouse it self is quite a lot and it'll stand out even more. To me, that color way is ita material.
I've worn it several times and I do find it comfy enough. The fabric has that typical stiff-like feel to it, but I imagine that it'll go away after several washes. Mine was certainly a lot more stiff when I got it.
As you can see, the bows at the top of the bunny ears are made of satin and so are the details around the collar. I don't mind them, I actually like the satin details around the collar while the bows on the back go ignored more than half of the time since they get covered by my hair.
Lastly, the waist ties are removable.

It's an all around okay blouse to me, nothing special and nothing terrible either.

Whatever you want. Just look at the pictures REALLY carefully. Don't be fooled by pictures of bodyline "worn well" that have pretty filters placed over them. Look at the actual stock photos, because they give you the best ideas about the outfit. They can also help you decide whether the lace on an outfit is questionable or not. Also, if you have a measuring tape, use that shit. You will be miserable in the online shopping world without one.

Keep in mind, it's a great starting place, but if you want better quality, you will have to shell out a few bucks for more expensive clothing. That's what closet child is for, though.

What do you guys think about this one? I really like the skirt part but the I'm not sure about the top, especially the ribbons and the loopy neck thing. It also seems to be sold out in white, which is the only color I'd get it in - pink and sax look a little frumpier and black and white looks kinda old or tryhard to me - maybe it's an aversion developed right after my lust for kawaii maid-sama dresses died. Number I221.

Hahah no, it's alright - the top really does look horrible. I never liked the whole ribbony thing, or the sleeves, or really the whole style of the front - but then, I've never seen it come up much. I have really specific tastes and I was like "well maybe it's someone's thing, you never know"

Now I know. Actually, I'd like to thank you, I'm just starting out, and I'd really like to not be horrible. That's pretty much my entire goal. I don't seem to be doing very well at it though.

What do you seagulls think about bl's L459 in black ? I really need some easy to wash classic stuffs, but it look a bit...off to me. I have trouble finding it well worn, and the stock photo looks really bad. Note that I can sew a bit, I'll definitly remove the little bow and make something cuter in IW's style

Here is a tumblr one: alice-the-strange dot tumblr dot com slash post slash 45698921579 slash my-dress-from-bodyline-i-might-make-a-review

The worn picture isn't that great quality either but to me the fabric looks kind of awkward - maybe it's not so bad in black? If you want classic stuff from Bodyline I would say go with the skirts, especially the high-waisted ones.

I bought this dress in pink and was actually rather shocked that the chiffon used on the bottom of the skirt is actually polka-dotted! It also needed a good ironing when I took it out of the bag, but that's to be expected.
Other than that, the skirt has an EXTRAORDINARILY beautiful shape, and can accommodate as few or as many petticoats you are willing to stuff under it. It's also very comfortable!

The few times i've seen it sold, the rose columns have been far more 'off course' than the stock image. So where it goes rose-blank-rose, the rose part of the bodice meets a blank portion of the skirt.

The seem between bodice and skirt is too jarring too, for me personally.

To be honest, I'd be okay with wearing a broad enough sash that it covered the misalignment or something. It's the skirt on this one that gets me.

My love for this dress is irrational and stupid, and I've bought three brand dresses similar to it in the hopes of scratching that itch, to no avail.

My sister had a high quility wig once. It was able to be heat styled like real hair (without, you know burning like plastic normally does), and there was a patch of rubber near on the top where the hair came out to look like a scalp.

Needless to say she didn't take care of it.

How does everyone deal with the lack of fullness in their skirts? I recently got the chocoberry skirt, and it lacks so muh fabric in the back I think I might have to buy a second to sew together. Wearing a smaller petticoat doesn't seem to help, since there is such a small amount of fabric used in the rear half of the skirt.

Yes, they're terrible because they're so dang stingy. With prints anyway.
I sold my last bodyline printed piece a couple weeks ago that I almost feel bad for them and practically anyone who covets it (it was the carousel JSK).
Some of their skirts and dresses will be full but as said, defs not something that's a print bar a few exceptions.

But have you seen the back of their outfits? The front looks really pretty and full, but no matter how little petti is used its pretty obvious that they cheaped the fuck out.

It sucks because I like this print, and liked some of their other prints. But if they're all like that..... I think I'd rather spend the money elsewhere. I really want to like bodyline as a wardrobe padder, but I'm thinking that's not happening.

It also sucks cause I wanted to coord it for a meet. I'm sure no one but me will care, but it's killing me.

I haven't, no. I'm not a sweet lolita so I don't buy prints from BL so I can't say I've experienced that either
