I'm making a Deadpool costume for Comickaza in LA. This will be my biggest comic convention and the first one where I dress up, so I thought Deadpool would be appropriate. I usually come to /cgl/ before I start working on any costume so I thought I'd see if anyone had any suggestions. I'm going to try and make it all from scratch.

Also, Who else is going and who are you going as.

Every con has an excessive amount of Deadpools, most of which are just lanky teenage kids who mistake cosplaying Deadpool as an excuse to be annoying and shout memes in public.

But kudos to you if you actually make it yourself. The vast majority of people just buy them from China and only wear the suit. If you're going to make one, make it more like the current redesign or his Uncanny X-Force design - you'll stand out more.

Not much though, since yeah, there's going to be a LOT of other Deadpools there.

That sucks to hear there will be so many. I make costumes and props professionally and was hoping to make something that would stand out. I want to start collecting the materials by the beginning of september so I can have it finished by Halloween. My other ideas were The Tick, Inspector Gadget, Harvey Birdman, Abe Lincoln: Vampire Hunter, Mum Ra, Waluige, or Gandolf.

I just read an article about creating the swords out of a sturdy foam (like insulation foam) and then covering it in a resin/hardener. Has anyone tried that?

Someone recently said something about having made a sailor moon prop with that method. Apparently it's good. Lightweight but doesn't get messed up if bumped.
