depends on what exactly you mean. A bolero is typically a shrug with sleeves that hits either right at the natural waist or right above and does not button across the front.

Something that buttons together could be a cropped cardigan or a cropped riding jacket. It's important that it's either at the natural waist or 'cropped' because if it hits lower than that it will pinch your skirt shape in.
