I've only ever stuck with dark haired cosplays and I'm trying to branch out some more. I'd try blonde, but my brows are really dark and I feel like I'd look bad trying to color those.

Natural blonde here, most of us have an eyebrow shade thats several shades darker than their hair color. It keeps things looking more natural when you color them that way.

What i do at a ren fair is wear my long corset and a tail in my hair, people love it. I never really went as anybody. As far as crossplay. I love reaver from fabel3. Any strong shojo looking man, like yuki from blue exorcist or ooohhh kakashi :3. But for a female, tifa from ff or MOXI from borderlands that would be so cool!

I do like the latter options, but I always feel weird/awkward when considering certain characters because I've seen people get uppity about characters who are cosplayed too often or have multiple outfits, yet most only choose one of them.

I went to Otakon a few years back as Disney's Belle, but I used her peasant dress because everyone does the yellow ballgown and I thought that it would be a nice change. I had someone in our group remark that if I couldn't be bothered to be extravagant, that I shouldn't be leaving the hotel room at all.

So, that sort of made me feel shitty about cosplaying certain things.

At costume stores they have makeup on popsicle sticks called "hair and face" makeup for clowns. Wet a toothbrush and get some makeup on it, use the toothbrush like a mascara applicator on your brows and it can change even black eyebrows like mine different colors.

Honestly I haven't sketched anything out yet, but I was playing around with the idea of either doing a mask or skull makeup with the rest of my body covered in black... and then perhaps some sorta bulky, flowing black dress? Definitely would have some sorta skeleton heads around my own head (collar? on the fabric? painted? 3d? I have no clue)
I'd make a prop for his giant knife arm thing.

Well, appearance wise there seems to be a mix of simplicity and a general "regal" feel... I can't quite put my finger on it. It might be because you give off the other vibes that royalty are generally meant to give off, such as kindness and humility. Even though these are generally seen as qualities which a normal person is more likely to have, they are important for a ruler and Dusk has all of these because even though she is a princess she isn't arrogant; she seems very kind and humble and has a simple, basic beauty and she also tries to be as helpful and kind as possible, even though she doesn't have to.
