Cyrus' wig was actually a little thin. We were thinking about doing a pompadour next time, but we liked how this looked too. ( Theres nothing wrong with something different, especially if you think about it, how does an alpaca have a pompadour, anyway? )

Yeah, but it's accurate. That's that the spikes should look like. The shinyness looks to be poor lighting conditions/wig quality but the styling itself is spot on for me.

I didn't say anything about the makeup, but I'm not a fan of people painting the noses. Takes it out of gijinka territory for me. The rest of the makeup is fine.

You could do a lot better with the ears than she did.
I'd make them out of a low pile fur or some sort of fuzzy fabric, fleece (what most people seem to use) just doesn't suit them.

I'm still getting over my cosplay regret about Blanca (the paper maché head, dress and skin suit). Just the head I think, which is not dry erasable and looks off-white compared to the skin suit. One day I think I'll just redo the head out of foam and cover it with the same fabric as the skin suit so it matches. Or cover the same paper maché head with fabric and make it somehow easier to view out of and more comfortable to wear.

It was a rushed job towards the end, I took too much time with the head and used white fleece because I had so much of it. Also it was a little hard to wear because I didn't pick up a helmet in time (used rolled up pieces of EVA mats to help fit on my head, worked in a pinch). I may be beating myself too hard over it because I'm a perfectionist, but I'll definitely look at revamping it one day, preferably in a way that I can see out of the head, be easier to wear the head, and less wrinkles for the body (so maybe a zentai suit?).

Wow, this looks great! I see what you're saying about the head color. It still looks wonderful, but if you're anything like me, I know you won't be satisfied until it matches.
I'm feeling both ways about the zentai idea. Yes, it would reduce wrinkles, but it would also change up the proportions a bit. Your arms and legs seem well suited to the large head here, I'm not so sure how they'd look skin tight. But hey, it might add that extra level of feminine cute factor, so try it if you think it'll be better.

Aw thanks for your input, it's funny I didn't think about the fleece wrinkling up so much, and when it happened I felt like I was hit right in the childhood (all of those fleece turtlenecks as a kid, ahh). I've never worn a zentai or a material similar, but hey maybe worth a shot. Or minky? Or maybe some other smooth knit... Or just try sewing the sleeves narrower may help.

For the shoes I simply made pants with "shoe covers". Drafted a pattern from some similar stretch pants and fudged the shoe part, which turned out to be very similar to what I've drawn in pic related (sorry if it's confusing). And underneath I used felt and elastics so I can take out the shoes. They fit nice and smooth over the shoes since fleece is stretchy.

It feels so damn smooth, but the surface might be still porous, and the polyurethane didn't cure completely (while it was dry, there was a very faint smell but there should be no smell to indicate it's cured). I reached a point where I should just invest in dry erase paint, but... mixed feelings on where I want to go with the head still. Something light, preferably see out of, and doesn't appear too different from the body.

I think you should just make them shorter as opposed to narrower to try and keep the proportions from looking too outlandish. I think the bagginess is a bit charming though.

As a (perhaps less permanent) solution to the face, did you consider doing a sort of Mr. Potatohead idea at all? Make a bunch of eyes, mouths, eyebrows, words, etc out of felt with a bit of velcro or some such on the back. It wouldn't give passerbys the freedom to draw dicks all over you, but at least adds some of the interactivity you seem to want

Not gonna lie, this is one of the best Animal Crossing cosplays I've ever seen. I see what your having problems about, but it's really not a big deal compared to how awesome this looks. This is what I think when I see "Animal Crossing costumes", a big head, the hoop dress and the body suit for matching color.

The fleece was on the top side of the shoes, and underneath was pieces of felt and elastic so it wasn't completely covered. Yes it did get dirty and not too slippery in fact. I always stayed on the clean clear paths so it kept dirt to a minimum around the bottom edge of my shoespants. However, only one top side got a dot of something because my friend accidentally hit my shoe under the table with her shoe. Overall it's hard to clean completely, especially the felt parts, but if it got torn badly, I can resew on new sole patches and elastic bands.

Thank you, it was pretty ambitious huh! I do owe it to myself to make an easier cosplay next time that doesn't hinder my body too much (there's something about making mascot ones rather simplifying it for gijinka, and my friends are such great handlers). I'd love to do another one from Animal Crossing like Tom Nook, especially with upholstery foam, stacking the thick foam sheets to make the head and body.

For now a break from Blanca and redo parts of it later. Thank you everyone for the encouragement! Makes me feel better about this cosplay.

I did thought about that but I think my crazy idea of a dry-erasable face won me over (and turned out a lot harder to do), I think it's something I should definitely consider. Like those felt boards, I'll have to test how felt squares stick to fleece because I read people use flannel as the base. I think if I covered the head in fabric, why not add that interactivity! But sometimes I'm not sure if it's worth hindering my sight... Sometimes I have poor judgement on pros and cons till something happens. Thank you for your help!

I just got this sweater for Blathers. The colors aren't 100% but this is the closest I could find after a couple of weeks, and something like this is used by other Blathers cosplayers. What do you think?

I feel ya there. I planned an isabelle for an upcoming convention and I can't help but feel scared knowing I'm going to be overshadowed by a bunch of other, better isabelles.

As stupid as it sounds, I get really anxious knowing the cosplay has been done many times. Because I know I'll see a girl who is ten times cuter than me and I'll feel like the ugly step sister of Isabelle.
As far as the tail and ear things go, I've noticed if people do a completely human version, they compensate the ears with pigtails or yellow wefts on the side. I think it's up to you really on what extent of the cosplay you want to do.
