Cosplay noob here; can I ask a question?

How would I cut the pieces for the top part of this hat? I have barely enough fleece and don't want to mess it up.

Thanks a bunch!

Do you mean the symbols or the hat itself?

I'm not sure if you're talking about the symbol or the hat itself, but if you're that worried, practice on some scrap fabrci! Muslin is a super cheap fabric made for practice, but if you have an old t-shirt or anything, that'll work. It'll keep you from ruining your fabric if something goes wrong.

the hat itself. it looks like the top part is just two pieces but the rounding around the nub doesn't make sense to me

Just something I found online, sorry. I'd make it using the circumference of my head, however.

Try different designs with throwaway cloth before doing the fleece.

I have this, OP.

OP, you can use that tutorial, but bear in mind you want two parts rather than one.

To me, this is what the hat looks like - two pieces that are sewn together as a normal semi circle slightly wider than the headband at the bottom. Then one edge has been sewn in to fit the headband, but only halfway, and then the excess at the top is pulled out to create the nubby bit.

I might be completely wrong but I'm just going by what I see with the photo.

Since you're using fleece you'll have a nice stretch as long as you cut the pieces so the stretch is vertical rather than horizontal.

That sounds like it'll work! I'll give it a shot; thanks.
