Gonna cosplay Artorias soon. I have all the patterns, fabrics, the ponytail and chainmail ready, and I'm gonna order some worbla to make the armor, but...

I have ran into few problems ;__; How could I attach the armor parts without any leather strips or anything showing off? Maybe velcro or something like that?

Something like in this: http://fc06.deviantart.net/fs71/i/2012/321/f/4/let_us_put_an_end_to_all_this___afro_samurai__by_sketchmcdraw-d5l0pgu.jpg

Also, what would be the best material for the sword edge and the round ends and shape? I might be thinking of using 14-18 mm MDF, but it might be too heavy with metal pipe in it :c

Any help, /cgl/?

Pic heavily related.

Velcro is a common choice for attaching armor pieces, they make some really heavy-duty stuff.

there's a bunch of different ways you can stick armor to yourself without the use of velcro. for instance, you can make most of the armor hang from the central body piece, or using clips

Backpack clips work really well, that's what the body of >>7014686 is connected with. or you could go in a way where you adhere some armor to a body suit and just slip it on.

you can always go the tension route as well. Though the comfortableness of the armor becomes troublesome. If you make it tight it will not budge.

If you do decide to use velcro get the heavy duty idustrial stuff. Its amazing.
As for your sword, lightest material is the best. you dont wanna be lugging around with a heavy ass sword. (it sucks)
that being said mdf is an option but in the end that stuff is heavy have you considered trying to find a lighter wood?

Any way to get chainmail looking decent without actually making/buying actual chainmail?

I've wanted to do a solaire cosplay for a while now.

Theres not a whole lot of chainmail, you could probably just use a textured cloth with silver highlights to emulate it.

Nah man, he basically has just under knee high solid iron boots. The chest is covered with the tabard thing.

So basically its: Long sleeves to wrist
Pants to just below the knee.

Seriously, going full chainmail is pants on head retarded because its:
>expensive as shit
>heavy as shit
You could potentially make your own rings out of foamcore or something and put them together, but that would be a shitload of work to do.

The boots only cover the front of his legs and mail goes all the way down with openings in the back. but you could get away with just to knee yes

Try this place. Fairly cheap, but you'll need to send them an email and have a paypal account to make things easier.

I had my seamstress use her surging machine to get it all sewn up properly.

I'm going as solaire to my local con later this friday. Wish me luck.

Do you recommend knitting for the chain mail on the brass set? since I don't think I could do that much chain mail the old fashioned way...

Nice, I tried plastic rings but they kept coming apart but these look better then the cheap things I tried. How exactly did you do the chain mail? Did you have a specific pattern?

It really varies from size to size so just play around and see how they work.
