And out of curiosity seagulls, I'm a black cosplayer (skin tone is a shade or two darker than mixed race) and am thinking of cosplaying a blonde character (Lissa from Fire Emblem Awakening for those of you who are curious). I've seen a couple of black cosplayers pull off excellent cosplays with dark/black versions of their character's hair colour and I kind of figured wearing a blonde wig would look weird on me. So, I was wondering, what's your stance on wearing wigs that suit skin colour rather than the character's natural hair? Is it acceptable or should the cosplayer just stick to the original hair colour?

how do you guys pack your wigs away when you're travelling to a con? Do you style them first or just wait to do it at con?

Wear a blonde wig. It's going to make you more recognizable as the character and that's what's important. Especially Lissa since her hairstyle is very distinctive. You're honestly just going to look like a steampunk reject without in that dress (pic related for context for everyone).

fellow black cosplayer here. What you do is find a blonde that suits your skintone. You'll have to hit up a wig shop in the area to compare and then you'll know what color to order on the internet.

Also check and see if your character has alternate color schemes. A lot of times there will be a brown version if it's a fighting game. But it may make you less recognizable if you care about that sort of thing.

Does anyone know of any other shops besides cyperous who sell gorgeous wigs like pic related? Preferably in a blonde or ash brown tone.
I'm just so sick of seeing cheap, piss yellow wigs like op's pic, and no offense op. I'm just looking for wigs with a little more depth and aren't just one or two solid block colors.

Wear a blond, but pick a blond that goes with your skin tone. (This is good advice for everyone.) With dark skin, you might want to go several shades darker, even if it's not screen-accurate, to stop the blinding platinum wig distracting too much from your actual face.

Hey, I'm about to get two long wigs which have wavy/curly ends, I'm not sure if they're heat-resistant or not, so what's a good way to maintain the curls at the ends? Assuming it's not heat-resistant (which I doubt they're not but... Just to be safe).

Also, I'd like to know general tips for maintaining them looking good.

1 part hand lotion, 6 parts water inside a spray bottle. If your wig looks greasy after, spray with dry shampoo or powder lightly.

Any tips on maintaining ringlet wigs? I want one but I am afraid that they are going to tangle and get frizzy right away. I have no idea how I would wash them and restyle.

I'm looking for a accurate length Sailor Moon wig (ie nearly to my knees, not all these hip length ones I keep seeing) in a natural blonde, preferably one that I can take the odangos off of to make my own.

I'm also searching for other pigtail wig bases (in blonde and pink) besides amphigory's Innocent and Arda's Chibi (especially if I can get matching wefts/a cheap 50in+ wig to harvest).

Good luck. Buy a pigtail wig, stub it, and buy some extensions. If an odango is on a wig and the wig is decent quality, the odango will be attached.
