Post cute items, ask questions, etc!
Does anyone know if it's possible to buy from Bodyline without a creditcard? I don't have one myself but I have money on my Paypal account. Bodyline won't let me buy stuff without linking a creditcard to my paypal first.

How quick do they ship stuff out? I just made an order, used EMS shipping. I kind of need it by next weekend, and am going to be pissed if it doesn't arrive. At least the EMS shipping was only like 10 dollars more than the air for me, since I only ordered a pair of shoes, socks, and wristcuffs.

EMS is a godsend.
I've only used Air once and it took over a month.
I ONLY use ems. I order on Wednesday morning and have gotten over 10 orders on the following Fri/Sat.
Case in point, I made an order on 7/25 and it's already left US customs. EMS also comes earlier and separate from your normal mail.
You need something in a rush, don't be a tight ass.
Air is stupid slow and a waste of time. Also, if you pay in Yen it dramatically lowers the cost.

I'm super new to lolita, like no dresses nada yet, and would this be okay for a starter dress? I do plan on buying brand in the near future, and I've been looking at "how to lolita" for the past few days so I THNK it'd be all right, but I don't want to fuck this up. I'd probably buy the pink or blue. Y/N?

>> No.7011244

>>7011243
You could do worse but it's still a pretty 'obvious newbie's first bodyline' dress. Think about it this way: once you do get the brand, are you even going to wear it? If no, don't bother.

Yes, I would. I'd like to buy a bodyline dress or skirt or something just to test the waters, because I'm paranoid to spent over $100 on a skirt or jsk. I'm really sure that I'd like wearing it, I've loved the fashion for years, but there's still a little bit of doubt gnawing at my conscious. Should I just skip bodyline and go for brand though? Go big or go home?

I saw some girl on tumblr wearing it and it looked surprisingly okay? I feel like the hat and the stupid bib thing needs to go though. Also the lace on the sleeve cuffs are horrible so you might want to take a seam ripper to it.

If you don't like the brand at least you can probably resell it for more of your money back. Bodyline is cheaper initially but if you think you'll bother selling it if you don't like it, brand is the better investment.

Honestly, I have a bunch of Bodyline pieces I like and wear but most of it, which I bought as a newbie, I resold.

>> No.7011277

>>7011260
Buying your first pieces as brand isn't as hard as you think. I snagged an older (2006) AP skirt off one of the Japanese second hand stores for 3000 Yen, which is actually around the same price (or cheaper) as some of bodyline's skirts. If you stalk yahoo auctions or mbok, you should be able to find a couple older jsks and OPs for super cheap (anywhere from 2000-5000 yen).
I mean you put the shopping service fees and shipping in to the equation and it gets a little more expensive, but honestly, I say just buy brand first. It'll make you feel better in the long run.
(It should be mentioned though that all these pieces were either older or non-print.)

>> No.7011477

alright, guys
I have a dumb question
on so many reviews and direct sales, i've seen the statement "i removed [x] lace". How do you do it, though? i'm decent at sewing and have managed to get rid of sewn-on waist ties on my blouse(L059) without leaving cut-off stumps but this is sort of stumping me. I tried cutting a bit of lace off of one of the waist ties and it came off clean. Will other varieties of bodyline's stiffer tulle lace come off clean as well or will I have to de-construct and re-construct the garnment?

>> No.7013724

Trouble with this dress is, most photos make me think Bodyline used too little fabric for the middle tier, so it makes a funny shape even though your petti is very full.

My advice, get the skirt, it's good, but if you want a dress I think getting two skirts (or the yukata, it has a bigger panel of just the background fabric) and then making your own dress would be a better idea than buying Bodyline's version.

(I have the skirt, fabric-wise, it's pretty standard Bodyline quality, if that's what you really want to know)

>> No.7013728

>>7013611
I have the skirt.
it's a commercially available fabric, so i'd say it's pretty good. The lace isn't too scratchy, either. The lace isn't as closely cut on the outside of the embroidered edge as it could be but you've gotta get real damn close to see that(and it can be fixed quickly with scissors). i'd say it's good quality for the price.

I'd love Bodyline's L481 in pink or green, but the smallest size they have is a Medium, and both the bust and waist measurements seem like they'd be too big.

I've never bought bodyline before and I'm not sure how easy it'd be to alter the dress. Do they restock on sizes pretty often or are some dresses only available in larger sizes (it doesn't say they're sold out of smalls, it just shows that they offer M and 2L)

For a lot of bodyline items, Medium is the smallest size they offer. they only very rarely make clothes in small sizes.
Alteration shouldn't be that difficult if you take it to a seamstress, or you could try doing it yourself and take in a little from the sides. There is also shirring in the back with corset ties (I think?) so you could try tightening that all the way too.
