He directly bitched at blogs like korraisnottan for basically trying to enforce one certain skintone in fanarts, 'OR ELSE WHITEWASH'. It's also kind of a hit about the whole shit that went down with this piece of fanart.

It's not what the post is about. But he did basically say it. He mentions in a tiny little sentence in it how M Night's portrayal of his work is a gross misinterpretation and even emphasizes that it's HIS work, not M Night's, even though M Night acts like it's his to interpret.

There's fanart of Toph where she has obvious monolids and it's still deemed whitewash because "she's not as dark as this screenshot where she's in pitch blackness."

I was unaware there was any controversy (and haven't gotten around to watching the new series yet).

Maybe my lack of context means I'm missing something important, but he came across as kind of rude and hostile. No, not everyone knows about lighting and color (I found that educational, actually) and people really care about your show and the high standards of diversity you've set.

Has he been getting hate mail or something? Because he seemed pretty pissed.
