Because Komaeda's is more difficult to cosplay (both the wig and outfit) and Asahina's outfit is pretty casual and easy. I feel like Asahina's a pretty likable character, and that along with the fact that she's not hard to cosplay would make her a good candidate as the next Dave Strider.

Most of Asahinas costume can be bought at a local store or something. Or at least the mediocre or less than mediocre cosplayers may just buy the part of the outfit rather than make it. Since you actually have to put some effort into Komaeda's jacket (sine you can't buy that anywhere other than online) I'd say his costume is a little more difficult than Asahinas.

From what I've seen, Dangan Ronpa is one of the worst series with it's references.

The color palettes in game vary from scene to scene and depending on if it's a sprite or a splash image. The concept art and reference sheets seem to vary wildly from what's in game as well.
It's really irritating.

This. yes! It doesn't stop at the colors, the characters clothes can change lengths or will be tighter fitting. The body proportions can change subtly to. The worse thing is the hair. fucking christ the color, fullness,length and style can vary. The art can look really great in one scene or look shitty and halfassed in another. A really good example is Souda from sdr2. I could further criticize the artists in consistency but im afraid id go to off topic.
This just becomes a problem when putting together a cosplay. Though nothing huge just minor annoyances and confusion. Wig color will always be a problem when trying to cosplay this series.

I honestly would go with the pink tinge because it looks great with his character, but if you're pressed for time/don't care then get a white wig.

I generally follow what the sprites themselves look like because there are inaccuracies in both artbook and special images.

Hey guys, this is a really petty thing to be irritated with, but for some reason it seems EVERY Chiaki cosplayer uses black thigh-highs. It bugs the hell out of me because I have never seen her thigh-highs as any other color but the weird tealish shade her jacket is, and yet even cosplayers I really admire for their constant accuracy are doing this. As someone who wants to cosplay Chiaki one day son, can anyone tell me WHY so many people go with black thigh highs?

Again, I know, really petty. It's just a detail that has always gotten to me...

I think it can go either way because everything in the game is tinted strangely and it's hard to tell when things are supposed to be black or some kind of dark green or blue shade. I like it better when Peko cosplayers use a near-black dark green than flat black, but I don't think it's inaccurate either way.

Agreed. I dyed fabric a really deep blue/green for my Peko costume and my friend has a midnight-navy kind of shade on her Fukawa one, but then you also see Fukawas with black and brown uniforms. The art style and color schemes are so strange and change often in the games, so anything can technically be 'canon'.

Why do all Junko's have such awful wigs. Has anyone ever gotten the fullness/color right on her wig? People have started buying those Junko wigs off of ebay but I actually really dont like them cause they're straight, when her hair obviously has some wave to it, and they're too pink.

Junkos with no eye makeup are just....missing the point of her title as an SHSL gyaru. Gyaru is heavily influenced by makeup, especially eye makeup. I don't get the red lipstick thing.
