I was trying to explain to someone that there's this thing where Japanese cosplayers wear ridiculous platforms that don't have anything to do with the character. Not being a cosplayer myself, I can't find any exanples with a quick google search and don't know if there are certain names I should be searching under. Does anyone have examples saved?

In Japan I found one of the easiest ways to buy the hooker boots was to shop at Assist Cosplay. I'm sure you can find some good examples if you google them.

'ita' is Japanese for 'ouch' or 'it hurts'. atama ga itan desu = my head hurts/I have a headache.

It has been adopted into Lolita lexicon to describe outfits that are painful to look at. Borrow it all you want for things other than Lolita.

oh god those look awful. The fact that the boots in the Ayanami cosplay that the platforms are attached to are THEMSELVES preposterously long makes the platforms themselves look less bad (and the underside of the platforms seems to have been coloured specifically to match the tops of the boots), so it kind of works, despite still being really dumb.
