Wow, thanks! I'm not too great with makeup, so I will happily take any advice you have. Mostly I just use foundation, primer, concealer, and a bit of lip liner and mascara.
As for the swords, they are plexiglass sheets and I just cut them with a tablesaw. Then, I cleaned up the edges with my dremel, sanded and buffed them out, and since each sword is two layers thick, I then glued them together. This was also necessary to get around the con's weapons check policies. The glue around the edges made it nice and soft and con-safe.
Most have told me a band saw would have cut them nicer, but on my text piece, I found the band saw chipped it too much, while the table saw cut it much smoother.

My most recent, Valkyrie at Big Wow Comic Fest. I consider this a beta test, because holy god damn this costume needs work.

I need to completely redo the boob plates and gauntlets, get a new wig (this one was a piece of shit, that's what I get for being cheap), and make an accurate belt, not to mention oatz and squatz forever to get back into spandex shape. There's a reason I haven't worn anything skimpy lately, heh. But I'm stupid pleased with my sword, even though it really needed more sanding before I painted it. C&C routing makes everything so easy it feels like cheating.

A lot of fabric and six jars of fabric paint. Basic sewing together of a long rectangle with ends wider than the centre, including an extra seam sewn along one side so I could insert wire into it before sewing the ends together. I didn't want it to hang limp when standing.
Drew the design on it with fabric chalk, painted over the outline a couple of times and then did about 8 layers of paint inside.
In total it's about 3.6m long.

The amount of 999 and VLR cosplayers at Fanime was a quiet a nice surprise for us. We had no idea so many people were going to cosplay fromt his series so we mainly kept to ourselves when it comes to planning. I did my best to round up as many people I saw so I appologize that I didn't see you.
